Left- or right-hand drive… Which is best?
I live in the UK and drive on the left. I've spent years in France where they drive on the right. I'm convinced that right-hand cars are better because you have your weaker (left) hand on the gearstick, and your stronger hand where it's needed on the wheel. It's easier to do handbrake turns and generally show off too.
Apparently the reason we in the UK drive on the left is because in mediaeval times it was more natural to pass a stranger to his left, so your protective and stronger or sword arm was between you and him. Same if you were on a coach or horse. The Japanese are the same, from days of the Samurai, when clonking your scabbard on the scabbard of another Samurai as you passed would force a duel. In any case I still think driving on the left is better because of the hand arrangement, and I'm not sure why anyone would elect to drive on the right. Any ideas?
3 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoMy kitten wont eat - please help?
Hi,
I've just got a tiny 7 week old kitten who was the runt of a litter of four. She became ill about 8 days ago, partly because she was pushed out by her siblings and ultimately ignored by her mother. I took her to the RSPCA because she wasn't eating and became very weak; they ran some tests (inconclusive), rehydrated her via IV and gave her some antibiotics. I picked her up after 36 hours. I stopped giving her the antibiotics after 2 days because she had improved so dramatically and administering the pills was very traumatic (probably a mistake). So she was lively as you'd expect for about 5 days, but in the last two she has (almost completely) stopped eating again, and is now very lethargic, though she is drinking Dioralyte fairly regularly. She sleeps almost constantly. I've put her back on the antibiotics because I can only assume she has some kind of digestive infection but I'm very worried. Before I take her back to the RSPCA, does anyone have any advice? I look after her constantly and she's very bright eyed and animated in bursts.
Many thanks
James

I just read this as part of an answer to a different question. I'm a shooter, and my brother is a gun dealer. All the same; has anyone seen a more ridiculous comment?
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade ago2003 VW Beetle freak window problem?
A friend of mine has a hard top 2-door 2003 Beetle which hasn't given her too many problems so far. On Sunday, we parked it with the windows up, and the following morning both windows had completely lowered themselves. I understand that VW remedied window regulator problems prior to releasing the 2003 model so that shouldn't apply here. But for both windows to roll down spontaneously is freakish. The car doesn't even have a single button to control both windows, so it can't be a problem there either.
I'm loath to send the car for repairs as the windows still appear to function perfectly well, and the dealership will undoubtedly bluster and bullshit their way through replacing the entire mechanism at huge expense.
Any ideas?

Among the American people? It strikes me that Democrats view themselves as more sophisticated, and Republicans as more realistic.
