  • Do I still have a chance at getting the job?

I interviewed for a job as a teacher. Then they asked me to come in a substitute for a day...the principal came in and observed me many times. It went very well, she even said so. She introduced me to the Head of School, who said they would have a decision for me by Friday. Friday came and went and I didn't hear anything. Today is Yom Kippur, so there is not school. They also told me if I didn't get the position I subbed for, I would most likely get to teach Spanish for a teacher who would be having her baby. Then, I saw an ad in the local paper this weekend for that position. I feel like something went wrong, and I'm would like people's opinions on this.

  • How bad is this verbal abuse?

My husband can be very cruel with what he says to me and my children (his stepchildren)

For example, today, my daughter (11) forgot to lock the door on the way into the house after school. He is very OCD about locking doors. He came up to her while she was doing her homework and started yelling at her and calling her a MORRON. He is scary when he does this. He often refers to us all as "sick" and says we "need an institution". He thinks he has a right to treat us like this, and I know he doesn't. I grew up w/ a lot of verbal abuse, and I don't want my children to have to live with this. He refuses to go to marriage counceling. We are probably going to get separated soon, which is very sad, because despite his bad temper, he can be very loving and sweet. I know what I should do, but I guess I just need to hear it.

  • Have you ever retained so much water in your testicles that you could barely walk?

This isn't a joke. My husband is retaining water from a kidney problem and/or allergic reaction (hereditary angio-edema). He is totally bloated all over, but the worst is that his testicles are about six times the normal size. It is painful and hard to walk. He knows that changing positions helps a little bit, as well as elevating the area with a pillow, but he is still suffering. If anyone has ever had a problem like this, did you come up with any other ways to alleviate the discomfort and make it easier to get around?

  • How much weight did you gain on predinsone, and how long did it take to lose it?

My husband had a predinsone shot about six weeks ago and is now on prednisone pills for a kidney problem. He went from weighting 184 to 215...and counting.

  • My husband had a picc line at the hospital and now it is leaking water. Is this normal?

He has a lot of water retention in his whole body. He came home from the hospital yesterday, and they removed his picc line (a port to take blood, place IV, etc.) Tonight, the hole where it went into his arm has started leaking quite a bit of water. Is this normal? there is no no blood coming out, but the actual little hole looks slightly infected.

  • What can be done about pit bull fighting?

Someone here (y answers) asked how we like their website. I clicked on it and it is obvious to me that this person breeds pits for fighting. On the site, she lists links to friends. They all are the same, spotlighting the digs with their teeth bearing, looking tough, and some even sell DVDs of dogs fighting! All that I found were in the UK, and I know nothing about their laws, but I feel SICK seeing this and knowing these people can make websites and not get caught.

Nothing makes me angrier than people that abuse animals for their personal entertainment.

  • Where does the name Ori-Pei come from?

An Ori-Pei is a cross between a Pug and a Shar-pei. I just don't get where the "Ori" comes from. Not one of those three letters in in the word "pug"? Anybody know?

  • Have advice on my dryer machine problem?

I've been running my washer and dryer all day long today (trying to catch up with the laundry) and just now, I put a load in the dryer and it won't work. When I push the button, it starts to tumble and make the "working" noise, but as soon as I take my finger off the button, it stops. Could it just be overheated from using it all day long? Any advice is much appreciated.

  • What happens to members who get reported for abuse?

I have reported a few, and was just wondering. Do they get notified? How many reports does it take to be kicked out? Can they just make up new accounts and come back? I think it is a shame some people have to make this place nasty!!!

  • Why won't my Bougainvillea bloom?

I live in South Florida and I have a couple of bougainvillea plants that grow like crazy but NEVER bloom. I've tried some special food to make plants bloom, but nothing happened. I know not to give them much water (I never water them, as a matter of fact, but they get some from rain), they get sun...

  • My 11 year old daughter says she likes a boy who is bisexual!?

I wasn't happy that she even knew what that was! Is it harmless? She and her friend have a crush on him, they met him at the skating rink. They act all goofy, screaming at him as if he is a rock star. He is 14, wears mascara and goes in the girls' restroom. He seems nice enough, and if they treated him like a normal friend, I don't think I would have a problem with it. I'm sure it is normal kid stuff, but this just hit me too soon. I am a pretty liberal person, but I'm having a lot of conflicting feelings about my kid. If there are a lot of people I would rather not have her hang around with, should we stop going to that rink altogether, or should I try to teach her how to act more appropriately. I know the latter sounds much better, but I have tried that and it is much harder to accomplish. I know if I restrict her too much she will become rebeleous.

  • Should I sue the skating rink?

I took my kids roller skating Sat. night and because a kid was cuting across the floor the wrong direction, a man swerved and knocked me down and I landed on the side of my face. I had to go the ER and I don't have health insurance. I am fine, but in a lot of pain (was given painkillers and anti-inflamitory meds) and will miss work. I hate the culture of suing for everything, but I'm also worried about my hosptial bills and if I may have any long term damage I don't know about yet.
