Recent widower but now re-married Electrical Engineer in Aerospace company (sort of makes me qualified for answering Engineering, Math, Physics, & Space categories). - Musician (trombone, trumpet, bass guitar, rythym guitar, home recording studio, ex-DJ-jazz). Active bass player in a band. - Part time amateur astronomer. - Pet owner (cats & dog) for decades - Ex-nail salon owner - Other subjects, I will state my experience as a source. I only answer questions for which I have some direct knowledge thereof, or in which opinion, only, is an answer. I ONLY ANSWER QUESTIONS ON WEEKDAYS -- RARELY ON WEEKENDS. I MAY NOT CHOOSE TO ANSWER DIRECT E-MAIL QUESTIONS BECAUSE I AM VERY BUSY, LATELY. .
I have searched high and low and cannot find the answer. What caliber was Pachalbel's canon?

1 AnswerOther - Electronics1 decade agoWhat should I cook for my date. Opinions/recipes please?
My lady friend will be visiting this weekend. We have been dating for several months. I am more-than-competent in the kitchen, but I am out of ideas because I haven't cooked for so long (wife died 8 months ago). I have a recipe magazine "Cooking for Two", but I thought I would throw it out to the
Y!Answers community.
Neither of us are vegetarian/vegan. She likes to experiment in the kitchen and likes a very wide variety of foods (more than I do).
Ideas, please?
Thanks
If one recipe *really* stands out, I'll award best answer, otherwise I'll leave it up to the community to vote.

The ESPN CollegeGameday show every Saturday morning. It seems like they are always there, for every single show.

Please have more than just an opinion... cite some Facebook announcement, or news item.
4 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoPlease read details... What should a widower do about on-line dating?
I am a recent widower (hence the avatar's sad face). I entered my name in a few online dating sites and several women have started e-mailing me. This is new to me. I expected that I would be the one making first contacts -- not the other way around (but that comes from not having to date someone new for over 28 years).
Is is OK for me to tell any of these woman there are others who are interested? What about those who are only interested in scamming a lonely heart -- how can you tell?

I found the answer to the question over the weekend. But I can't tell.
18 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWhy is the Ampere the fundamental SI unit concerning electric phenomenon, and not the Coulomb?
I've done my own research over the years to find the answer to this question, with little result.
It seems to me that the Coulomb is more basic than the Ampere afterall, the Ampere is a rate of charge -- Coulombs per second -- while Coulombs are fundamental attributes of charged particles (electrons, protons).
Sure, Amperes can be measured independantly as a Force (kg*m/s^2, etc.) in 2 wires, but Coulombs can also be measured independantly (Milikan's experiment, etc.). So, is it because we must rely on the mass of subatomic particles to be an absolute constant, that the Coulomb is not used as a fundamental SI unit?
One other thought... If the Coulomb would be considered to replace the Ampere, then I would also propose a new measure of current: A mole of fundamental charge per second. This would be approximately 96,500 Amps which is a very large current in practice. Look at the unit, "Farad", it is also a very large unit, in practice. I don't have a name for the new unit.
6 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoWhy does my count of Best answers (in Engineering, alone), disagree with your count?
My count of best answers for the category of Engineering is about 10 more than your count as posted in the top-10 list (I am in the top-10 answerers for the Engineering category). Are you only counting certain best answers, such as ones where there was more than one answer (not ones where I was the only answer)? Do you only count best answers if the asker chooses it as best? Is there any other criteria we don't know about? Or... did you just count wrong?

We are an older couple -- friends of the family -- and have been invited to their daughter's 16th. We have no idea what to get her (we have no kids of our own). What do 16-year old girls like now-a-days?
