  • Can anyone give me tips on finding accomodation in New York?? Please help.?

have just arrived in Manhattan with a friend and we are finding it surprisingly difficult to find a place to rent for the summer. We have checked Craigslist but haven't had much luck.

Can anyone point us in any other direction that might help us find a place to stay? Is it worth paying the brokers fees to find somewhere?

    Thanks in advance

  • is there ANYWHERE open on Christmas Day? Any ideas on something to do?

    Living in Dublin.

family don't bother celebrating christmas. I don't care much for it anyway - just another day IMO!

I am *not* going to go and join someone else's family for it!

am getting kind of bored of sitting in doing nothing every christmas...is anywhere open? I'll do anything.lol

    and yes, Bah Humbug! :P

  • Is this revenge plan far too evil?

Getting my boyfriend back for a few random practical jokes he has played on me (we were friends for 8 years before getting together a couple of months ago so I am comfortable enough doing this knowing he won't think I am totally nuts and break it off :) )

I was thinking, get his brother in law (frank) to watch The Ring (Japanese version of course) with him one night (as I know this movie scares him). Frank then leaves to go home leaving Rob in the house by himself. when Rob is asleep in the dead of the night, we sneak back into the house....me dressed as Samara...wig, makeup, dress...everything.

sneak into robs room, put the tv on static...and either

a/ stand at the end of the bed in front of the big screen static tv waiting for Rob to wake up

    or

b/ crawl onto the bed right up to his face and shriek when he wakes up.

    is this way too evil?lol

Also, would you prefer a or b if I were to do it?

    Any other suggs?

    thanks

  • What is the worst compliment you have ever given someone?

was out on Friday night and bumped into a girl I used to go to school with. we had no choice but to pass each other and stop to say hello....it was of course one of those hugely fake nice things (it's just easier to be nice). so we did the usual 'oh hi' and a big fake hug and kiss on the cheek.

she then said (fakely of course :) ) 'oh, you look great'....now usually that's the compliment I use when faking it, but since she used it I got caught in the headlights and said

'oh thanks, I know this is gonna sounds really strange, but your hair smells great!!'.lol

Don't ask me where it came from, i literally could not find one nice thing to say about the girl and I made it up and blurted it out as I felt obliged to return the compliment.lol

whats the worst compliment you have ever given someone?

  • just watched two horribly depressing movies, what should I watch next?

Just saw Imaginary Heroes about how a family deals with their sons suicide, and Life as a House...a story about a father who has cancer.

Very good movies but both highly depressing. i need something else to watch now.

I can handle one more depressing movie so long as it isn't along the lines of the cliched and overrated notebook!!

or, I wouldn't mind a comedy if someone can suggest a good one...

    Thanks

  • Can someone explain to me the point of?

setting off fireworks in the lashing rain on a very cloudy Dublin night?!

Just sitting here tucked up on the couch all cosy with my cup of tea thinking of the eejits who are out in the rain doing this. :)

For the record, I don't mind bangers or fireworks, but why not save them until a nice clear - or at least dry - night?

  • do you think social services should get involved with some of the families on How Clean is your House?

I'm watching it at the moment (in the pits of unemployment atm :) )and it is shocking!!

Maggots falling into the beds. Flies laying eggs in their rooms! rotting food in the kitchen, not even a place to cook a meal.

A five year old lives in that house.

Surely that has to be neglect??? What's to say that these disgraceful people won't go back to living in complete filth after a few months?

I don't usually over react but it is a disgrace to have a child living in those conditions...and then to treat it so flippantly in a crap tv show.

  • Can anyone give me a good proverb or quote about the past catching up with you?

Just wondering. Somebody last night randomly brought up an instance which I thought had been forgotten about and left in the past, but of course, the past never seems to truly be in the past and always has a way of coming back to haunt you.

    Any good quotes?

    Thanks a mill in advance

  • Do you think the Lisbon Treaty will be ratified this time round?

I've seen so much support for the yes side (with friends and their family's etc.) but on message boards and such loads of people seem to be very passionate on a no vote.

Sadly I think it will be ratified this time thanks to Cowen and his persistant bullying of the Irish people.

What do you think? Will it pass?

  • I've done something very morally questionable, how can I balance out my karma so I don't go to hell?

Friend having big party tonight as he is leaving his job. he was really expecting me to go, but I really was not bothered making the bus journey to go out drinking as I am wrecked....

Now, I know what your thinking, why not just say that? That sort of excuse does not qualify as a legitimate reason to skip a night out in Dublin!

So, when I got a text asking where I was, I said I was with two friends who were reminiscing about a friend that died the other day and it was too hard for me to up and leave for a party while they were upset...

The worst part is, this is actually true, a friend (that I knew through my friends so I wasn't that close to him) did kill himself and my friends are very upset...however, tonight I was actually tucked up in bed watching a Big Brother. Now the friends at the party are asking if I'm ok....and I feel even guiltier!!

Tell me the truth, what will I have to do to escape going to hell for using such a horrible excuse? (except for redeeming myself by telling the truth)

    Thanks.

  • I found out today that a guy I know murdered someone?

and stabbed two others, then proceeded to kill himself!! (this may sound familiar as it was in todays news)

He seemed like such a normal guy!! I didn't know him too well (other than the usual small talk when bumping into each other) but a lot of my close friends were very good friends with him and have been for years...

Jealousy forced him to stab his ex girlfriend, her new boyfriend and his older brother, her boyfriend is now dead, the ex is dead and she and the older brother are in hospital...all this because he couldn't bare to see her with anyone else?

This is insane. 3 families distraught 2 lives wasted and 2 lives ruined...

How could someone who seemed so normal do something like this?

I can't make sense of it!!

  • I have to ask, did anyone read that article the awful Peter Andre did about 2 weeks ago?

Don't know what magazine it was, but I just know in the ad for it he says "read about.......and how I never cheated on Jordan and how I can PROVE it".lol

that part really intrigued me (not enough to actually go out and buy the magazine though).

Just wondering, what was his "proof"? (how can one even prove such a thing?)

    Thanks

  • If you see somebody with loads of thumbs downs...?

Do you give them a thumbs up cos you feel sorry for them?

I just saw an answer that was completely normal, in no way offensive or took a strange viewpoint on a sensitive subject, but for some reason it had loads of thumbs downs, and I shamefully admit, I couldn't help but thumb this person down :(.lol

    Just wondering :)

  • I have this weird sensation in my cheeks, does anybody know what it could be?

Just in the section below my cheekbone and above my jaw. It like this slightly tingling sensation but it very very slightly almost stings a little bit. It's not a rash or anything, it feels like it is literally in my cheek, like the blood vessels are doing weird things or something.

Sorry for my description but it is so difficult to explain.lol.

I have had it for about 24 hours now....anyone know what it is? and more importantly, how to make it stop? it's driving me mad and has gotten more annoying in the last hour.

    thanks.x

  • How does the ryanair website work? They are scamming b*stards?

Booking for two people, charged four times for online check in, then charged a further four times for payment...even though it's all going through on the same card!

Then, they bump the price up by a further €20 on the flights when I get to the last page.

Do they hike up the prices up on flights depending on how many times the page is clicked on? or is it possible that in those 20 seconds someone else booked seats thus inflating the price?

With all of these hidden charges it's no wonder they are still in business!

  • Just after you had your first child, what was the one gift YOU wanted more than anything?

Friends 23rd birthday is coming up, her and boyfriend have a 3month old baby. Just looking for something to get her, not anything for the baby.

I was thinking a restaurant voucher and a night of free babysitting.

I'm really not a fan of the babysitting though so would welcome other present suggestions!

What was one thing you wanted??

    Thanks

  • Do you ever wonder if the person you're chatting to on the net could be a murderer?

    http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20090511/tuk-german-gui...

wtf? How scary is that, to think that someone from yahoo might be hiding by your house waiting for an attack.

Fair play to the guy for managing to write "DAV".

Do you think you would be able to recognise a crazed murderer if you were talking to him/her on the net?
