  • Got drunk for the first time, and worried about alcoholism?

So I'm a 24-year-old male (5'11, 210 lbs.), and I had never been drunk before last Friday because I've always been very straight-edge and I don't like parties. My girlfriend and I bought some Tequila and brought it back to her place to drink by ourselves. Since it was my first time drinking hard liquor, it was probably stupid that I drank 5 shots in about 5 minutes followed by chugging a glass of wine 10 minutes later. It worked out, though; I got to my desired level of drunkenness. Anyways, I found out that I'm a very happy drunk. I was laughing at anything and everything (even the end of Marley and Me), and we were having what seemed like the funniest conversations ever. It was the most fun I've had in a long, long time, and it made me feel extremely close to her. So we did it again the next night with the same results.

Now it's Monday, and I'm already eagerly awaiting drinking with her again. I think it's only natural to look forward to something you anticipate will be fun, but then again, I don't really know the line between recreational drinking and alcoholism, and both my brother and dad have had problems with alcoholism. Should I be worried?

  • Why do movies/TV shows usually use CGI for monitor displays?

When a character in a movie or TV show uses a computer, what is displayed on the monitor is usually CGI instead of an actual operating system. Why do production companies do this? Is it because it's cheaper to hire a CGI artist than it is to hire a programmer to make a mock program? Or maybe because they'd have to buy rights to use a certain operation system?

  • Why does my cat ALWAYS wait until I start eating to poop?

I'm not kidding at all. It's gotten to the point that I have to run to his litter box and use the pooper scooper to bury his poop before the smell spreads throughout the entire room. Does the smell of food remind him that he has to poop, or what?

  • Valentine's gift for girl you just started dating?

I've been dating this girl a little less than a month, and we've been on 5 dates. Well, unfortunately we can't really have a proper date today because I go to college all day on Tuesdays and she goes to work all night. I'm going to visit her at work and bring her a gift. I figure it should be something casual since we aren't really serious yet, like a single rose and a box of chocolate (as I already know she loves dark chocolate). How does that sound?

  • Can you stand people who eat with their mouth open?

Sometimes I feel like I'm going to snap and go into a psychotic rage when I hear people sloshing food around in their mouth with no regard for others.

  • Is your FAFSA award based on cost of tuition?

I'm in community college right now and FAFSA covers my complete tuition including books. I plan on transferring to a university next Fall, which will obviously cost significantly more. Can I expect my FAFSA award to increase at all, or is the amount fixed regardless of the cost of tuition of the school you're attending?

  • Do you ever remember a dream throughout the day that you didn't remember when you woke up?

Sometimes I'll think of a dream I had the previous night and realize I never thought about after waking up. Weird.

  • Do pranks count as intentional infliction of emotional distress?

I'm a little confused by the following question:

Adam decided to play a practical joke on Linda, a co-worker. As Linda was leaving the office one night, Adam, wearing a mask, stepped out from behind some bushes. He pointed a handgun made out of licorice at her and demanded her purse. He then pushed the candy gun to her head and told her if she told anybody he'd kill her. Linda was very scared during the whole incident. She did not think it was funny when Adam pulled the mask off and took a bite out of the gun as he gave her the purse back. Did Adam commit the tort of intentional infliction of emotional distress?

    A) Yes, as his conduct was intentional.

    B) Yes, but only if Adam intended to cause Linda serious emotional distress.

    C) No, since he was only playing a practical joke.

    D) No, since Linda was not physically hurt by Adam.

It's obviously A or B, but I don't know which as they seem like basically the same answer.

  • Proper foot stance when boxing?

I just started using a punching bag because I thought it would be good for both aerobic exercise and strength training in order to lose weight (~67 lbs overweight), and I figured I would learn some proper boxing techniques in the process. My question is simple: for leg stance, do you want your furthest out foot to be the same side as your dominate arm?

  • How do you make non-soggy buttered toast?

I make buttered toast by just toasting bread and spreading some butter on; however, disgustingly, it gets soggy within a matter of minutes. When I go to restaurants, I notice that their toast always has a ton of butter, yet the bread remains crisp. I tried searching for an answer, but I was only able to find references to FRENCH toast.

  • What's the deal with this employer?

I had an interview at Walmart 1.5 weeks ago, and it seemed to go really good. At the end of the interview, the interviewer asked me specifically to call her on Wed/Thursday of the following week if she didn't hear back from me, which I thought was good news because if you didn't get the job, employers usually just say that they'll "be in touch" or whatever.

I called her on the designated Wednesday, and the conversation was about ten seconds:

"Hi, ***. It's *** calling to follow up on our interview Tuesday of last week."

"OK. We haven't made a decision yet. I'll call you when I find out this afternoon."

    "OK, thanks."

    "Bye."

    "Bye."

She sounded somewhat irritated like she wanted to get off the phone, which was surprising because she was so nice at the interview. Anyways, I waited all day, but she didn't call back with a decision, and it's been two days since, and still no call. I plan on calling back today, but I'm mostly just wondering if she's blowing me off because she doesn't want to tell me I didn't get the job?

  • Was contacted for interview with Walmart, but expressed interest in wrong position...?

I was just contacted to schedule an interview with Walmart. They told me they had three positions that are hiring: cashier, electronics dep, and houseware (lol). She then asked me which position I would like to schedule an interview for, and since I'm primary taking this job to build a resume, I thought cashiering might be the best experience, so I scheduled an interview for that position. However, upon taking the time to think about it, I would MUCH rather work in the electronics department because electronics are my life.

So my question is, since I've already scheduled an interview for the cashier position (tomorrow morning), how can I bring it up that I'd rather have the electronics position? Should I call the number I was contacted from and ask for the same person, and tell her, "After giving it some thought, etc."? Or should I wait until my interview tomorrow morning and ask the interviewer if I can schedule an interview (or just tell them I am interesting in the electronics job as well) for the electronics dep?

  • How to tell employer I want to be full-time during summer, part-time when school starts?

Basically, I'm a college student on a job hunt right now. On the applications I've filled out so far, I put that I'm available 24-hours a day, as it is summer and I decided to take no courses, and that I would like to work full-time. However, my availability will obviously change when the fall semester begins in about 3 months and I take on a full-time course load. If I like the job enough, I might be willing to remain full-time both in work and school.

Let's say I get ask to come in for an interview with Walmart. Should I be upfront about this and mention it during the initial interview? If so, at what point during the interview? If they know that I'll only be able to work full-time for 3 months, would this greatly reduce my chance of getting the job? Or, on the other hand, should I leave that out and wait till the fall semester approaches, and then ask for a schedule change? I've never had a job before, so I don't know how flexible or inflexible most employers are. In that case, if they're unwilling to move me around, then I'd most likely have to quit the job if it conflicted with school.
