  • Should I get a Galaxy Tab S or Nexus 9?

I'm kinda torn on which tablet to get. I plan to use it mostly for comics/manga, ebooks, and web browsing, and only occasionally playing some games or watching movies. Anyone have any strong opinions on which of these two (and ONLY these two, no comments telling me to get an iPad please) is better for that kind of stuff?

Also, any opinions on 4:3 vs. 16:9? Is 16:9 only superior for watching movies? Which ratio would be better for viewing comic books and manga?

  • Anyone have any recommendation of good trans-themed documentaries?

Can be movies, TV shows, miniseries, etc. I just finished Transgeneration and would love to find something along those same lines.

  • Why do some people find the idea of being transgender so hard to accept?

I...I just don't get it. Why are some people so concern with how others want to identify or live their lives? Why are they so insistent on using certain biological markers (chromosomes, genitals) as some absolute determination of gender, even in the face of psychological and neurological evidence that suggests otherwise? One thing that really bugs me is when someone says something to the effect of "you will always be a man/woman, no matter what you do to your body". How so? How are they defining "man" or "woman" in this case? Genitals? Well, those can be altered surgically. Chromosomes? They aren't as important to sexually development as most people think, and there are many chromosomal combinations beyond XX and XY. If someone identifies and want to be treated as a certain gender and wants their body to match, who are you to deny them that? What do you gain out of it?

I just want to get some opinions on what drives this sort of thinking. I know I really shouldn't let it get to me, but....I don't know, dealing with people like this is becoming very frustrating.

  • Looking for some melodeath bands similar to early In Flames?

Particularly the albums Subterranean and The Jester Race. Thanks!

  • Why do people like Nickelback?

I've seen enough "why do people hate Nickelback?" questions, so I thought I'd change it up and ask why people actually like them.

  • Do you remember chalk hearts melting on a playground wall?

Do you remember dawn escapes from moon washed college halls?

Do you remember that cherry blossom in the market square?

Do you remember, I thought it was confetti in our hair?

By the way, didn't I break your heart?

Please excuse me, I never meant to break your heart

So sorry, I never meant to break your heart

    But you broke mine

  • A question for Christians about prayer?

This is a question for Christians who believe in the power of prayer. The standard Christian doctrine is that god is omniscient, correct? This means that he knows everything, including a person's thoughts and feelings. What I don't get is why prayer is even necessary if god already knows what you want. It can't be to determine how dedicated you are to him either, as he should be well aware of that too. There is also the fact that if he is omniscient, he already knows if he is going to intervene in a situation or not, so I don't see how praying could possibly influence him to do act in a different way. Am I mistaken about any of this? From a Christian perspective, is there any logical reason to pray to god?

  • Is anyone here familiar with the band Camel?

Any Camel fans here? They are really underrated in my opinion. Their earlier stuff (from the 70s) is especially good. What is your favorite album and song by them? For album, mine is a tie between Mirage and Moonmadness. For song, my favorite is Lady Fantasy, with Another Night coming in at a close second.

  • Any Kansas fans here?

I consider Kansas one of the essential prog rock groups of the 70s and yet they always seem to get overlooked in favor of bands like Yes, Genesis, and King Crimson. Don't get me wrong, I love those bands too, but I think Kansas a lot more deserves more credit than they get. Songs like The Pinnacle, Song for America, Incomudro, and Magnum Opus are just amazing! Not to mention the very good but overplayed Carry On Wayward Son and Dust in the Wind. So any Kansas fans here care to explain why you think they don't get enough credit as a prog band?

  • Fellow atheists, don't you think the insults are a little much?

This is partly a response to some of the answers to this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AucrN...

There were some answers pretty much saying that atheists are by default smarter than Christians. This kind of thing seems to happen a lot on this site. Do we really need to be saying stuff like that? There are really intelligent Christians and there are dumb a** atheists. Going around proclaiming that we're aromatically better than them just because of a lack of belief isn't the way to go about this. We can argue our position and still be civil right? Blatant ad hominem attacks are just....weak. It just makes the rest of us look like a bunch of douchebags, and I think it makes theists less likely to listen the to arguments that we have. It's just a thought, but I hope some of you agree with me. *prepares for a bunch of insults*

  • If you were to give out awards like the Grammys....?

What awards would you give out and who would you award them to? Yes, I know the Grammys are pretty meaningless these days. This question is just for fun.
