  • Tenderness in the kidney area?

I went to the ER last week because I had an extreme amount of pain on my right side just under my rib cage. It was in the front and and wrapped around to the back. They tested for a UTI, gall stones, and a gall bladder infection: all negative. They gave me 2 Norco for the pain and sent me home. Didn't have any more pain. The last 2 days though I've been having a dull, annoying, achy pain in my right side, just under the ribs on my back that will mostly go away with ibuprofen. Today, it feels more tender to push on it to massage it. I'm not having any urination issues at all, no fever, no loss of appetite, a little fatigue (but I'm always tired since I'm not on any sort of sleep schedule at all), or any other symptoms. Ideas?

  • Why does the light bulb flicker but not turn on?

My ceiling fan has 1 incandescent light bulb. The other day, we tried to turn it on, but the light bulb just flashed and then didn't turn on. I tried to replace it with a CFL, but that didn't work either. I also tried to turn the fan on, but that doesn't work either. So now my light AND fan doesn't work, the light bulb just flashes for a quick second and then stays dark. What's the problem?

  • HP deskjet 5650 makes me restart computer to print?

My boss has installed and re-installed the printer, but it seems every other time we print, it will start to print and then stop. Restarting the computer allows it to finish, and then sometimes it will print another page after that. Otherwise, no problems from it. Any ideas on how to fix it? It's not a huge deal to turn the computer on and off, but it really gets annoying when we're busy and don't have time to wait for our WIN XP to load :-/

  • Searching for Nicholson/Cook/McKee Family?

My dad was the oldest and came from a big family. I've used search engines and the like, but I'm just wondering if anyone out there that reads this is actually related to me.

my grandmother's name was Vivian. she raised her 10 children in Indiana. she was married 3 times and passed away in the mid 90's. I've found 2 aunts, my step-grandfather, and 2 uncles. but that still leaves 6 other aunts and uncles and all of their kids! My father's name was Samuel.

  • Changing diabetic dog's diet?

I found out 2 months ago that my dog is diabetic. we've had her 5 years, but we're not sure how old she really is. she's still really energetic, so we're assuming 6-8?

anyway, we've been feeding her Purina DCO since she was diagnosed. however, it's EXPENSIVE and money is getting tight for us. in order to keep her healthy, what other foods are available for less money? I've read about raw diets, but that seems like it would be pricey to me (not to mention disgusting and gross). I've also read that corn shouldn't be an ingredient? we've asked our vet what else we can feed her, but she said that she needed to speak to her nutritionist about it, and she would get back to us. that was a week ago, and I'm tired of waiting. I don't think I'll ever get an answer from the woman that wants me to buy the $60 bag of dog food from her business. (do I sound bitter? I don't mean to. it just felt like she didn't want to help us out!)

any help at all would be great. if you have a link to a reputable site, that would be amazing as well!

  • for those who have been pregnant, could you help me out?

I'm almost 2 weeks late, but I've been under a crazy amount of stress the last few months! I took 2 at home tests, both first thing in the morning, and both said negative. now, I know that false negatives occur, but I want to not think about that right now :) my lower back hurts a few days a week, but I've also had lower back pain for about 3 years now (I twisted my hip and have degenerative disks). I have slight cramping, and I think that maybe it's going to start, and then it goes away. I spotted for about 2 hours the day I was due to start, and that was it. nothing since. so what I'm wondering is: would you wait to see if you get your next period? or would you just go to the doctor to get a blood test?

I haven't changed my diet or begun a new exercise routine. I've taken birth control for 4 years now, and haven't missed a period in 10 years. at the most, I've only been 2 days late since then.

I'm really thinking I should just have a blood test done. thoughts please?

  • I need help with an OLD penny?

we found a penny that looks like it's dated either 1883, 1853, or 1863. it has an indian on the front, but it doesn't say united states of america on it, just has a bunch of stars on the front. on the back it's worn, but we can read con & brush streets detroit. what year is this penny? how much is it worth? and what does it say on the back?

  • how did you cut back after a job loss?

my boyfriend was recently told his store was closing at the end of the month. he's looking for work, and we have some money saved up, so we'll be alright for a couple months. but I was wondering what to do to help scale back on our bills?

we're on the budget plan for our heat bill, so it's substantially lower now (not to mention turning down the thermostat to 62 and the water heater down to 110). we're going to put plastic on the really leaky windows, and we've put up thick curtains and towels around the ones with the air conditioners (not to mention the AC covers and insulation around it!).

if it comes to it, we're willing to cancel cable but not internet, so we need to find cheap internet. and we've canceled our land line because we both have cell phones.

we have no children, and one dog. and we're willing to eat ramen noodles for a few months (or at least, go to the in-laws to eat dinner!).

    any other ideas?

  • do you own a food saver?

my mom bought a food saver today at a yard sale. it's a mini food saver, I think the model number is 0434A017671. however, the man selling it had no idea where the directions were. so, if anyone out there knows how to use a food saver or has a site with easy step by step directions, I'd appreciate it!!

  • air bubble in rearview mirror?

I drive a 2000 chevy impala ls, and a week ago, an air bubble appeared in my mirror. it moves (kind of like a lava lamp does) when I tilt the mirror in various positions, but it doesn't escape. it doesn't get bigger. it doesn't get smaller. but it does kind of give me double vision when I look in it. any ideas on how to fix it or get rid of it without replacing it?
