  • What is a cost effective way to create a sound barrier?

I manage a hotel that has a restaurant attached to it. The Restaurant is leased out to a separate entity but they plan on having live entertainment. The problem is that music always ends up disturbing the guests that are closest to the Restaurant. The previous leaser did not care but the new leaser does and we are trying to come up with a cost effective way to create a sound barrier effective enough to keep from disturbing the hotel guests. The sound proofing sites I have been to are too expensive for a start up business. I've been doing a lot of searching and come up with the idea of building a Plexiglas shield to deflect the sound away from the hotel. Is this idea going to work or do I need to go back to the drawing board?

  • How to I iolate individual sounds in a wave file.?

I have been trying to isolate individual sounds with in a wave file so I can delete them from the file or amplify them. Basically I have digitized and analog recording from a cassette tape and have been trying to clean it up so that is sounds good. I have been using Gold Wave to do the cleaning up. The tape is a recording of a friend's deceased sister singing gospel music in church. There is some sound distortion and feedback I have been trying to edit out. Basically I want to edit out the garbage and leave the vocals and music. Is there software that can separate each sound to a specific track? I have been trying for weeks now through trial an error with mostly error. Any advise ideas would be helpful.

  • What do you think of this theory?

"Belief or disbelief in anything does not change the existence of anything."

Ok, so it might be more like a hypothesis than a theory. But its general purpose is to explain why people would believe in something that can't actually be proven by scientific means, such as the existence of God. And why others will deny the existence of something for the same reason, but still justify their belief or disbelief.

  • Calculate the relative speed of a vehicle relative to the observer.?

Ok this question is based upon a real life experience. I am in a vehicle on a relatively straight road that goes on for miles. My vehicle is traveling at a relative speed of 85 mph. I notice a vehicle in my rear-view mirror just enter the extreme range of that mirror's vision. I aproximately 5 seconds I was passed by this vehicle and was in the extreme range of my forward vision. The day was sunny and clear with no glare from the sun. How fast was this vehicle going relative to my observation point as driver of the vehicle going 85?

This car was moving so fast that I could not possitively identify and of it features every thing was a blur. I think that it was greyish. You can assume any relative distance between my vehicle and the two extreme ranges. I have perfect 20/20 vision if that helps. I just seem to be drawing a blank on how to approach this problem. It's not urgent just bugs me.
