  • I need some non-edible, practical wedding favor ideas?

I can't do wine charms to wine stoppers, I can't do an ice cream scoop or a cake cutter, but I'd like something practical along those lines under $4 per item. Thanks!

  • What's the best way to feed and water my cat?

My cat is about 4 and a half... she's always been on the small side, and kinda skinny. I leave dry food out all day and give her a pouch full of wet food once a day. Am I feeding her enough? IS there a better frequency or amount or type of food to give her?

Also she will not drink water out of a bowl. I've tried steel, plastic, ceramic of all different shapes and sizes and she still prefers to drink from a dripping faucet or the toilet. Obviously, I'd rather she drank out of a bowl and I worry she's not hydrating enough. I've tried running the water a while first so it's nice and cool, I've even tried adding ice cubes, nothing works.

    Thanks!

  • Bennigans in Manhattan?

Bennigans was my boyfriend's favorite chain restaurant. I know there are a few franchised locations left, but that the chain declared bankruptcy and most locations closed.

Does anyone know what happened to the one in Manhattan near Times Sqaure, and what's there now if anything?

  • How do you lubricate the blade of your snow shovel?

I've read that you can use various household substances to lubricate the blad of your snow shovel so that snow like the snow the mid atlantic got today will slide right off.

Today's snow was painfully sticky and heavy and even when you turn the shovel upside down, it doesn't come off.

So what do you think is the best way? PAM? Olive oil? WD-40? Silocone lubricant? Something else?

I haven't dug out my car yet which is parked on the street, so I'm hoping to make that a little easier for myself than it was to shovel out the driveway, sidewalk and front walkway.

Any other tips are great, too. Thanks!

  • Age old question: Valentine's Day?

Yeah, I know this question has been asked like 2097409572094 times, but

    1) I'm not a teenager

    2) My boyfriend and I have been together forever already, so all the "give him your scent on a pillow/make him a photo collage/bake him cookies" suggestions aren't cutting it.

We're going away for the weekend so we agreed not to do big gifts but I want to get him a little something... I can't send him flowers or candy b'c we're going to be away... and I don't want to hand him a box of candy (lame) so what's something around $30 give or take a little that I can give to him? I'm so stumped!

  • IS anyone else having trouble answering questions?

Obviously, if you are, I won't get an answer from you, but did anyone else get a 999 error while trying to answer? I've been trying to answer this poor girl's question for like 20 minutes now and I can't!

  • My LG Voyager external screen?

I turned off my phone while I was changing my screen protector (cause those suckers NEVER STAY ON, they always peel from the corner, so annoying, but that's a different issue all together, anyway...) and I noticed that the center of the screen llooks kind of like an oil puddle with those rainbow ripples. I cleaned the screen, and it's still there, seemingly underneath the surface. When you press gently on it, as if you were using the phone, the colored ripples go away, so it's almost like there's a layer of air trapped underneath the screen? Has anyone had an issue with this and is there any way to get rid of it? IT doesn't effect the performance of the phone, but it's just annoying to know it's there. TIA.

  • Tipping at holiday time?

I'm gonna give the guy a tip anyway, but...

The postman is a federal employee. I've had government jobs before and was expressly told I was never allowed to accept gifts or tips from people. Is the postman allowed to accept a tip?

  • Which recurring Y!A question...?

Which recurring Y!A question would you like to ban from ever being asked again, whether it's because the question is just annoying or whether it's because the same EXACT question has been asked 827694892387698365 times and the answer can be found in Y!A already, if not on Google?

  • Why does my cat do this?

I'm just curious as to why whenever I put something like a notebook, folder, napkin, anything with distinct borders on the floor, the cat needs to sit on it.

I've been looking for a while for a god website on cat behavioe, but I haven't been able to find a good one, any suggestions?

What their facial expressions mean, how they communicate with humans, what their meows mean and why they assign certain sounds to certain ideas. I'm just really curious.

    Thanks :-)

  • This Ellen Degeneres thing?

What is with that stupid "Ka ka KAAH" thing she does every day? It's annoying to begin with, but more annoying because I don't know what it means or why she does it.

  • Adult with sudden heavy nosebleeds?

My mother is in her 50's and called me today to tell me that she doesn't know whether to be seriously worried or not... she woke up during the night last Thursday with what she htough was a runny nose, but when it wouldn't stop, she got up and found blood everywhere.. her, the sheets... and it has happened every day since then. She says if she bends over, she gets a bloody nose... she's on 60 mg of fluoxetine and is a smoker, but none of her habits or med dose have changed. The heat in the house in not on yet... this has never happened to her before, what could be causing this all of a sudden. They don't last lon, only a couple of minutes, but she says they're heavy, almost gushing until it stops.

She's seeing the doctor Thursday, I"m just wondering if anyone has had experience like this. Thanks

  • Cut cervix during pelvic exam?

I've had endometriosis since I was a teenager, I'm 26 now. Unfortunately, my insurance changed recently and I can't see my long time physician anymore, so I had to go to this clinic to have my birth control refilled (which I take for the endometriosis).

So I went for the pelvic, and I wound up being examined by a PA and an intern which I wan't super comfortable with. The intern inserted the speculum, but apparently he didn't do it right, so she like, JAMMED it in there and it it HURT. I've had SO many exams before because of my condition and I've never been handled like that, I've never had pain like that. So, while the psculum was open I felt them swabbing and swabbing and usually it takes like 3 seconds to collect some cells, so I was wondeirng what ae they doing, and she decides to tell me you have some bleeding. So I was like all right.. I thought she meant normal spotting, but then she said, you might have to go to the ER and I was like WHY? Then she told me I had a "friable cervix" and it was bleeding but they were gonna try and make it stop. She left the room, me alone with the male intern for like 5 minutes, and she came back with silver nitrate sticks. She said I'd have some spotting, I said how do I know if it's bad and she's like "Well, you'd be gushing" with a big attitude.

Really, I was appalled with how she was speaking to me, I've never been treated like that in a medical setting. Then they did they part where they feel the uterus and the ovaries, which the intern did and she did over but shen she did it, she had my whole body rocking on the table with the force she was using to shover her hand up there and the pressure she was putting on my pelvis.

That was 8 hours ago and now I'm still bleeding but I Can't tell if it's because of the cervical bleeing or if she upset my uterus so much that I'm spotting. I have pretty bad cramping and I'm so uncomfortable. On top of that, I feel like I was treated like an animal and I don't know how appropriate any of this was: is a PA allowed to supervise the MD intern? Did she put the bleeding oin my chart? Should I complain to someone? TO whom? I don't know what to do, I just feel violated by the whole situation. I didn't know I wasn't going to see a DR and usually PA's are just as good but this one wasn't. And now I looked up friable cervix and it says it's caused by STD's like chalmydia or by previous abortions neither of which I have ever had. I've never had this issue. Does anyone have any advice? I know rude behavior isn't an ethical violation, but does this go beyond that somehow? I can't shake this feeling, it's bad.

  • Portable phone interrupting internet connection?

My roommate and I each have a laptop. I have a Sony Vaio VGN CR120E and she has some kind of crappy Gateway she got this past Christmas. We bought a new portable phone, and everytime we use it it interrupts her internet connection which is provided by the cable company and routed through a D-Link. Why would the phone interrupt her signal and not mine and how do we fix that?

  • Why won't my radio play?

I have a Jensen MP5610 in dash deck in my 98 Saturn. I'm a full time grad student, leave me alone.

Anyway, I was listening to traffic the other day and the radio just went silent. I switched to FM and it was also silent. I tried turning it on and off, taking the plate out and replacing it. I still have the radio station display and it's lit, but when I try to scan for a station, it cycles through the entire spectrum and doesn't stop. I don't even get static. MY CD player works fine, though. It came back on the next day just as mysteriously on the way to work, and went back out on the way home from work. I din't go over any bumps, and the antenna is still there and appears secure What the heck? I NEED MY TRAFFIC IN THE AM!! AAARGH! What's my plan before I pull the whole dash apart?

  • What to wear as a guest to a vow renewal?

My good friend's parents are having a 25th wedding anniversary party... while the party is not going to be a formal sit down dinner, they are having a short reaffirmation ceremony with vows and speeches and prayers from their children (we are all in our mid-twenties). Is it inappropriate for me to wear a white dress as a guest at something like this? The dress is a stiff cotton with empire waist, square neckline and thick straps with black embroidery on the neckline, straps and hem.

It's really quite a sweet summery dress and I had planned to wear it before I knew it was a vow renewal ceremony. Help. :-)

  • CPU Usage II?

I'm posting this question again, but I am refining the details because the answers I Was geting ind of ignored my specifications.

My CPU usage is jumping all over the place. The reason I checked to begin with was because some of my windows were intermittently freezing. I ran anti virus and anti spyware and everything came up clean. I have Windows Vista and a Centrino Duo processor. When I open th processes tab under task manager, everything is running at a low, normal CPU, except for something called System Idle Process whcih only gets displayed when I choose Show Processes From All Users.

Is there anything else I can do to make the usage more efficient? And what is this Idle thing and why is it fluctuating so much?

    I hate VIsta.

  • How can I keep from getting a stomach virus?

MY roommate came home with a stomach virus today, which she thinks she caught from a professor at school because the professor went to Egypt and came back on Thursday and then was out with a virus on Friday.

Anyway, what can I do in the house to try and minimize the germs? I'm going to air the place out tomorrow and I've been spraying everything with Lysol. Anything else I should be aware of? I'm a law student, I can NOT afford to be sick!
