Need help with finance homework!?
I have spent far too long staring at this question, I'm really just not sure what to do.
Consider a pension plan that will pay $10,000 once a year for a 5-year period (5 annual payments). The first payment will come in exactly 5 years (at the end of year 5) and the last payment in 9 years (at the end of year 9).
a) What is the duration of the pension obligation? The current interest rate is 10% per year for all maturities.
b) To generate the scheduled pension payments, the pension fund wants to invest the present value of the future payouts in bonds and match the duration of its obligation in part a). If the fund uses 5-year and 10-year zero-coupon bonds to construct its investment position, how much money (dollar amount) ought to be placed in each bond now? What should be the total face value (not current market value) of each zero-coupon bond held?
2 AnswersHomework Help7 years agoSimple differential equation problem I am having trouble with?
Solve the separable linear first order DE: dy/dx -4xy =0
using both the method of separation of variables and using an integrating factor.
I can solve it using the separation of variables technique, I'm just having trouble with the integration factor method.

I have a question that I could do with some help with:
Doctors are studying the spread of measles. Using the variable y to represent the proportion
of a population affected by measles, and using t to represent time (days) they find the rate
of spread of measles through a city can be modeled by the differential equation dy/dt = 0.2(0.6-y)
Suppose initially ten percent of a cities population has measles.
i) Solve initial value problem.?
ii) How long will it take before half the population are affected by measles?
iii) What is the long term proportion that will be affected by measles?
1 AnswerMathematics8 years agoHelp with basic differential equations?
I have a few problems that I'm really not sure how to solve, any help would be appreciated.
1: State the order of the following DE, and conrm that the functions in the given family
are solutions:
2dy/dx + y = x -1; y = ce^(-x/2)+x-3 (where c is a constant)
2: Use implicit differentiation to confirm that the equation x^2+xy^22 = C defines an implicit
solution of the differential equation 2x +y^2 +2xy dy/dx = 0
3:use the integrating factor to solve: (x^2+1)dy/dx +xy = 0
2 AnswersMathematics8 years agoWhich tissues will contribute to the chorion?
I have an exercise asking me to choose two letters (from this diagram: http://bayimg.com/iAlPHAAeL) that indicate the layers that will contribute to the chorion.
As far as I understand, the chorion consists of the extraembryonic mesoderm and the trophoblast.
My issue is I can't see any extraembryonic mesoderm on this diagram...?
Any help would be great!
Thanks in advance.

4 AnswersMathematics8 years agoMatrix Inversion question?
Ok, I need some help with a question:
Find all invertible matrices A of the form
A= a b
c d (square matrix)
and satisfying A = A^-1 and A^T = A^-1.
They also provide a hint: the identity cos^2(t) + sin^2(t) = 1may be useful.
I had a go at it but didn't get a particularly useful answer.
1 AnswerMathematics8 years agoHelp with piecewise functions?
Here is the problem I am having difficulty with:
s(x) = { k^2 + x if x=<(equal or less than) k, x^2 + k if x > k
Show that s(x) is a continuous function for every value of k E R (K is and element of the real numbers)
Thanks in advance!
1 AnswerMathematics8 years agoHelp with closed intervals?
I need some help with a math problem:
Suppose A=[a1, a2] and B=[b1,b2] are two closed intervals of R (real numbers).
Under what conditions is A U B (A union B) a closed interval?
This seems like an extremely simple problem, but i'm not entirely sure how to answer it.
Thanks in advance!

I am not sure how to prove this, any help would be great!
Here's the problem:
Suppose A, B and C are three points forming a triangle.
If M is the midpoint of AB, and N is the midpoint of AC, show that MN is parallel to BC.
1 AnswerMathematics8 years agoResidual analysis help!?
The Lake theatre is a movie theatre that has just recently opened.
They have contracted with R. Wynns Company to opperate the concession stand at the cinema. Wynns is to pay 17% of gross concession receipts (payable monthly) for the right to operate the concession stand.
How do I use a residual analysis and the definition of financial statements to determine how this entry is recorded?

1 AnswerMathematics9 years agoUpgrading Motherboard and CPU?
Ok this is a re-post of a question earlier but this time I'll include a little more info.
My current setup is:
Motherboard: ASUS M2N-SliDelux
CPU: AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+
RAM: 2x 1GB kingston Hyper DDR2
GFX: GeForce 8800 GTS 640Mb
and my current PSU is 500w.
So.... I'm thinking of upgrading this and I would like to get a quad core cpu.
But at the moment my motherboard only supports dual so..... can anyone recommend a quad core CPU and supporting motherboard.
My budget for the Motherboard+CPU is around $400 but I could go over a little if required.
I don't really mind whether its AMD or Intel but I have heard Intel is starting take
I am also looking at getting a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 275 896MB, is a price of 267.477 USD any good for this card?
