1 AnswerBiology9 years agoThe effect of temperature on the Catalase enzyme?
For my Biology practice, I investigated the effect of temperature on Catalase enzymes from green capsicum. My hypothesis was that the rate of reaction would increase as temperature increased, until 60 degrees where it would become denatured.
I cooled the reactants (green capsicum extract and hydrogen peroxide) in ice, and heated them in a water bath.
However, between 0 to 40 degrees after 30 seconds the resulting mL of froth produced when hydrogen peroxide was added was almost equal for all of the temperatures...
Catalase was denatured at 50 degrees, but it seemed to not be effected by the cold... which I don't understand. Between 0 to 40 degrees catalase worked consistently as effectively. Can somebody explain this to me? Have I made an error in my practical...? What am I supposed to conclude in my discussion?

Moses, from whose loins I sprung,
Lit by a lamp in his blood
Ten immutable rules, a moon
For mutable lampless men.
The blonde, the bronze, the ruddy,
With the same heaving blood,
Keep tide to the moon of Moses.
Then why do they sneer at me?
What does this mean?
3 AnswersPoetry1 decade agoHow does a seat belt reduce acceleration?
Newton’s second law states that force is equal to mass multiplied by acceleration. In a collision scenario, we want to reduce the force experienced by the driver as much as possible. Working on the basis of Newton’s 2nd law (F = ma) in order to reduce the amount of force, we need to reduce acceleration.
How does wearing a seat belt reduce this acceleration?
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoNewton's three laws and their relation to car safety?
In terms of Newton's three laws of motion, how do the following safety features work?
- Cruise control
- Pre-crash systems using radar and laser sensors
They warn the driver, precharge the brakes, inflate seats for extra support, move the passenger seat, position head rests to avoid whip lash, tension seat belts and automatically apply partial or full braking to minimize impact.
- Lane-depature warning and blind-spot warning
