  • How can I get a good looking girl?

Ok first of all its a little shallow, but unfortunately that is the way I am wired, and I want an attractive girlfriend.

Some background: I am 42 years old. In my early twenties I dated and had a lot of girlfriends. Then I entered the workforce with a geeky major (math) that is male dominated and didn't get to go out much (most of my pals that I would have gone out with married young). Since then I've entered a death spiral of not dating and not being happy. When I do see a girl I like at work its usually 1 out of 500 and she's already got a boyfriend.

So there is a girl I really like at work. But she talks to all the other guys PLUS has a boyfriend outside of work. So essentially its hopeless. And I'm not getting any younger. I'd like to stay positive but my self-esteem is at an all time low and no one even bothers to wish me happy birthday anymore.

I don't know what to do? I've tried to say hi to her and talk to her, but against such odds I know its going to fail. I used to be so happy with myself that I never regretted the past or was bitter but today its a different story. I don't feel like theres anything unique about me, I'm a dime a dozen tech worker who is past his prime physically, mentally and spiritually. I've been miserable about this for decades.

  • Girl I like defriended me? Why?

I like this girl but I never met her in person. I was going thru profiles on this russian social site, and I found hers. I added her and she added me. Then I went to facebook and added her there and she accepted.

All I did was say she was pretty a couple times and that she should visit the USA... And then she defriended me? What did I do? I really liked her but I don't think I was being too pushy. She never answered my letters either? So why did she add me in the first place?

  • I-87 New York to Albany? Steep or Flat?

I-87 from Albany to New York is going to be part of my longer route from Milwaukee to NYC. I am just wondering how steep this road is as I will be driving a U-Haul with a 330 BMW hitched behind.

  • I-90 through New York State? Steep or Flat?

I am thinking about taking I-90 en route to NYC from Michigan. I took I-80 the last time and hated it, so steep and hilly.

  • Detroit to New York City? Least Steep Route?

I am going to be hauling a one-bedroom U-Haul truck as well as a hitch with a 2004 BMW 330 CI behind it. I have traveled I-80 before and not only is it monotonous, but tiring because it is up and down steep hills for a good chunk of the way, and frankly towing a large load I do not feel safe on it. Can anyone please recommend a less-steep route? I do not mind an extra few hours in exchange for flatter terrain. I am even considering going the Canada-Buffalo-Albany-NYC route if it does not have the steep grades of I-80.

  • Is java getting outdated?

I am in mid-career and trying to add more programming skills to my resume. I am considering the Java route due to its popularity over recent years and its longevity. But I don't want to pursue this route only to find out that C# or something else is taking over. What programming skills are going to give me the most bang for the buck these days? Is becoming a Java Architect worth it?

  • Best place to live in/near Schaumburg, IL?

I may be relocating soon to the Schaumburg, IL area. I know very little about the Schaumburg area but I am looking for a new construction apartment or loft style rental in the area with hardwood floor, new appliances, etc. I have tried the usual sites like rent.com and realtor.com but most of the places there look older and/or ugly.

  • Classic Yahoo home page vs. New Yahoo home page? How can I get classic back?

Can anyone please tell me how to have the classic yahoo start page instead of the new one? I have looked all over but the option that used to be there to switch back and forth now seems to be gone. And I really do not like the new homepage.

  • Hired with Misdemeanor?

have 3 misdemeanors, one for assault in 2002, one for resisting arrest in 2002 and one for driving on suspended license in 2005.

Is this going to make it impossible to get hired? I successfully completed probation and was going through a very bad time in my life at the time of the incidents.

I have heard conflicting things, only felonies are important, only the last 5,7,10 years are important, even a misdemeanor can disqualify you.

I served no jail time and succesfully completed all probation, classes and fines

  • What age to become an officer in the Army?

I think it used to be late 20's for OCS. But the Army has pushed back the max age to 42 for recruitment, I couldn't find the max age for officers anywhere though.

  • Doesn't this sound pretty extreme over a snack cake?

I have been hungry before but isn't this taking things a bit too far over a snack cake:

  • Mideast Peace Solution? Israel vs. Arab States?

I have drafted a peace solution for the mideast problem. They have been fighting since I was an infant and I am now almost 36 years old so I figured it would be the least I could do.

Here is my idea: Give both sides a huge arsenal of nuclear weapons. Then tell both sides that an official religious edict in the name of Buddah, Vishnu, Shiva, Brahma, or Mammon or whoever they are burning incense and drinking blood for on that particular day has decided that there must be a final war for the holy lands using any available means.

Then step back and allow both sides to utterly murder, I mean completely annihilate each other in one huge pseudo-religious f*ckfest, one big goddamn mushroom cloud of every devout nitwit that thinks the world gives two cents about their daily prayer cleansing rituals. Then we will NEVER have to hear about it again and half of the journalists in our country will be out of a job because that is all they have to write about.

  • Effects of marijuana use?

Suppose a person smokes a lot of marijuana over a period of years... For example this person is almost a daily smoker for 3-4 years. Then after the 4 years this person stops all smoking and quits for good. Ten years later will they have any side effects or are there any issues they would still have from smoking so much.

  • IQ test results from a long time ago?

I believe that my parents had me IQ tested when I was very young. This would mean over 20 or so plus years ago. My parents have both passed away but part of me is curious to the results as they never told me. Is there some place that administers these tests that I could go to for my results? Sort of like the college board for SAT scores?

  • Month-to-Month Lease question?

I am currently renting a 1BR apt month to month. I have paid in full for December, and January rent is due January 1st. However I have found another place I would like to rent and would like to move out before Jan 1st and not have to pay January rent.

Because my lease is month to month am I allowed to do this? Or do I have to give 30 days notice? Is there a usual protocol for month to month leases in this sort of situation.

  • Parole Absconder in Michigan?

My friend was arrested for his second felony, possession of a small amount of heroin. He has had a drug problem for many years. He did a year of prison time for it and was released on parole. He screwed up his parole by testing dirty, and missing meetings, and he was sent to a low-risk jail trusty camp for 120 days.

About a week out of the trusty camp we found out he was back to smoking crack and doing heroin, and a week after that we found out he was absconding from his parole.. What happens to him now if the police catch him?

  • How much for closing costs with no mortgage or loan?

I am planning to purchase a 200,000-250,000 home in the state of Michigan, outright with no mortgage or any loan.

Hypothetically, if I purchase a home for 200,000 what will be my total outlay of cash before the home is actually mine? Assuming I am not taking out any loan to finance this home.
