  • What is the benefit of rough play for a 2yr old boy?

My 2yr old son loves to play rough with me. He like the usual stuff, being tossed in the air, wrestling, being swung around etc. Other then helping the father/son bond what else does it do for him?

  • What can women learn from men?

Most men can learn to be a little more thoughtful of others needs and feelings from women. But what can women learn from men? Seriously now try not be patronising, answers like "how to drive" or "how to be lazy" won't get you 10 points.

  • Can you recommend any CCNA audio lectures?

I want to study for the CCNA and it would really help to have some lectures to listen to in the car. Does anyone know any good ones that explain the concepts well?

  • ideas for two boarding displays at child level?

I am helping reorganize a nursery class for 2-3 y.o. in the messy room (lunch, and art activities) there are two boards that are from the floor to the knee or thigh height, they can not be moved as they are part of the furniture that separates the room, what kind of displays can I put?

in the same room I have already designed a place for the children photos, and birthdays, and I am unsure if a board with "the class golden rules" will go unnoticed there.

any sugestions for something bright and nice and not too seasonal?

    thanks!

  • What are the great unsayable truths?

It used to be that if you said something bad about the royal family or the church you would get lynched, chased out of town or least told off by everyone even if what you say is true. What if anything can't you say today even though it is true, show evidence if you like.

I'll start us off with a little one: The Beatles were overrated, some of their songs were mediocre.

  • How can I help my wife cope with her feelings about our son starting nursery?

Our 11 month old son starts nursery next week (for 3 days a week)and when we left him there for the tryouts he just cried and cried. The staff just told my wife that it was a tantrum and I guess implied that ignoring his crying would stop the tantrums eventually. The thing is my wife now feels awful because she is afraid we are doing the wrong thing. Should we just tell the nursery not to ignore him. Or should she just be tough? Other than just being there for her do you have any other suggestions? (she hates chocolate).

  • Drugging your baby with Calpol?

Would you give your baby Calpol if it seemed a lot more grumpy than usual (15 weeks old)? We're not sure if he is sick with a cold or if he is teething yet, bored or just being a pain in the butt. Any thoughts?

  • My employer is useless, where can I blow the whistle on them?

My employer treats most of its staff really poorly, except those that are related to or friends with the directors. They don't break the law but they are mean spirited and family unfriendly, especially for a fostering agency. So does anyone know of a website where people can name & shame useless employers. MY career there is dead anyway so I have nothing to lose.

  • Flexible working in the UK?

My application for flexible working was turned down yesterday on the grounds there was no business case. I applied because I have a 1month old son and I wanted to do 0730-1600 to miss the rush hour and spend more time with him. Anyway my manager forgot to take the application to the meeting where these things are usually discussed so I asked HR what was going to happen and later that day I was told it was turned down. If it did not go through the same process most other applications go through do I have a case to appeal against this?
