Looking for Title & author of Young Adult fictional novel written late 70's, early 80's?
This is driving me crazy! Am after the title and if possible author's name of a young adult novel I read back in the 1980's.
It's set in the post apocalyptic future, where due to the fall-out/pollution, all people live underground. The names of the characters are based around plants. The main character, who's name escapes me, is a young man who is dissatisfied with existing life underground & he often thinks wistfully of a girl he had heard of named Harebell, who also like him, dreamed of a freer life, outside of the tunnels. There's like a rhyme he repeats, something along the lones of "harebell run, Harebell jump". The book culminates with him leading his people out into the light and finally meeting Harebell.
Can anyone help please, will send you good vibes forever!!!
2 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoHow do you describe this?
Hi, what is the proper term for when substitute a less cumbersome name for something regularly used throughout the document. For example, instead of writing "Incrediblylongcompanyname pty ltd" you refer to "The Company". Is that an abbreviation? Acronym? Substitution?

2 AnswersMobile Phones & Plans1 decade agoSong Title/Artist please?
Not sure if anyone can help me, I've searched on the web to find this song I remember from the 90's with no success and I'd really like to get a copy of it again. It's an anti BNP song, with a male fronted band performing.
Some of the lyrics I remember are: "The BNP are sh*t to me" and "I don't give a f**k about combat 18".
Apologies for the language, this is a genuine song and a genuine request, therefore any help, suggestions welcome please :-)

I seriously don't get on with my sister and her partner & they are spending xmas and xmas eve with us.
How so I get through this? I just want it to be a good day for everyone, but I find then both really hard to take and on a day when we should all have fun, I just find it a day of tension.
Firstly, my sister's partner is openly rude and disrespectful to our mother, even though our (retired) mother has literally provided them with (never re-paid) loans over the last 10 years, running into literally thousands of dollars.
Secondly, my sister's partner says that they will only visit if it means they get a private room - this means, due to the restrictions of OUR house, that my partner and I sleep in the living room - i.e vacate our bed in our own house just so they can grace us with their presence for xmas day.
Next, and I know this is selfish, they have submitted an extensive shopping list of what they would like (like electrical appliances & gift vouchers), yet openly tell us, we will be getting homemade "baked goods", even though, through their government assisted income (with 3,400 AUD xmas bonus), they have more to spend on Xmas than we do.
They contribute nothing to the day as far as food goes - apart form the aformentioned "baked goods" as gifts, they will bring nothing like food or drink with them. I know from previous Christmases, that they will also not assist in the preparations on the day - even when specifically asked. They ignore requests for assistance and sit in the living room, drinking the booze.
Last Christmas they got hold of my mothers ATM card and took money directly from her account without permission as well as some cash I had left in my handbag!!!!!
My Mother loves my sister (of course) - despite her faults, and it is really important to her to have both of us together for Christmas day. My question is this - how can I get through the day (and preceeding night) without saying what I want to say... without banning them from the house altogether and without being rude to them?
