1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans7 years agodisputing property line?
Property has not been surveyed and no one wants to pay the 10,000 - 15,000 to pay it. The original owner that split the land has stated what he sold and that is where my fence is going. New neighbor disputes this.....do I put the fence up anyway??? Anyone know my legal rights in Illinois??
7 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoSquatters rights in Illinois?
Anyone know a website I can search about Squatters rights in Southern Illinois. I have owned my property for 9 years and my new neighbors have started mowing into my property. Now, out here in the country no one has had any of their land surveyed. So, if my neighbor has his land surveyed and we find some of my property is his, do I lose that land?? Or is the fact that I've maintained it for 9 years mean it's mine. They have lived next door for only 3 years.
The previous owners and I agreed on the property line but apparently the new neighbors don't like that agreement.
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoDog training collars - good brands?
I am going to have to purchase a training collar for my pit bull/lab mix and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a brand. I have seen Innotek and Pet Safe, are either of these good.
My problem is about once a week Charlie gets a wild hair to chase the cars coming down our country road. There's very little traffic, and even though we will be putting a fence up in the next year I need something I can use now to deter him. I appreciate any comments.
Thanks
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoIs there a website to see where dog killers live?? Like sex offenders.?
I live in Southern Illinois and my dog was shot and killed by a man that lives about 3 miles a way. The police don't want to do anything and my hands are tied. I have no proof that he did it.
In the last 5 months I know of 2 other people living in Western Kentucky - the Paducah area - that have had their dogs murdered too. There have been no arrests for any of these incidents.
Is there a website out there where people can go and see where dogs have been murdered?? Obviously you can't put names because you would open yourself up for a lawsuit, but I want people to know where my Beau was killed. So people living in the surrounding area know there is a dog killer in their midst.
Anyone know of any website like this??
11 AnswersDogs1 decade agoCalcified disc/paralysis - Is there hope he'll walk again?
My dog has been diagnosed with a calcified disc. For the past 3 days he has been unable to walk, stand, or even sit up. He can do nothing more then lay there, lift his head, and wag his tail. The vet didn't appear too optimistic but I'm not giving up. He has had massive doses of steroids but nothing has worked. His bowels are not moving but I'm giving him laxatives to try to start them up. He is urinating but we have to keep blankets under him because I'm not sure he has control.
Good new is - he eats, drinks, wags his tail, is alert, and he sometimes tries to get up. He still has feeling in his legs but the "receptors aren't connecting".
Does anyone have any idea what this is about or where I can get more info?? This is a first for me and I don't know where to start my research. Beau is a lab mix rescue and I have no idea how old he is. My guess is between the ages of 7 - 11. He weighs around 60lbs and is currently on 4mg of Medrol and 50 mg of Tramadol. I've been giving his Ace to help him relax. But I have to say he doesn't appear to be in pain.
Please, please, if you have any info it would be greatly appreciated. We have a battle ahead of us and I need all the knowledge I can get to know what were fighting. I sincerely thank anyone that can help!!
And yes, if I feel he's tired of fighting or that he is in pain I will do the right thing and let him go. But we've only been going for 3 days and I have to give him a chance.
1 AnswerDogs1 decade agoCan someone help me name our new baby Cockatiel??
Our 2 cockatiels have managed to hatch an egg after trying for over a year. This is not something that we planned for, as a matter of fact we have done everything to prevent this from happening. But now that the little bundle of joy is here we are extremely excited. However, for the life of me I can't think of a name. I want something that portrays this little bird unplanned life - because he/she is a little miracle. A chance, a Fluke.
Any ideas??
3 AnswersBirds1 decade agoBest pet pharmacy on the web?
There are a couple of prescriptions that I need but I want to be sure and use a reputable pharmacy. My vet has charged me $70 for the prescriptions Enalapril and SAMe
(or S Adenosyl). I've looked at Dr.'s Foster and Smith and these medications are 1/2 the price of what I was charged. What pet pharmacy's do you all use??
7 AnswersDogs1 decade agoCockatiel babies coming soon?
My husband and I have finally decided to let our cockatiels have babies. We have always removed the eggs from the cage but this time we decided to let them be. There are 4 eggs and they should be hatching within the next week. My question is - what is the best food for Mom and Dad to be eating right now?? I have tried to get them to eat Zupreem but they are stuck on this seed diet (they've been eating seed since the pet store). And they won't touch any fruit I put in the cage. Is a seed diet going to be okay for the chicks?? I'm really concerned about the babies' health right now. Should I try to hand feed them myself???
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
1 AnswerBirds1 decade agoRuptured disk in 70 lbs lab mix?
My lab mix is 70 pounds and ruputured a disk in his back last week. He has seen the vet a couple times and is on steroids, antiobiotics, and will have rymadil when he is done with steroids. He is back up and walking (using his back legs), but I was wondering what else I need to know about this. The vet said that was very odd for such a large dog. Of course I rescued him a year ago and don't know what kind of trauma he's been through. Should I keep in a crate more often? should he be exercising yet? Anyone else been through this. Yes, he's an inside dog.
6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoVet N Pet Direct - anyone ever use this website???
My friend gave me a website where you can purchase Frontline Plus and Heartguard at a much cheaper rate then at the vet's office. Has anyone ever used products from this site or know anything about it. I don't want to purchase this stuff if it's old, expired, tampered with, ect. I want the best for my kids.
Here's the website if anyone wants to check it out:

2 AnswersDogs1 decade agoLost Dog - how far will they travel????
My dog wandered away from our home in the country on Sunday morning. He is neutered, but since I only adopted him 6 months ago he doesn't know his way around to well. I've put an ad in the paper, put up fliers, and have drove a couple of tanks of gas out of my car. What distance should I be searching right now??? 1 mile - 5miles??? On average, how far will a 60lb lab mix travel. Keep in mind it has rained not stop for the past two days - temp is in the 50's.
I greatly appreciate any input you have. By the way, we are in Southern IL - no ice around here!!

1 AnswerOther - Beauty & Style1 decade agoColonoscopy - Blood in stool?
Sorry to have to ask this but I need some advice. I had a colonoscopy 2 1/2 years ago and they found a polyp - the doctors removed it and scheduled another colonoscopy in 5 years (2010). Now, the problem is about a month ago I had started seeing fresh blood on my toilet paper when I had a bm. I would also see fresh blood in the stool. This happened for about 2 weeks - but the last 3 weeks I haven't seen anything. Should I be concerned??
I spoke to my doctor today and she said that she was going to follow-up on my last colonoscopy report but she felt like she would leave it alone for now. Should I press the issue and ask for another colonscopy?? Would something major pop up in the 2 1/2 years since my last test???
Thanks for any advice you can give. By the way, there has been no pain or cramping and my bm's are completely regular.
I don't have external hemroids I know.
No new meds.
I've never needed stool softeners.

4 AnswersWrestling1 decade agoGoldfish Food?
I just saved 5 goldfish from my sisters's goldfish pond (she was draining the pond) and I was wondering what kind of food is best to feed?? She never bothered feeding them - they just ate stems, algae, ect.
I'm trying to give them a little better life now. I know I can buy goldfish food at the petstore but I heard they like vegies - is this true??? What kind of vegies?? Thanks for the info!!
By the way, they are in a 40 gallon tank and each one is about 2 inches long.
10 AnswersFish1 decade agoIL Unemployment Question?
I was discharged from my job over a month ago for printing out threatening emails off a co-workers computer. I filed for unemployement just a few days after but they denied my request. Today, I picked up a copy of file (from the unemployment office) and found out that the unemployement person that interviewed me put down incorrect information on my paperwork. I also found out that my old company never bothered contacting the unemployement office back. If my past employer is not fighting my unemployement then why did I get denied????
I have filed an appeal and my hearing is Tuesday. Should I contact the Unemployement office manager and let them know about how several of my answeres are wrong??? No wonder I was denied - she put down that I had been warned before and that I knew what I was doing was wrong. None of that is true!!!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoCockatiel Breeding - I don't want them to.......help??
I have 4 cockatiels, 2 females and 2 males - yes I know I'm asking for trouble. I actually have 3 cages and absolutely no breeding boxes. However, last night my 1 year old female layed an egg. Her "partner" is only about 8 months old.
What can I do?? I took the egg but I feel like that may have been the wrong thing to do. From what I've read she will just lay more eggs. Any advice to get them to stop breeding, laying eggs, ect. I don't want to do anything to hurt my animals and I feel like taking her egg away hurt her - not physically but mentally.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!!
6 AnswersBirds1 decade agoHeartworm Treatment?
My dog just with through his heartworm treatments on Monday and Tuesday. They gave him injections into his back and as of today his back still seems very sensitive and sore - anyone know when this will go away?? I've given him Rymadil the past few days and that seems to help but he really doesn't want me touching his back.
He is an adopted dog - he had heartworms when I adopted him. And I've been keeping him in his crate most of the time so he will stay calm.
