Lived in central Florida for 50 years, except for the 12 years we spent in S. Carolina. I am a beach/water kind of girl. I love boating and fishing, and until it was spoiled with threats of skin cancer, I loved baking in the sun. I have two wonderful granddaughters, who I am fortunate to live near and see often.

  • Are you having a white Christmas?

What's the weather like where you are, and where are you?

Right now I am in central Florida, it is sunny and 71 degrees, looking for a high of 81 today. (Too warm, but not complaining, considering what other parts of the country are having!)

  • Is a tree too much trouble, or what?

I put up a small artificial tree this year.

I know a lot of seniors don't bother with a Christmas tree. So, the question is...

Do you really not want a tree, or is it just too much trouble to put up and take down, and all the mess in between?

  • Who exactly actually got the money from?

I just read an article about gas prices dropping to $1. When gas was three dollars higher, at $4 per gallon, who was getting that money? I probably wasn't the gas station owner. Was it the big oil companies (Exxon, etc.) or the actual source of the oil, perhaps foreign countries? A three dollar difference is price is HUGE! Someone was a fat cat for a while. Who was it?

  • It's 8 pm here. Have you been getting any Trick-or-Treaters tonight?

We live in a retirement community, so we don't get any little ghosts and goblins here, but I miss them. Hubby and I have to eat all the candy ourselves. (darn!) lol

  • Who agrees with this statement?

If McCain wins the election, all the woes of the world will be blamed on him. If Obama wins, all the woes of the world will be blamed on Bush.

So the question is, do the democrats (who have been in control of the Senate for quite some time) ever take any of the blame, or are they just blameless finger-pointers?

  • Does anyone have shoulder problems?

My husband just found out yesterday that his shoulders have rotator cuff problems, but both are inoperable due to muscle loss. Have anyone or anyone you know gotten the shoulder operation with the prosthesis? Is so, is it working? Still in pain?

I'm asking this in seniors, because this is the age group that would be experiencing this. Thanks.

  • What nationality is the name Gustav?

We have our newest hurricane, Gustav, coming our way, but I was wondering what language is Gustav. I'm thinking it is Spanish, but I don't know for sure. If it is, what is the equivalent in English?

I'm asking this in Seniors because a) it's my favorite category and b) the seniors here are the smartest people I know.

  • Do you check the graphics on the Yahoo home page?

I always enjoy the graphics they use on the Yahoo Home Page. Today, I guess for the first day of summer, they have kids on a slip and slide. Do you notice these graphics each day?

  • What is your favorite bible verse?

I am making a directory for my church, and I want to add well-know bible verses here and there, so I just want to know which ones are your favorites. Thanks.

  • Are we losing our wonderful category to the younger generation?

Since I discovered the Senior Citizen category, I've loved it. People take the time to answer from their heart, and give thumbs up when appropriate, and even some thumbs down, needed or not. In other categories, such as Polls and Surveys, people ask and answer so fast it makes your eyes blur. Then no one gets thumbs up or down. Also, the best answer is generally done by the voters.

But it seems like just recently we have enticed the youngsters to visit our sight, and they are taking over. Does anyone else notice this? Maybe they are jealous and just want to be us!

  • How much food do I prepare...?

I have volunteered to make a taco dinner at our church for Vacation Bible School volunteers. I am making a taco dinner.

How much meat do I need for 50-60 people for tacos?

What other dishes can I serve along with it, and how do I keep them hot and how much of it should I make? (I don't have any chaffing dishes!)

  • Does anyone else in the family spend time...?

...on YA like you do? My husband doesn't really like computers, so he isn't interested at all, even when I tell him about some of the questions and answers. It's my little world of friends! I don't even have any friends who seem to have enough time for it. What about you?

  • Has anyone ever experienced sudden deafness?

Last Saturday I noticed that one of my ears seemed like it was clogged. I figured that I had water or wax in it. I treated it with over the counter stuff, and nothing helped. So I went to the doctor on Wednesday. He couldn't find anything wrong, so he is sending me to an audiologist tomorrow. I worried that I may be deaf in one ear, for no reason. Has this ever happened to anyone else, and does the hearing ever come back?

  • Mac Question: I need to download files from an old Power Mac?

I have an old power mac 7200/75 with a cd drive but no cd burner. I have have now bought a new mac with os 10.4.11. How do i get my files from one to the other. I don't have a cd burner on the old one, and the new one doesn't take the old floppys. I only have a couple files, and about 30 pics. My Apple dealer that let me pay $3,000 plus for computer and software has generously offered to download them for $150!!!, but I feel that I've already paid them enough. Surely this new computer can go into the other one and get those few files. I am not trying to transfer any applications. Please help.

  • Who is in the right about this matter?

My dad died last year. My brother, sister and I each inherited 1/3 of a piece of property. My sister and I really didn't want anything to do with the property, so my brother is using the whole thing. We would like for him to buy our share. He said he doesn't want to. Can we make him buy our share, or is our only recourse to begin using some of the property. It is a commercial parcel, but he has put his stuff on the whole thing. In order for us to use it, we will have to move his stuff. He has already opened a business, and we'd have to shove his stock aside, which will really make him mad. Can he use our inheritance, and not purchase it from us, and it is just too bad for us?
