How to I iolate individual sounds in a wave file.?

I have been trying to isolate individual sounds with in a wave file so I can delete them from the file or amplify them. Basically I have digitized and analog recording from a cassette tape and have been trying to clean it up so that is sounds good. I have been using Gold Wave to do the cleaning up. The tape is a recording of a friend's deceased sister singing gospel music in church. There is some sound distortion and feedback I have been trying to edit out. Basically I want to edit out the garbage and leave the vocals and music. Is there software that can separate each sound to a specific track? I have been trying for weeks now through trial an error with mostly error. Any advise ideas would be helpful.

There are only noise filters and other classes of filters that work across the whole spectrum of frequencies. There is no such thing as a filter that does what you want to do (other than the human brain).

In our current understanding of signals (audio), systems (amplifiers, filters, etc.), communications (recording, playing back, listening), it is mathematically impossible to do what you want to do.

The first person to actually invent such a filter based on novel techniques beyond our current level of knowledge, will be an instant billionaire.
