  • Question about Hardy-Weinburg equation/random mating?

Okay, I understand the Hardy Weinburg equation as far as derivation goes, and I understand how to perform the Chi squared test.

For some reason I am having some type of mental gap as to why random mating *must* be occuring for the equation to stand true. Or why you have to assume random mating. It's not making any sense to me and whether or not you just know some details, or you know a lot, please share what you know. I feel like I just need to hear people explain this in normal words. I tried looking it up but all these websites talk about it scientifically.

    Thanks a LOT in advance!

  • Is a nucleotide a dNTP...or monophosphate?

Okay, I'm confused with this bit: nucleotides are named "deoxyadenosine 5'-monophosphate" which makes sense to me... but then how do you get the dNTPs which are triphosphates instead of monophosphate?

I know when you do PCR you use the dNTPs in the recipe... but why don't you use the monophosphate? Where is the difference coming into play?

  • Should I get an iPod Touch or Nano?

I already know that I'm getting one of the two but I'm having a hard time deciding which one.

Either way, I'm getting the 8GB.

The iPod Nano (8GB) is $149.00

The iPod Touch (8GB) is $229.00

I can't decide which one to get, though. You can watch video on both, although the screen on the iTouch is bigger. One of the nicest advantages the iTouch has it that it's touchscreen.

... but is that enough to qualify a larger purchase? :/

Has anyone used both, and can give me specific details about which one you think is better?

  • How does English actually sound to you?

I know that when ever I think of French I have a certain mindset of how the words sound, even if I'm not saying the correct words. The same goes for Spanish and German. But I was wondering, how do you, if English is not your first language, sound to you? What rhythm does it have - what is distinctive about it?

  • If English is not your first language - ...?

When did you learn English, and how? How well do you think you speak it?

Also, do you think English is an easy or difficult language to learn, and why?

  • If God is so great...?

By the way, I DO believe in God, but there is one place where I believe differently than the majority.

If God is so great, then how can a human (Jesus, Peace be upon Him) be compared to God? I don't understand why it can't be accepted that God is God - the most high, and no human can be compared to him, and the fact that Jesus was SENT BY GOD, but not God. Being sent by God, Jesus was still a prophet, and as great as those who make him sound.

  • My thoughts on homosexuality and what religion says vs. what we think?

Let me just get a few points here before I ask my question/express my thoughts.

    -I am not a homosexual,

-and my religion does condemn it.

Now, I ask those who believe homosexuality is wrong, sinful, shouldn't even exist ETC. Let's say you think it's wrong, your religion does, and so on. My question is, even if YOU think it's wrong, YOU don't support it, why stop others from being it? My question is why people don't take care of themselves. People being homosexual does not effect you. If they get married and you see them holding hands, so what? Are your eyes going to be burned by God? No, and you'll be fine too. What you should care about is your stance on life, how you are religious, etc. Why does someone else being gay/lesbian hurt you?

Let me get this straight...I don't think homosexuality is right OR wrong, because I don't feel we have received enough scientific evidence to prove one cannot help from being a homosexual.

Please let me know what you think about this.

  • What is the last religion/belief you would submit to?

If you were forced to convert to a religion other than yours - what is the last one you would conver to - and WHY? Also, is this based off what you have actually researched OR what you have seen on the media?

  • I forgot the name..PLEASE help!?

There was a game I use to play on my Windows computer around 5-6 years ago. I think it was around the time I was using "Greetings workshop" although I don't know if that's relevent or not.

All I remember was in the beginning..I'm pretty sure you enter your name and a squirrel of some sort runs away and you begin... you could choose between math or reading activities. Some of the activities in the game included a clock and math, and being in a dark ditch/hole in the ground and having things thrown at you..

You could also print certificates if you did well.

I know this is VERY general but I'm hoping there is SOMEONE who can help!!

  • What do you think about people trying to change left handed people to become right handed?

Some cultures look down upon those who are left handed and try to switch those to become right handed when they are young. Do you think this is cruel - or do you think it is out of love, so that the child does not suffer later?
