  • Which subjects should I take next year?

Okay I'm having a little bit of a bafflement about this. Where I live, we must take Afrikaans, English, Mathematics, Life Orientation and 3 other subjects of our choices. We are also allowed an 8th subject.

So here are my possible choices:

    - Accounting

    - Business studies

    - Computer Technology (CAT) OR Hospitality Studies (cooking)

And AP English as an 8th subject.

So my question is, should I take Computer Technology or Hospitality Studies?

I have equal interest in computers as I have in cooking and I have no idea what I wanna be one day.

All answers appreciated, thanks in advance!

  • Having my tonsils removed (age 14). Any advice/tips? Sooo nervous!?

Hi I'm 14 years old and I might be having my tonsils removed soon. I went to the doc because I was sick (have been sick a lot lately) so the doc said my tonsils are the reason I'm always sick. So he made an appointment for me at another doctor close by who's gonna examine and tell me if I have to have them removed. Do I have reason to be nervous? Should I be scared? Is 14 a good or bad age to have them removed? Please give me tips and advice and share your experiences with me. Thanks !

  • Brackets on braces fell off? What should I do?

I have a question for either professionals or experienced people. Yesterday I asked professionals what they think about my bite, they said it was normal. I will attach the link for the photos of my bite again so other people who haven't seen the other question can see.

Anyway, so last week I went to the orthodontist and they put two hooks at the bottom and one at the top, so when I have my elastics in it looks like a triangle. But now 2 of the hooks on the one side fell of and the others are loose (I haven't been eating anything unusual so I think they just didn't put it on well enough). So my question is, should I go back and have them fix it, which will cost me (well actually my parents haha) extra money, or does my bite look good enough for me to stop wearing them? I'm only going back for my next appointment in 5 weeks, if that matters.

Thanks in advance, any help/advice appreciated :)

Here is the link for the photos:

  • Professional opinions from dentists, orthodontists or oral hygienists please?

My orthodontist told me my braces could come off once my bite is correct, and everything else is fine. So he gave me these triangular elastics to use and said to come back after 6 weeks and if my bite is correct they can come off. So I've been wearing my elastics and I want to know if my bite looks correct yet? Please follow the link below to see the pictures.

  • Sudden facial rash from drinking alcohol?

Hi, I am 18 years old and legal. Since yesterday after casual drinking (mainly absinthe and gin) I experienced a sudden rash on my face. It kinda looks like flat pimples and sunburn somehow jammed into one. It went away after a short while, but today I drank one can of beer and a vodka-mixed drink. I got the same rash again and I am worried that it is an allergic reaction to alcohol.

Does anyone have advice for me or has anyone experienced something similar?

    Thank you in advance :)

  • GUYS and girls - how do you feel about girls who take pictures of themselves?

Like in a way that you can see the arm or see that she took the picture in the mirror. Do you think it makes the girl self-centred or vain if she does take pictures of herself or is it acceptable to you?

  • Is it dumb to want to be a teacher when I'm older?

I am in high school currently and I have been wanting to be a teacher one day for a long time. I want to teach English to high school students, but my parents say they don't make enough money and I have to become a doctor or lawyer or something. My grades are good which is why they think I can do better but I feel that teaching is my calling. (I know I might seem too young to think about my future already but I am very organized and plan everything ahead). Please tell me if you think I should be a teacher one day or consider something else?

  • Should I go vegetarian? Advice from teen vegetarians?

Hi :) I'm a 14 year old girl and I hate the idea of eating cute and innocent animals. I have always been an animal activist and I feel it's unfair towards the animals. But I grew up with meat and I am used to it, my parents thought I was crazy when I told them I wanted to be one haha. I really want to go veggie though. I have the following concerns:

    - It would be awkward when I'm eating at a friend's house or at my boyfriend's parents; I wouldn't want it to be inconvenient or offensive to anyone

    - My parents won't have our maid cook separate meals for me, which means I will have to live from side dishes like salad and broccoli, etc.

    - School tours that are compulsory and last a week are always a concern, because they give us meals like beef lasagne or spaghetti bolognaise and there's no skipping

Any advice from teen vegetarians? Opinions?

    Thanks :)

  • Guys, am I being too harsh in your opinions?

Please don't think I'm some kind of ego-maniac now. That's why I'm asking it here, because I'm scared my friends might think I have some kind an ego. So here goes.

I keep friendzoning guys, not because I want to be mean or anything, just because I am not interested in being more than friends. This one guy was heartbroken for months because of me. I know of two other guys who have liked me for years now. And there are plenty more. Once this guy came to me and asked me if I get satisfaction out of breaking guys' hearts daily. This made me feel so bad, but also confused because I am never mean or anything, I just say "Sorry, no, I just want to be friends." My point is that I feel I shouldn't have to give everyone a chance, but is that mean of me? Is it a bad thing that I am waiting for the right guy? GUYS, please give your honest opinions! I would really appreciate it :) thank you x

  • Too many rules in my house, don't like inviting people over?

My mom died a while back and my dad married this lady and I am not sure how I feel about her. Sometimes I like her, sometimes I don't. She has so many rules in this house (my real mother was pretty cool) like we're not allowed to put our feet on the coffee table, we're not allowed to eat in front of the TV, not allowed to have any sweets or nice food, only allowed to switch on the TV after four, no boys in my room, even if i leave the door open, and MANY more. My stepmother is also in a bad mood very often, and all my friends are scared of her. And to top things off, I also now have a little stepbrother and sister, who are very loud and annoying and the house is always a mess because of them. Now take my friends - they have awesome parents, can stay out until whenever they want, barely have any rules and people love going to their houses. I hate inviting people over, and this has also stopped me from having a boyfriend (I am embarrassed of my family). Please help, I don't know what to do! Should I talk to my parents, my friends? PLEASE!! xx
