What happened to Nissin Cup O Noodle Lobster Flavor?
It's been maybe 15 years or more since I last had this flavor in NYC. Early to mid 90s I suppose. It had the blue peel sticker. Back then, 1 cup of noodle was almost a dollar. It was hard to get a dollar then. Parents had crappy jobs and worked a lot and hard and not for a lot of money. As a soup addict (any kind of hot liquid will do!), it was a prize to get store bought soup! (obviously, I now see the value in a good home cooked beef broth with potatoes and other vegs). One day, my mom got me a Lobster flavored Cup O Noodle (Nissin). I think it cost 0.85 cents. I dropped it all over the floor by mistake. :( :( :(. But my mom whipped out one of her last dollars (that she would probably use for a cup of coffee for the week) to buy me another. It was so good. I only ate those from then on. Then switched to shrimp, and beef, and chicken, etc. But through all of my new experience, I never went back to lobster. And next thing you know, I can't find Lobster flavor anywhere!!!
Does anyone remember the Lobster flavor?? Where did they go? I want one!!! Very nostalgic...
1 AnswerCooking & Recipes1 decade agoOvergrown flower bed, where do I begin?
My new home has an overgrown flower bed. I don't really know much about gardening (total city girl) so I'm not sure how to attack this issue. There seems to be some kind of webs inside the long stems (?) and I'm sure there are some weird bugs in there! I'm sure the best move would be getting a weed whacker and just chopping off everything and bad bag it? But I'm prone to insect bites and get rashes easily! So I don't really want to do this! What are my options? Spray insecticide and weed whack it? Can something like Round Up kill everything in there? Should I just wait for the winter to dry it up and just dig everything out??
PS its a raised flower bed, and it's not too big. Maybe like, 5ft by 3ft or so.
4 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoPain along spinal cord because I'm boney?
The bones on my spinal cord (midway through) are achy. I can't lean on a wall or floor or hard seat without jumping from pain. I'm not skinny, exactly, but I am thin and you can see some of my skeletal structure- like clavicle, spinal cord- or course, hip bones, etc. I dance (ballet) a little bit on the side and the floor routines kill me!!! And then the teacher yells at me for not having my back on the floor! Is the pain because I am thin so I don't have a lot of cushioning? Or is there more to it? The good thing about all this is that I have pretty good posture because I can't slouch on seats! LOL. Can anyone relate?
2 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoHuman with cat woes. Need some sympathy... please?
Oh you wonderful animal lovers! I need your positive spirits and energy.
I am so stressed because of sick kitty (she's grown but will always be my kitty-can read previous posts-- all about my beloved Eggs)
I've done a lot for her. As much as I thought was needed- but definitely playing it by ear. Had test run (not a blood tested but it will be next). Initially she was 100% lethargic and not eating much. After some antibiotics, she stopped eating. I force fed her (as best I could) and she did gain her appetite since the beginning of the month. And as of today, she has been eating larger portions and she begs for food. Still lethargic but I feel like I'm so close of getting her to be more active.
But I feel like I am just NOT doing the right stuff. Some have mentioned that I am doing good as far as my process. But it's not! Just noticed she's like, full of fleas, and has flea dirt on her, and as of Sunday, she seems to have conjunctivitis. Clearing up, less red. But watery. I tried some cheapo spot treatment for flea control and it caused Eggs a rash.
I feel horrible. Am I killing my cat?!?!?!?!?!! And then Bacon, her sis, just got a crazy reaction from a flea collar tried. Looked like she was having an asthma attack and ever trembling! I ran to the scissor and just cut the collar off on both Bacon and Eggs. WTF was I thinking?????
I'm taking her to the vet on Sat and I am going to try to intern there on Fridays and maybe I will actually LEARN something. I feel like such an idiot.
Anyone know of a forum or a book where I can better educated myself?????
5 AnswersCats1 decade agoIs my cat getting better? Advice? A bit long but help needed?
Please everyone. I'm looking for some insight/ advice.
A month or so ago, my cat was very lethargic and barely eating. She (and the other cat) were on dry food, but I've since been feeding them both wet. Well, I took her to the vet were an initial consult didn't yield any results. She had a slight fever. Doc prescribed baby amoxicillian and said that should help. After a few days of the antibiotic, she completely stopped eating. After that it has been a crazy ordeal of trying to keep her eating and hydrated. She pretty much stopped evacuating completely.
I was finally able to obtain a urine sample from her and the doctor said she had high billirubin, but everything else (like her sugar) was pretty regulated. She said it was most likely the liver-- which makes a lot of sense because she wasn't evacuating!!! Doc never really gave me any prognosis and I felt like she wasn't being helpful- she didn't offer any home remedies, no Hills Science prescription (which I hear is good), NOTHING. So I searched online and learned how to force feed her (Not 100% clean and successful, but I did get some form of food into her).
After a few days, she slowly started getting her appetite back. I am so happy!!! She is slowly eating and wanting food! She is still very thin though, and she mostly goes outside of her litter box when she goes (she does urinate, but she will most likely do it on a bag on the floor if she finds one). And she never was jaundiced.
So now it seems like a UTI?? or is this all part of her initial discomfort? I am so happy she is eating and I do NOT want to give her antibiotics agains because that was when she completely stopped eating. I feel like she is slowly progressing- being a bit more social, eating, meowing for food- all things she stopped doing. So I truly believe she is getting better. Does anyone agree that she is getting better? I really don't want her to relapse and most things I see online is that it is important to get the cat eating again. Well... she's eating again... so am I in the clear as long as she continues to eat and drink?
Should I try natural approaches for the UTI/ liver function (like Milk Thistle?) :(. I just don't really know where I am at with all of this and I don't know how to proceed. I really don't want to take her to that vet because I am just not convinced by them. And the next closest vet is pretty far and cat does NOT do well in cats. And I don't want to stress her out.
Thanks in advance
5 AnswersCats1 decade agoMy cat has high bilirubin in her urine. What can I do?
So a few weeks ago I took my cat into the vet because she was real lethargic. Steroid shot and some antibiotics later and she's better- but not herself. Fast forward. Today I had her urine tested to see why she is still not herself. While her glucose was normal and something else here and there, her bilirubin was really high. I'm not sure how accurate the test itself was because I collected the urine at home and put it in a pill bottle (I had to improvise, she hasn't been peeing as often... at least not her in her litter box!). Unfortunately it was on a Saturday night,so I took the urine in today. I collected the urine fresh, but from the litter box,and put it in the fridge to keep it fresh, but obviously, it wasn't too fresh. Her urine seemed dark when I collected it. But today it was much darker. So I'm not sure if that is due to storage or because of the bilirubin. I am getting her blood tested as the next step this week. But in the mean time, while she's being diagnosed, is there anything I can do? The vet didn't seem to understand my question for whatever reason. She is already getting finicky with her eating. She eats sometimes and other times she won't. She doesn't really want to drink water either. I lock myself in the bathroom with her (because I have another cat) and wait with her till she at least eats a bit. I can tell she's weak. But what can I really do? Should I feed her kitty milk? Or something else cats may LOVE that is high in protein and other nutritious goodness? I just want my cat to eat and be happy :(. Is there anything I can do in the mean time?? Can anyone share stories? I just don't really know what all of this means for my cat. Test after test after test. Will they find the problem and fix it??
Thank for reading.
1 AnswerCats1 decade agoHow to fix a wall that was incorrectly opened up between kitchen and dining room?
I know I need a contractor for this because I myself can't do it, but I have a question...
I guess there was a complete wall between my kitchen and dining room. Previous owners must have decided to open it up-- but did a HORRIBLE job on it (unless they were giants!). Pretty much, they cut down the wall, but it is too high to be used for anything (except as a high table top with really high bar chairs). You can't really cut on it and you can't really prep food unless you have a step stool! Not only that, but they got one of the cheap countertops (plastic looking one), plopped it on top of their messy- cut wall (it looks really bad), held it up with huge gray brackets (the walls are white) and on the other side, a wooden pole to hold up that side of the counter. Yes, a wooden pole. That's not even fastened to the floor, so I can kick it out of place if I want to.
Technically, all that has to be done is to cut more dry wall and place a countertop correcly, right? Do I need to worry about electrical issues or if it's load bearing? Aside of studs, is there anything I need to consider before getting myself into this? Seems pretty simple, but I have no experience with any kind of construction work.
Thank in advance.
1 AnswerDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoNot convinced by vet's prognosis? Please help :(?
So please tell me if its me.
Vet said my cat had a fever and that was possibly why she has been lethargic. My cat has stopped eating dry food and I am feeding her canned wet Fancy Feast. It is the only thing she is eating at the moment, so it is what I'm feed her. The vet agreed to just feed her whatever she will eat for now. My personal opinion is that her low energy is by not eating (I have 2 cats who share bowls and I feed once a day before work, so I wasn't sure who wasn't eating). But after the pet visit, she still kinda... sad looking...
Another thing the vet noticed was the cat's teeth. She said she has gingivitis and receding gum line. I adopted the cat less than a year ago, and her documentation stated she was about 4 months old when I got her. Vet says she thinks the cat is about 8 to 10 years old!!!! While I suspected Eggs was maybe a bit older then they said on the documents, I HIGHLY doubt she was years old!!! She had a kitten face. I've seen her grow!! You know that face kittens have when they are young? And then how they look as they get older (I don't know how to explain the features), Eggs went through that. Then she mentioned Feline Leukemia could cause receding gum lines, but she was vaccinated and had a negative test for it when I adopted her (under a year ago).
POINT IS, my cat is still not herself. The vet gave her a steroid shot yesterday and she still doesn't seem better. I think her fever has gone down because her ears are colder (Yesterday they were HOT!). I have to get antibiotics today (baby amoxicillan) to see if its an infection, she could fight it. Am I overreacting for being this concerned? Should I just wait for the antibiotics and wait a few days? My Eggs looks so sad. And my other cat, Bacon, doesn't understand what's wrong with Eggs and keeps trying to mess with her.
Next steps will be blood work and if nothing comes up there, dental work.
I'm just not convinced by the vet... just not a real positive vibe...
Sorry this is so long. I'm just concern :(
6 AnswersCats1 decade agoFirst time growing bulbs (3 different ones). Am I on the right track? Few Q's...?
Ok, I have a huge amaryllis bulb that is growing in a pot (part of a kit). I inserted the bulb correctly, leaving the top part of the neck out. Ok, so I've been water and what not for about 4 weeks. Finally, I started getting some stems! And now, about a week and half later, I have more long stem leaves! They are about a foot tall. I water twice a week for the most part. One time using a bit of miracle grow next water just regular water.
So, when will I ever get a flower? Am I on the right path? Also, some of the root has made its way to the top and I see a few parts just peaking out. I added small stones to top it off. Is that ok?
Also, I had bought some gladiolus bulbs at the Dollartree. There were like, 5 small bulbs. I bought them just for fun-- didn't think they would grow-- especially not in a pot!!! Well, finally, i just saw a stem that sprouted out! Looks so nice and healthy! I mean, will it grow? Will they grow??? Can they bloom if they are planted in a pot?
And my third bulbs are Paperwhites (3). The Paperwhites (and the Amaryllis) were bought as an indoor plant kit. All these bulbs were planted at the same time in the pots that came with the kit. I've followed the same directions as I've done with all the other bulbs, and I've gotten NOTHING from the Paperwhites!!!! NOTHING. So those aren't going to bloom or stem, right?
Sorry for all the questions! I've never dealt with bulbs. But all my herbs seem to be doing well :)
2 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoWhy can't I feel my legs when I sleep?
I have the weirdest feeling inside my legs and I feel it when I am asleep (or trying to sleep). I literally don't have feeling in my legs. They don't feel numb and there is ZERO pain. I just can't feel them (like if they were gone), so I have to move them around and try to put pressure on them so I can feel them. I try sleeping in all different position for some comfort, but it doesn't work. I don't think it is RLS because I don't feel anything! And RLS is usually qualified by aches and creepy crawly feelings (whatever that means). I mean, I may have RLS because I also get aches in my legs- but this is a whole separate issue from that. I feel like putting pegs in my bed so I can keep a leg firmly propped on it! I dunno...
If I feel that weird feeling before bed, I usually take benadryl or something that will put me to sleep so I don't have to deal with it. But last night, I couldn't do that and spent yet another sleepless night. I still feel something this morning. It's weird to explain... but I feel like I constantly have to clench my muscles in order to feel some relief. And when I was a bit younger and still in school (not that long ago), I would throw my heavy bookbag on my legs for some relief. WEIRD I know.
Why do I feel this? What is it? Can anyone relate?
PS I'm 25 and a female
3 AnswersOther - General Health Care1 decade agoHow To Naturally Preserver Natural Red Hair?
My hair is naturally red. Well, at this point, it's auburn-ish burgundy-ish and much more noticeable outside. In doors, it looks auburn/ brown. But if you catch it under the light's glare, you can notice the red, but its still subtle. When I was younger, my hair was vibrant red. Never like strawberry blond, but like really red. But now, it's gotten darker :-/ (I'm in my mid 20s).
I've never dyed my hair and I don't plan on doing so. But I was wondering if there is a natural way to preserver or brighten up red hair. I know Henna is a natural red dye, but if I use it, I won't be a natural redhead!
Doe anyone know of anyway natural ways to preserve red hair? A rinse or shampoo or whatever?
2 AnswersHair1 decade agoFoundation- What am I doing wrong?!?
Ok. So I'm FAR from a makeup guru, but I love makeup! Which girl doesn't, right? It just looks so pretty, even though I barely wear any. My issue is with foundations!
I have clear (for the most part) normal to dry skin so I've been trying different kinds of liquid or cream foundations. I tried powder in the past and it just made my skin look drier. I've got my skin's texture under control-- I exfoliate with Aveeno which has microbeads and not like the harsh apricot scrubs, and I use moisturizer with SPF everyday. So the texture is fine. However, my cheeks look a bit red at times WHICH I ABSOLUTELY HATE. Which is why I want to apply foundation. But whenever I do wear foundation (MAC usually), the application never looks smooth-- well, not to me. When I look in the mirror, it seems like the foundation has separated itself. I don't know how to explain it... It just doesn't seem like its on there cohesively.
I've applied with different kinds of brushes and my fingers. With my fingers is the only way that I can kind get it to absorb with my skin, but then the application is not even. So I try to even it out with Evian Mist or Mac Fix+ and again and a brush or sponge, it seems like the foundation is dissolved. And with a buffer brush?! FORGET ABOUT IT. Even WORST.
WHAT is the issue here!? Could it be that I am sheering it out too much? I use moisturizer, and or a primer and my skin over all, is pretty smooth. Could it be my pores are too big? Why can't I get a canvas look with foundation? Isn't that the point...
4 AnswersMakeup1 decade agoWhat can I do with my raised flower bed?
I have a raised flower bed outside my front window. It's about 5ft by 3 ft and it's kind of like in step/ stair formation. I don't really have the time and creativity to be landscaper, but I'm tired of looking at this ugly dried up stalks everyday. During the summer time, there is a pretty bloom- which leads me to believe that previous owners planted bulbs. Can I buy medium size plants and flowers and just plant them? I'm guessing this is not how it works... but I don't have money to hire a landscaper for just this small patch. Can I use some Roundup to kill whatever is already in that soil?
So clueless...

5 AnswersOther - General Health Care1 decade agoquick resume questions?
have a couple questions on how to word some things on a resume.
how do i say that i was supervisor? I supervised the receptionist. she reported directly to me.
also, even tho it is technically not in my job title, i coordinate a lot of events for our different US offices and also one international office (canada). i help set up purchase orders for them and also i'm the only facilities person who has a credit card in the US so i sometimes order certain supplies for them and pay for certain rentals (such as storage space, pitney bowes machines, other smaller leases).
how can i put that in a resume!? lol. my resume is already a page and 3/4 long. im trying to cut it shorter, but i seriously do soo much at my job. its not far to cut out that stuff that i do. especially since i am like, the only facilities person in the US with so much responsibility!
thanks!

Now it is asking what my Microsoft i am using, whether XP or Vista. Well, yes i am using XP, but it came with Vista. Do i chose Vista or XP. also, i can not find the original CDs for restoring, which is why i need another way of restoring. Will i be needing this after i perform the PC Restore? One last question, my computer starts up rather fast (its pretty new and under used) so i dont have time to press the F11 option to perfor the pc reboot. is it not taking me to the blue screen because i am pressing F11 for XP instead of the F8 for Vista, or is that i am not fast enough??
