  • Why are international high schools based on the North American education program?

I mean, if North America has one of the worst worldwide educational rankings, why use that as the model for high schools in other countries?

  • Name that song!?

It's on the radio all the time. I think the beginning of the chorus goes like "Come to me my Swedish friend." Any ideas?

  • The Moomins are to Finland as what is to the U.S?

So the Moomins is a Finnish TV show that apparently is very popular there, but what U.S. show over here might attract a similar audience/age group and be as popular?

  • What would you do with 1500 dollars?

I know it's not a lot, but if someone gave you just 1500 dollars to spend on doing something that you really wanted to do, what would you do?

  • How to get a work study job at a student research conference?

I'm going to a student research conference tomorrow for the math and physics department at BYU to try and get a work-study or researching job set up between me and a professor. I have a resume, but I am clueless on how to approach the professors and what to say to them. I'm going to be a Freshman in the Fall, by the way. Any advice? Thanks.

  • What should I say in my next interview?

Alright, so I have a job interview in a couple of hours for a sandwich restaurant, and I was thinking for a little that I want to make it a little more interesting.

    So my idea was this:

I walk in, sit down at a table with the hiring manager. She asks me a few questions about work, school, goals, etc. and then I say "Could I ask you a question?" Then he/she agrees, and I ask "What do you value more--someone who is outgoing and interpersonal and has out-of-the-box thinking, or someone who is 100% professional and just does what needs to get done? The manager would probably say the first choice, as they said on their website that they are looking for someone who is outgoing and personal, and then I say, "Ok. I wasn't going to do this, but since you answered the first choice...

So I stand up and, in the Old Spice Man's voice, say:

"Look at your kitchen. Now back at me. Now back at your kitchen. Now back at me. Unfortunately, I'm not in your kitchen. But if you hired me at $8.75 an hour, I could work in your kitchen. Look at this resume. Now back at me. Now back at the resume. Now back at me. This resume outlines the characteristics that you're looking for in your next employee. Now look at the customers. Now back at me. Now back at the customers. Now back at me. Notice how your customers are 10x more engaged and happier than before I started this skit. That happiness is what you would be risking if you didn't hire me. So will you hire me? Do do do do do do do."

  • How to handle someone who's obsessive about me?

So there's this girl that was in my class. She's nice and all, but after 2 weeks, she started being all fan-girl about me. She keeps messaging me constantly, and I don't want to make her feel bad or anything and I'm fine with us being friends, but she's been annoying me for a few weeks or so now, and I don't quite know how to handle this situation....

    Ideas?

  • Most awkward dates?

Mine happened tonight. First, I was unaware that my date's family had a policy that she couldn't have single dates until I arrived at her house and was just planning on a nice single date with her, so her parents ended up going with us.

It gets worse. Later on, we were at her house playing card games with her brothers and sisters, and we were playing this one game where there were two decks of cards: one that had a letter on them, and one that had a situation, and you would flip over one of each card and try to see how many words you could find that start with the letter and involve that situation. So for example, if the letter was "t" and the situation was "animals found at the beach," you could say "turtle."

So about halfway into the game, we flipped over the two cards. The letter was "C" and the situation was "things men mostly wear." Right as we flipped over those cards, my date's mom walked into the room, looked at the cards, and then looked at me... It just went downhill from there.

  • Should I ask her to kiss me underwater?

I've been wanting to have an underwater kiss for about 5 years, ever since I read the end of one of the Percy Jackson books that had Annabeth and Percy kissing underwater.

So now there's this girl who I like but haven't known for too long. In fact, the only time we've ever met was on a blind double date to prom. We hit it off SO well, though, that it didn't feel uncomfortable at all to put my arm around her and just have fun. At the end of the date, she was even the one who hugged me. Oh, and I should mention that she's a hardcore swimmer, so the breathing part isn't going to be too big of a deal... at least not for her.

Anyways, I'm wanting to go on a date with her, and I was thinking about going to this water park on Friday night and asking her if she wants to kiss underwater.

So what are your thoughts on this? Too soon? Should I even ask her? How?

She's turning 17 and I'm turning 18, by the way.

  • Homesick... help please?

So I moved a few months ago to a different state, and I came back home for graduation just a few hours ago, and I'm feeling really homesick... not just because of all of my friends and the area in general, but also because a couple of days ago, I had my first kiss there (and second) with a girl that I really liked, and I'm not going to be able to see her for at least 2-3 years. So basically, I'm homesick and I miss her like crazy. What can I do?

  • What did you first think of when you read this?

"On the paper, we were to put our name, some of our general information, no, not that information…, and a song that meant the most to us."

What "information" were you thinking of after it said "no, not that information"?

  • How to comfort a girl before a test?

So there's this really cute, bright, shy girl in my class who I'm friends with, and today, she came into class with her eyes red like she had been crying before she came in. During class, she wasn't doing well at all. So after class, I asked her what was wrong. She said that she has a huge math final tomorrow that she needs to ace. I offered to tutor her since I was valedictorian and had a 4.0 GPA (graduated early) and was in the National Honor Society. She refused, and walked away still sad, ready at any moment to start crying.

I really want to help her, and I know that tomorrow, she isn't going to be any happier since it will be the day of the test. Chances are, she will be staying up all night cramming and if she comes in to the class I'm in, she'll still have those red eyes and be really stressed.

I thought of giving her a hug or some chocolate or something, but really, I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

  • What to say to her now?

So there's this beautiful girl in my class that I had never talked to before, and so after class, I started talking to her. It started off well... I put my arm around her shoulders (only for a second, though), and she did the same to me, after which, with my brilliance, decided to make it even more awkward and do it again. Then it got even worse. Words started coming out. I didn't yell or make her feel bad about herself; I did, though, seem to stutter and forgot what I was wanting to say, even though what I was saying would have been great if it had been said by someone with more confidence. She was nice and kept talking to me for a little, but the whole time, I just felt like hitting myself over the head because I couldn't hardly get any words out. I don't know if I'm exaggerating or not, and she might have thought it was cute... I don't know. But regardless, what should I say to her tomorrow? Should I try to pretend like it never happened? What do you think?

  • Acoustic guitar songs for a picnic?

So I'm going on a double date picnic on Saturday (everyone's about 17), and I'm planning on bringing my guitar along so I can play some songs. I'm a good guitar player, but I don't have the best singing voice. Any suggestions? Something everyone can sing along to?
