Why do you think sonnets, such as the one by Petrarch became popular during the Renaissance? Why do you think the sonnet form has continued to interest poets ever since? What does this piece of literature say about the culture of the Renaissance?

A new elementary school and middle school have opened side by side on the Northwest side of town. The schools are located on a very busy 4 lane street. Most of the children who live within walking distance of the school will have to cross the street. The schools will also provide sports fields and playgrounds for the children to use when school is not in session. Some city staffers favor hiring crossing guards and installing a crosswalk with the ability to trigger the traffic light when students are crossing. (walk/don’t walk). Other city staffers want to build an elevated walkway over the street, which will not require crossing guards or stopping traffic. Federal dollars are available to help reduce the cost of the elevated walkway. Over the next ten years, the projected cost of the walkway and the crossing guards/walk lights are virtually the same. Educators at the school are split. Some are concerned that the children will not wait for the lights to change when there are no crossing guards. This would make crossing the street unsafe. Others believe that many younger children will be afraid to use the elevated walkway.

Political socialization is a lifelong process by which individuals learn political attitudes and behaviors. It is part of the broader socialization process whereby an individual becomes a member of a particular society and takes on its values and behaviors.
Write a paper about your own political socialization. This is about how you see other people; how you see yourself; how your values are developing and how you see the culture. Do not use politically defining terms like liberal, conservative, Republican or Democrat. And do not write about political socialization in general. This is about you and your experiences.
Your paper will be two to two and a half pages, double spaced, MLA format. (Information on MLA format is in Module 1.
Here are some influences you might want to consider.
Age
Family
Gender
Events in the world or the country
Race
Religion/Church

n the early 1900s, Eugenics became a popular movement which aimed to improve society. The study of human physical, emotional, and intellectual characteristics resulted in a classification system that advocated the theory that certain “undesirable” characteristics were passed on by heredity. The implications of this theory had widespread influence over US immigration policy as thousands of immigrants from eastern Europe were pouring into the US. In what ways did these ideas influence restrictions on immigration in the 1920s?
