  • I've upgraded my TV...now need to upgrade the surround sound.?

Just purchased a new 3D HDTV. Now it appears that my 7 year old Home Theater in a Box system (Panasonic SA-HT930) is way to outdated. I've really loved the performance and sound from the system...but with absolutely NO digital inputs...it's gotta go. I've looked at updated versions of the Home Theater in a Box...but all except the +$599 category seem cheap, flimsy and most don't even have a powered sub (just passive).

I really can't go and spend another $1000 on all new Home Theater equipment...so I'm hoping you guys might have some ideas. I'm considering 2 options:

Please let me know if I have missed anything

    Option 1:

Buy new Home Theater in a box. If someone has some good recommendations on a HTIB that performs well and is not very expensive...I would love to hear it. I love the one I've had...so I'm not against them. Must have Blu-Ray/3D capability.

    Option 2:

    Build a new Home Theater.

Fortunately - the 2 front, 2 rear and 1 center channel speaker from my old Panasonic appear to be normal speakers with regular speaker wire connectors. I would need a recommendation on a receiver as well as a sub. Again - must have 3d Pass through capability.

I'm really looking to maximize what I have without having to spend as much on the audio as I did on the TV.

    Thanks
