  • Slander at work?

I work in the automotive field as a technician. Recently I have found out that co-workers have been telling the new manager completely false statements about my work ethics and work habits. The co-workers that are spreading these lies don't even work in the same building as I do, so how can they possibly know how good or not my work performance is? As far as I am concerned I had no problems whatsoever with these co-workers for them to attack me in this way. As a matter of fact, I have had lunch with these particular co-workers on many occasions. My performance numbers are as high as anyone else's at the job and I have years more experience than everyone else who is talking trash about me. Now the manager all of a sudden and with no good explanation (other than a bogus lie that makes no sense) has changed his attitude about me and has taken back his offer to train me for a better position which would obviously increase my salary. What should I do?

  • comcast dvr?

I just got a scientific atlanta dvr, is there a jukebox function so you can set the dvr to play like 2 or more shows in a row? My kid likes spongebob and when the episode finishes, the dvr stops and there is no repeat one / all option. Is there a special screen to allow multiple show playback or do I have a jacked up box? Thanx in advance.

  • Forclosure advice?

I recently moved to another city because of a good job offer right before the housing slump occurred. I have been paying a mortgage and rent for the last seven months and I don't think anyone is going to buy this house anytime soon. I am at the point where I won't be able to keep both payments up. I have asked the bank if it was ok to short sell the house, they agreed to the idea. The house has been listed at $40k below market for the last 3 months and no prospective buyers. The bank now states that I could continue with a short sale or a deed in lieu but there is no guarantee that they won't foreclose between now and 60 days from now. Renting the house will only cut my payments by 1/4 because of the market situation so that won't help either. I just want to get rid of this house, what should I do?

  • Does anyone know the name of a British secret agent movie from the 80's...?

He wears a light gray or white suit and is an excellent marksman. One scene in the movie has one bad guy standing in a field with shaving cream on his face smoking a cigar while another guy standing a few yards away, shaves him using a gun and showing off his skill, actually gives him a nice clean shave without injuring him - until at the end he puts a bullet and splits the cigar straight down the middle killing the man just for kicks. The main character has this old 1951 MG-TD MIDGET or 1965 MORGAN 4/4 ROADSTER looking type car (not sure of what kind of car he has, it just looks like one of these) all white and he pulls out this huge gatling gun and opens it up. The final scene has the main guy walking in a park and a man in a tall building with a gun shoots him, the main guy just 'knows' where the gunman is and pops him instead. The main guy had his hand in front of his forehead and (unintentionally) catches the bullet to only find it was modified not to kill him. Anyone know it?

  • Would you vote for an overweight or disabled president - why or why not?

I read an interesting article about how Australians voted for leaders who were appealing to the eye. This probably wasn't a scientific study, but it raises an interesting question. Being completely honest, would you vote for an overweight or disabled presidential candidate regardless of party affiliation? Why or why not.

  • Is there a book or website where you can learn the meanings behind American expressions?

I have trouble sometimes explaining some common American expressions to my wife (it takes 2 to tango, he's gotta mouth like a sailor - things llike this for example) and I would like to know if there is some sort of book or website that has a list of the most common expressions and their meaning as well as why the came to be. It's kind of hard to google when I'm not exactly sure how to word this question in a search engine. Any help would be appreciated.

  • What is the best way to wash white clothes? My wife and I can't figure it out.?

Whenever I try to wash white clothes, they look the same as when they were put in the wash. Are there any tricks or better methods to using bleach to get clothes sparkling white?
