  • How much should we give our friends in baby shower gift?

Our friend, who just had a baby gave us a $ 40 gift card last month as a baby shower gift for us. Now that the table has been turned, should we give them the same amount, more or less?

    Thanks

  • Atheist, how do you set boundries of moral value?

I'm not asking where do you get your moral value but how do you set your moral boundaries?

Example, Do you think prostitution should be legalize? If you answer no because it's degrading to woman, what's the different with female executive working in the office, actress or model? aren't they also being used by their employer?

Since prostitution is actually legal in some counties in the state of Nevada would you say yes to legalize prostitution if you were born and raised there?

  • What can Atheist do but not Christian?

Any example of REAL things that only Atheist can do but not Christian?

I'm not talking about what you believe or don't believe.

An example of real things will be:

    - Sleeping in on Sunday morning

    - 420 friendly, swearing

    - Get a hold of Ipad3 before being release, or something like that.

Just want to know if Christians are actually missing alot by not doing all of that stuff.

  • Atheist, what do you think of this statement?

"The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence," this was said by Felicia Goldstein, an Emory University neurology professor in an article on Yahoo today. Although the article is not about religion, the statement itself could also shows that absence of evidence of God is not evidence of absence of God.

I believe there are plenty of scientific research and historical artifacts that support biblical accounts but do you think she is just plain ignorant or delusional?

Here's the link to the article:

  • Where Do Ideas Come From?

Are human just an organic matter that will expire in time?

If so, is it possible for two identical twins with an EXACTLY the same DNA, physical, genes and experience in life (food, environment, etc) from the beginning (as a fetus) present two different ideas about something?

I know their fingerprints might be different but I don't think ideas come from your fingerprint.

  • Who Should I Invite to a Birthday Party?

We're not sure who to invite to our kid's birthday party. Should we just invite friends who have kid around our kid's age or should we invite all of our friends who have kids?

If one friend have two kids, one is about the same age and the other is much older (3-4 yrs older), Should we invite them or not?

Additional note: We invited all of our friends who have kids in the past but I want to cut down this year. All of our friends are also in the same circle so they know each other.

  • Existance of God Argument?

What do you think of the following argument to prove the existence of God?

William Paley (1743-1805) in design argument is saying that because the world is complex and ordered (like a watch), that this could not have come about by chance, but must be the product of intelligent design. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchmaker_analogy

Blaise Pascal (1623-62) wager. "Let us weigh the gain and the loss in wagering that God is... If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing. Wager, then, without hesitation that He is". (Pensees, 233). So it is still better for us to 'gamble' on belief in God, rather than not. By examining the probability of God existing, the benefits of God existing, and the consequences of choosing either to believe or not to believe in God, he claims that people have more to lose by living as atheists, than not.

  • Is there any point in answering religious question?

It seems that most people who ask question about Christianity already have an answer in mind. On top of that, genuine response to answers/ explain Christianity/ Deity of God usually get thumbs down. Is this what the bible refer to in Mathew 7:6?
