Are you worried about having a Nuclear Stress Test?
Three weeks ago I asked questions about the reasons for one and what to expect. Some responses were helpful but I really didn't get all the answers I was looking for. Do you know the differences in what a Nuclear stress test are getting that make it more advantageous than an echocardiogram?
I was also told how bad the test was. In my opinion, the test itself really was not a big deal. There was slight discomfort in inserting the needle, but I felt nothing from the injection itself. It took about three and a quarter hour from start to finish, but before they can take the initial pictures you have time to grap a bite to eat.
The beginning of Apheresis is probablymore uncomfortable than this injection, but I would still encourage people do Apheresis to help others rather than shy away from a slight discomfort. The same with this test. IF a doctor has a good reason (I still am not sure what my doctor's was) don't panic..it is a relatively easy test.

rev al has already called for the US to demand an apology for the comments made in a German training film. Should the US go to war because of this comment?
5 AnswersMedia & Journalism1 decade agoShould NYC Police have to spend the money to protect Rev al from death threats?
Won't he try to turn around and charge them all with hate crimes as well as he has to other police officers who try to do their job without getting killed?
8 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoIs a Myocardial wall motion study the same as a nuclear stress test?
I was scheduled for a nuclear stress test, but the health insurance had it pending clinical evaluation. I got the paperwork back, and it states that it is a Myocardial wall motion study and the second form calls it a Myocardial perf. with SPECT multi. Since it also says that the authorization number is not a guarantee of payment, I am wondering just what they have authorized. I had already rescheduled the test, but do not want to pay two thousand dollars for a test I am still not a hundred percent sure I should have.
1 AnswerHeart Diseases1 decade agoDon't you pity poor rev al?
After all, how many people of any culture would try to do so much to degrade and shame black people. He gets on television to say "he wasn't gloating" well he shouldn't be he did nothing posititve. as usual rev al is just mocking all black people by making all his "stands" on controversial issues to create hatred.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat is it with doctors and PAs that make them feel superior & think people are clueless & can't question them
When asking questions here, some people take the same attitude as doctors. You can try to ask questions, but can't always get a straight answer.
When my daughter had cleft palate surgery, the interns wanted to know "how are you going to feed her" Luckily I had done my research. When they tested my son for HIV instead of Epstein Barr, I was glad I did my research.
Yes, I have a problem accepting the word of doctors, but unfortunately I know too many people who have died after "simple" procedures. When questioning before the surgery, the doctors act like "this is as easy as taking out an appendix, don't act like a baby"
Sorry, but until I find a doctor that is willing to discuss the possible complications and the pros and cons of doing a procedure, I will continue to be leary.
But, I don't think anyone has the right to assume that I don't take care of my health, I don't exercise or watch diet. How can women get doctors to LISTEN and treat them with respect?
4 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoIs questioning a doctor's decision, "protesting too much"?
Earlier I asked about the need for a nuclear stress test as opposed to doing a less invasive echo-cardiogram. Yes, for as long as I can remember, which would be over thirty years, my bp has been high in doctor's offices. I monitor my bp several times aday because of this. I don't think I am protesting too much if I really want to know the validity of this test over others, or the real need for it. It is absurd if you cannot make a visit to your gp withouth them obsessing on the bp to the point that they forget what it is you came in for.
I keep being told the risks are minimal... but sorry, I have heard that about surgeries that people have ended up dying from.
Since bp is high in a doctor's office, I don't really want to be caged in one for four hours.
I am sorry for the people who might think doctors are infallible, I certainly don't.
5 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoShould a patient submit to a nuclear stress test without having any symptoms to suggest the need for one?
Having been diagnosed with white coat syndrome, the doctor suggests a nuclear stress test. Being trapped in a doctor's office, where blood pressure readings are highest doesn't seem to be an answer to lowering blood pressure readings. Readings out of the doctor's office, including the blood bank, are in normal range. Why is a nuclear stress test indicated. An echocardiogram was done earlier upon which the cardiologist diagnosed white coat syndrome.
7 AnswersHeart Diseases1 decade agoWhat is more important, the overall cholesterol rate or the ratio of good cholesterol?
When I look at printouts of blood work, it lists total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides and a cholesterol/hdl ratio. It states that the ratio should be <4.4. Is the lower the ratio better? And, should that be considered when looking at the total cholesterol picture?
2 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoShould a nuclear stress test be the first step if a patient has been diagnosed with "white coat" syndrome?
For years, the doctors have told me my blood pressure is high. I monitor it at home with normal results. The cardiologist did a normal stress test and an echocardiogram four years ago. He states now he doesn't expect the results to be any different, but suggests a nuclear stress test. I am very leary of any injectables without sufficient cause. What are the real risks involved with complications?
