Ok. I am an African-American female. And I have dealt with this issue many times.

I have met guys, (Black guys), who have took an interest in me. As I started to get to know them, they told me how I was an 'exception' to their rule, and how they normally did not date black girls.

It hurt my feelings. I asked why, and they replied,

"Because black girls are always hella ghetto and loud. They have weaves and they fight with everybody and love attention."

This hurt my feelings even more. I feel like its wrong for men, especially BLACK men to believe this stereotype. Yes, we do have some 'ghetto' women in our race, but doesn't every race have some 'ghetto' women?

They call me the exception cause I wear my hair natural, dress nicely and talk proper. But I don't like being an exception.

Am I overreacting to being called an 'exception'?

And why do we continue to hold this negative stereotype of Black women?

I think its a pretty interesting question...

EVERYONE at my school are always complaining about how I smell like soap.

They say, its like a strong, bathroom, or dove soap. I bothers me, because, well, I'm a girl, and I want to smell sweet.

And I try all types of perfumes, and body sprays to cover it.. It's kind of embarrassing, because people will just say,

"You smell like soap" or if I come near someone, they'll say "It smells like soap".

Is there any way I can change this smell?

...starting to get REAL played out.

I mean DAMN, everytime I turn on the radio, that song is on.

And at first I liked it alot , but the more I hear it, the less and less I'm liking it.

Why does the radio do this?

I want thorough, truthful answers with some since in them. I don't want "No! He's white! Just because that's how he's suppose to be".

Ok folks, there are these scars all around my legs. They really sitck out. They're not like red and bumpy, they're permanent.

and it bothers me because im in my teens, and Im sick of wearing jeans all the time. also, im afraid to wear anything where my legs are showing because people react to it and say , "ugggh, what is wrong with your legs?".

I don't mean to boast, but I have really nice, slender legs and it bothers me that I can't show them in public.

Are there any ways I can hide them? Completly?

Okay, so here's my story guys.

So, there's this guy who I REALLY like and I think he likes me too. because he does all the signs that shows he likes me. For instance:

looking me in the eyes when he talks to me, gets really close to me, talks to me just to talk to me ( even for the stupidest reason), likes to touch me on my body (nowhere inappropiate but like he'll touch my arm or link arms with me), and he'll stare at me sometimes too loog, and always tease me (but cute tease).

so yeah. well I made the BIG mistake of telling my best friends and they all didn't say anything but then one of them CALLS him and tells him like "Oh yeah, she likes you. Do you like her?".

and he's all "I like her as a friend. she's cool and all".

so im a bit confused. i thought he liked me folks. why is he saying he doesn't like me? is it because he's afraid to share his feelings? he knows I like him now.

AND NOW, he won't talk to me because too many of my friends have been bothering him. bleh
