Looking for the name of a Hamburger Extender made of Soy from the 70's?
There was a product in the mid to late 70's that was made of some kind of soybean meal that was added along with some water to a pound of hamburger to make like a pound and a half of hamburger. I wasn't Hamburger Helper, but some catchy name like that. If memory serves it might have been made by Lipton.
4 AnswersCooking & Recipes7 years agoCan I use C6 LED's on artificial Christmas trees?
I like the look of the old fashioned C7 Christmas tree bulbs, but they get hot and melt artificial trees.
Supposedly the new LEDs give off no heat.
So my question is: can I use the newer C6 LEDs on an artificial tree without damaging the tree?

3 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police9 years agoCan the president pardon an innocent man?
40 years ago today, a group of five men known as the White House plumbers, broke into the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate building on the direct orders of a sitting president. The scandal eventually led to the resignation of Richard Nixon, on August 9, 1974.
I think Gerald Ford’s subsequent pardon of Richard Nixon should have been declared illegal as you cannot legally pardon a man who has never been indicted, brought to trial, or convicted of a crime.
Alexander Haig admitted he told Ford that some of Nixon's staff suggested that Nixon could agree to resign in return for an agreement that Ford would pardon him. The appearance of impropriety of that action alone should have been enough to void the pardon

I am replacing self-stick tiles on a cement floor. Concrete is solid and no cracks.
Under the original is what appears to be a sticky black mastic (adhesive)
Is it advisable to just remove old tile and relay the new self stick tiles right over the black stuff or does it need to be prepped with some sort of sealant or removed ?

3 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoDo all appliances use electricity when turned off?
I have been told all appliances use electricity even when turned off. Please explain how.
I'm not talking about refrigerators, or instant on TV's or computers in "Standby" mode or appliances that have timers, or have internal circuits that are always on. I am asking how a simple toaster or electric can opener, or a lamp plugged into the wall-socket, can draw electricity while not in use.
Using the original logic of unplugging everything not in use you would also have to unscrew every light bulb in the house and disconnect the doorbell. My understanding of electricity is a circuit in not complete unless current flows. An off switch stops that flow. Therefore no electricity is used.

What takes precedence, the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement (CBA) or the individual players’ contract with the team? If a player was given a multi-year contract still valid for the next 3 years how can he go on strike when he is contractually obligated to still play ball.
Facts, no opinions please.

1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoMissing Workers Comp $ Question?
I was injured on job (herniated disks and pinched nerves in neck). Company was paying temporary total disability (TTD). They fired my first rep and I fell through cracks for 4 mts. No one would not OK a spine specialist recommended by my orthopedic doctor and also the pain specialist doctor had. I had a release from work. TTD checks then abruptly stopped in April. I called and they wanted another release, which I supplied. They then want their doctor to examine me. Their doctor said I needed surgery. I finally received approval to see my neurosurgeon and he also says I need surgery.
Mysteriously the TTD checks have since reappeared, but they have missed a total of 14 weeks and have refused to give me an answer as to when they will pay the back TTD. How do I get the missing 14 weeks?

4 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade ago2010 Census and re-apportionment?
With all the sophisticated computer mapping, & demographic breakdowns we have available why are we still gerrymandering congressional districts? Yeah, I know that’s how incumbents stay in office by why don’t the demonstrators and activists on both sides (who want to oust incumbents) endorse using computers to align congressional districts SOLELY on census data and not on protecting political power bases.
2 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoObama and the national debt?
I read here Obama has either doubled or trippled the national debt, depending on the source. Maybe we should look at the real numbers.
National Debt Numbers
A lot has been said about government spending and debt. Let’s take a look at actual government numbers
National Debt when Clinton Left office (as of 9/30/00) $ 5.674 trillion
From http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/hist...
Actual Budget (+ or -) +$230 billion (From COB figures)
During the Clinton years, a strong economy persisted, and part of the tax on the rich that existed before Reagan was resumed. These things caused tax revenue to increase slightly faster than spending. One pundit observed that the gridlock created by having a Republican congress with a Democratic president prevented spending from increasing any faster.
(From http://conceptualmath.org/philo/fedbgt.htm)
National Debt when Bush Left office (as of 12/31/08) $ 10.024 trillion
From http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/hist...
Budget (+ or -) -$239 billion (From COB figures)
George W. Bush, along with the Republican congress increased discretionary spending 26%, the largest increase since WWII. They also decreased revenues with a large tax cut given primarily to the rich. This combination led to the worst increase in the deficit since WWII.
(From http://conceptualmath.org/philo/fedbgt.htm)
No GOP was complaining/
National Debt today (current as of 9/30/09) $11,909 trillion
From http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/hist...
Barack H. Obama during the largest recession since 1929 only raised the debt $1 trillion without a tax increase. Bush raised it $4.589 trillion and not a word was said. WHY?
11 AnswersElections1 decade agoHow safe are our GPS satellites from hackers?
Everything from our cars and cell phones to cruise missiles, fighter jets to soldiers on the ground rely on GPS now. Everyone of our new defense systems and "smart" bombs rely on GPS satellites to work.
Hackers have gotten into the Pentagon, GM, CitiBank and White house systems...what makes the US military think the GPS satellites are safe from hackers? All it will take is a terrorist with a degree from MIT and computer and everything comes to a crashing halt. The same goes for our power grid.
