Nah, I wasn't raised at gunpoint And I've read too many books To distract me from the mirror When unhappy with my looks And I ain't got proper diction For the makings of a thug Though I grew up in the ghetto And my n*ggas all sold drugs And though that may validate me For a spot on MTV And get me all the airplay That my bank account would need I was hoping to invest in A lesson that I learned When I thought this fool would jump me Just because it was my turn... Talk to strangers when family fails And friends lead you astray When Buddha laughs and Jesus weeps And it turns out God is gay 'Cause angels and messiahs Love can come in many forms In the hallways of your projects Or the fat girl in your dorm And when you finally take the time To see what they're about And perhaps you find them lonely Or their wisdom trips you out *Saul Williams

  • Should my wife tell her son?

So my wife has a son from a previous marriage. The father is I'll very much in his sons life and takes him most weekends. My step son is now 12.

His father had another child with another woman and put the child up for adoption maybe about 5 years ago. But no one has told my step son that he has a sibling somewhere out there.

My wife really wants to tell him and feels guilty that she hasn't. But I told her that it was his father's responsibility. Though he has not shown any effort or willingness to do so.

So should my wife tell her son that he has a sibling somewhere out there that was adopted?

  • Why won't my car start after attempting to install new stereo?

I have a 93 jeep grand cherokee. The car will not start, has no turn over, no clicking (well maybe 1 soft click), but all the lights and everything work fine. I attempted to install an aftermarket stereo in the car using youtube as a guide.

The first video I saw said nothing about disconnecting the battery so I pulled out the old stereo, disconnected it from the car. I did not mess with any wires because that video said nothing about the wires... I later found another video that said to disconnect the negative from the battery. So I did that and left the positive connected

The only wire I messed with was a black wire. There was already an aftermarket radio in the car, it just didn't work right. It had male and female crimp connectors, I just disconnected it and reconnected it to see how it worked.

It was getting late so I just put the old radio back in and reconnected the negative to the battery.

As soon as I did I noticed the left blinker light was on. I thought maybe I lefr it on by mistake but it was already turned off. The blinker would not stop blinking for a minute or 2 then it stopped by its self and the doors all locked automatically. Every time I opened the door the blinking would start again. I tried to start the car but it would not turn over or even make any clicking sounds.

It is now the next day... I left the battery completely disconnected the whole night and when I tried to connect it I get the same problem... Please help me figure this out

  • Religion & Spirituality - If you saw a giant explosion in the sky... ?

What would be your first thought...

Would you think it was the end of the world?

    War near your home?

What if the explosion was green?

A couple years ago I saw a giant green explosion In the sky... My first (split second) reaction was "end of world", then "bomb!!???"...

When I finally saw news coverage on it (a few days later), they said that it was a meteor that "split" over arizona and was visible from 5 states....it was really bright, turning night into day for a split second...

Anyway, if you witnessed this, what would be (or was) your initial reaction?

  • Why is it that when people say they have experienced God (or some other supernatural event) firsthand...?

they are always unwilling to go into any detail of this "experience(s)" that got them so convinced.

Further, on rare occasions when they are willing to go into detail, it does not sound like anything mysterious or supernatural and can usually be explained easily.

  • When will religions/religious people stop being so confrontational?

    examples

many always get so defensive if you say anything that is not inline with their beliefs

many always try force their beliefs on others.

many make a fierce effort to avoid those who do not share their beliefs,

    ect.

when will religiouns/religious people learn to live happily and peacefully with others (even when they have opposing beliefs)... of course this does not include minor friendly/respectful debates ;-)...

  • why do some christians always say there are no atheists in fox holes?

If you really believe that God is protecting you, why do you need to take cover foxhole?

it seems to me that anyone who takes cover in a foxhole is an atheist (or at least agnostic)even if they say they believe in God. Like it or not, their actions are that of someone who does not believe God will protect them.

I'm just saying, if there was really a God who answered your prayers there would be no need for foxholes in the first place.

  • Why do Christians claim that Western society was built on the biblical 10 Commandments?

Or even that the founding fathers of America were Christian... When in fact, many actually had negative views on religion... But that's another show

Anyway let's take a look at the 10 Commandments

    1. You shall have no other gods before me.

***Last I checked America had freedom of religion

    2. You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

***Don't Christians do this with a make paintings of Christ, or even make the image of Christ's as he is being crucified on the cross as they where this around their neck?

But whether they do or not, doing so is not illegal and will not get you into any legal trouble

    3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

***Again, not something that will get you into any legal trouble.

    4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

***People were on the "Sabbath day" all the time and will not be killed from it as is the recommended punishment for this act. Working on the "Sabbath day" is far from illegal.

    5. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

***Someone who does not "honor" their father or mother will not be stoned to death in modern times, nor will they be looked down upon by society if they have reason.

However, it is worth a mention that Jesus actually says that in order to come to him you must hate your mother and father.

    6. You shall not murder.

***This is an act that is both morally deplorable, and can get you a very long prison sentence prison sentence. So this commandment is valid in modern times and in Western culture with the exception of war (apparently).

However it should be noted that there is an awful lot of murder in the bible, including by moses who killed people for worshipping a golden calf...

    7. You shall not commit adultery.

***This act is morally deplorable and looked down upon socially, however, this only becomes a legal matter in divorce.

    8. You shall not steal.

***This act is both morally deplorable and looked down upon socially. It will also get you a fine or a prison sentence depending on what it was you stole

    9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

***While not a crime in itself, this can get you into trouble if you do it under oath while at court

    10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

***This is basically the basis of consumerism... In Western society it is celebrated not condemned

so depending on how you look at it that is 2-4 out of 10... was western society really based on these "morals"?

and dont even get me started on the rest of the "morals" in the bible
