    Pachelbels cannon was a bit of a misnomer. It was actually a .50 caliber gatling gun.

    A cannon in this case is a synonym for a fugue. Its a music style where the same melody is repeated and comes in at different intervals throughout the piece. Canon and cannon are not at all the same.
