Is my giant tropical millipede dead?
My millipede used to be very active at night, but her activity started to slow about a week ago. But still, if I touched her, her legs would move. Now, she looks dead, with no leg movement at all. I've read that millipedes will molt, I've read that they hibernate, but I don't know if this is what I'm seeing.
2 AnswersOther - Pets10 years agoShould I open up my laptop to try to fix screen flicker?
The display on my Dell XPS 1730 started to flicker randomly, and makes a buzzing sound about the time that this happens. At boot-up, or after a display mode change, the system will go up to maximum brightness for a ten to fifteen seconds, but then starts to flicker at a lower brightness. Is this something that I might be able to fix by simply opening it up and cleaning the connectors, tightening up wires, etc? Is it worth my time, or should I go and pay for a service technician to come out and look at it? The system is out of warranty, and I've done such things as added memory, removed the hard-drive, added an internal Bluetooth radio, etc.
2 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoHow much money would it take to stop the NYSE from dropping at -1,000 points?
With the market capitalization at around 26 trillion dollars, some have speculated that the government secretly stopped the market's freefall yesterday. I sincerely doubt it, as I'm guessing it would take about a 1 to 2 trillion dollar infusion - no pocket change. My wife (with an economics degree) disagrees. What do you think?
1 AnswerEconomics1 decade agoIs a coaxial dolby digital with rca a/b switch OK?
I have an older Bose Dolby digital receiver (LifeStyle 12) with only coaxial dolby digital. I have three dolby digital coaxial devices (blue ray, tv receiver, and computer). Since there is only one DD input to the receiver, is it OK to use an RCA a/b switch to control which device I'm using, or will this cause a loss of quality in the audio? I have high-end Monster Dolby Digital coax cables for each device.

1 AnswerLos Angeles1 decade agoIf same sex marriage was universally allowed, would it not require an extensive rewrite of our tax code?
The intent of the tax breaks for married couples would inevitably spill to heterosexual roommates that marry for a tax break, perpetuating the continued destruction of the sanctity of marriage. Any thoughts? This is not gay-bashing. I just need a little help seeing a practical way of implementing their rights in a fair tax code that does not ultimately erode the intent of tax breaks aimed at helping the family unit.
7 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow bad is it that, as a society, we have agreed to disagree?
Everyone is entitled to their views, however, part of the dialectic process is to discuss and arrive at consensus based on those discussions, and move forward. We no longer do that, and I'm thinking this cannot be good for our overall intellectual growth.
