  • Long-term side effects of meningitis?

I had meningitis last year around July. It took me quite some time to start feeling good again after treatment. Lately my sleep has been very off kilter and I have had several other odd things going on regarding my health.

Has anyone else gone through meningitis and suffered side effects? If so, what kinds of things have you/they suffered? Thank you.

  • Do patients in the hospital have the right to look at all medications before they are administered? ?

If a nurse or doctor is about to administer medication into a person's IV does that person have the right to check the medication before it is administered? Like to check that it is the correct medication.

  • When boosting the immune system are we boosting the existing cells or the ones our body will create?

When we consume Vit C or take other immune boosting supplements does our body use those vitamins to boost the current cells in our body or is it used for cells that our body will be creating in our bone marrow? I have proposed this question to several immunologist and one time to a nutritionist. Every time I have received the answer, "I don't know."

I am immuno compromised and on plasma replacement therepy. That is why I ask.

  • How do you make Alexa stop taking when she is incorrectly answering a question?

Often times my Alexa will spout off a random snip from wikipedia in her attempt to answer a question I have asked her. When the information is not what I was wanting to know I can't get the dang cow to shut up. She wont respond to her name and simply babbles on. It is highly annoying and I would love for her to stop telling me useless things.

  • How do you make flavorful dumplings?

I love chicken and dumplings and have attempted to make several of the recipes found online. Unfortunately all the dumping recipes turn out to be rather tasteless and disappointing. I want a dumping that compliments the stew rather than simply tasting of cooked flower. Anyone know what else to add other than chicken stock, butter, salt, buttermilk, ect? Something that will actually make the dumplings tasty? I'm not looking for a quick version such as Pillsbury biscuits. I'm in need of a good from scratch recipe. Thank you.

  • Can my auto insurer increase my premium if...?

My son s insurance is attached to my account since we live in the same house. He pays for his own insurance on his car. If he were to get in an accident or get a ticket, while driving his vehicle, can my premium be increased too?

  • Should I remind my son of his trauma?

When my son was around 6-years-old he was molested by an older child in a private home bathroom. I was made aware of the issue when he had urination issues following the incident and after a clean UI was performed at our doctors. I got him into counseling right away and things got back on track quickly. My son is now almost 18. He suffers from social anxiety and has seen several therapists that have helped him greatly. However, he has suffered from a shy bladder for the past several years. It has made things hard for him as he can't use public restrooms. I do not wish to cause my son more trauma by bringing the issue up as he may have no memory of it occurring and I have no wish to make things worse for him by not giving him all the facts about what might be causing his issue. Should I tell him in hopes that it might be the root of his bathroom issues or could I be doing more harm than good?

  • What rights do my friends have?

My friends are trying to sell their home and had put an offer on another home. Their realtor put an offer on the home they wish to buy & in the offer it stated that my friends current house would be placed on the market by a specific date. However, that day came and went as their realtor refused to put their home up for sale until they had photos for the online listing. They were able to get photos done three days later but the sellers of the other home had already refused the offer; due to the fact that the house was not on the market like it said it would be.They are planning on making an offer that is more than the original offer but they were already going to be house poor from the first offer. Now their realtor is going to be making more money off the 2nd offer. Do they have any rights to get money back from the Realtors commission or can they report the realtor for refusing to follow the agreement in the offer?

  • Do I need to add my teenage son to my auto insurance even if he doesn't ever drive my car?

We live in Oregon. My insurance company is being persistent about me coming in to discuss adding my licenced 17 year old son to my policy. We are on a fixed income as I am disabled. Also, my son doesn't drive my car. Ever. I am requiring him to get a job first so that he can afford insurance before he is allowed to drive my car. Is my insurance just being pushy and trying to get more money from me or am I required to put him on my policy regardless?

  • 25+ years of not wearing earrings and the holes never healed. How?

At around my 12 birthday I got my ears pierced. The metal caused a nearly instant infection; as I was unknowingly allergic to the nickle in the hypoallergenic earrings used during piercing. I was unable to continue wearing the earrings and had to take them out well before the time needed fot healing would normally have taken. Here it is now 25 years later and the holes have never closed up or healed. It is like having a constant semi open wound. Today I felt an itch on my ear lobe, scratched it and a small amount of fresh (not old, stinky or hard) puss came out. How is it possible that these openings have never healed after all these years?

  • Family tells me I emotionally abuse my son. They tell me that I am unstable. Therapists have said otherwise?

How do I stop abusing my son? My family is convinced that the few times every 4 or so months that I stick to my guns on an issue is abusive. My son and I have been to counseling and I have never been told that I am crazy or abusive. But clearly I am since those who love me most, including my son, are telling me otherwise. How do I stop this behavior? My son and I rarely aregue so it is difficult to learn to hold me temper when I am so very rarely angry. What can I do to stop this maddnese I am creating?

  • Why has no company invented a tablet that works also as a cell phone?

This seems like a fairly straight forward and do-able idea yet no one is jumping at the chance to be the first to combine the two technologies.

  • New to me '09 Camry I want it to stop honking so loud when I lock/unlock it.?

It honks letting my entire apartment complex know that I am leaving my house, just got home or have forgot a million things in my car and have to keep going back in and out of it to get stuff. Its really annoying and it a loud sound that tells everyone in the area HEY LOOK this apartment is now empty and you will hear when she gets home. It honks when I lock it regardless of using the key, lock button on the key or if you press the button inside the vehicle. Same for when its locked. Oh and it also honks when you have to press the button a 2nd time to unlock the whole car. How do I get this to stop or to at least make it not so loud?

How do I get this hot key to stop what its is doing and let me use it for what it was actually meant to be used for..deleting text?

  • Is there any place in Oregon that offers classes for 15 year olds to aid in studying and passing the written drivers permit test?

My son is going to b 15 next month. He would like to take the learners permit test and pass it. Yet the requirement for all drivers training courses is to ALREADY have the permit. How can you get a permit if you haven t been educated on how to get a permit? Are there any places that offer class room education on the driver s manual or are all the kids just supposed to figure it out on their own?

  • How do I deal with a family members OCD when encroaches on my personal space?

My step father doesn't live with me. I am a grown woman w/a family of my own. However, he is really close w/my 14-year-old son. He has pretty much been a substitute father figure for my kid. I really appreciate him for that. However, he can't seem 2 not encroach on my life w/his obsessive compulsive behaviors. My son is not big on talking on the phone. So if my step dad calls him 2 make plans, my kid doesn't answer or respond, then my step dad calls me. If I answer the phone even once then he will continually call me multiple times a day for the next several weeks. It gets to be overwhelming and he wants to talk about stuff that, to me, is irrelevant. However, if I do not answer the phone when he calls me too, then he comes over to my house. He has taken to knocking and if we do not answer then he just opens the door and walks in. The other day he must have come into my house while I was in the bath! I didn't notice right away but he apparently used some of my note paper to write two notes, left one on my coffee table & one on my son's desk in his room. My own mother doesn't even come to my home unannounced & she doesn't enter my home unless someone knows. My step dad also suffers from un-diagnosed narcissism & that makes it impossible 2 get him to follow basic guidelines & boundaries. It took me over a year to finally get him 2 stop calling me before 6 am, multiple times a day, only after I finally got MAD. Also because of he narcissism he has never been treated for his OCD.
