  • What can I do if my bank is pushing me to default?

In 2005, my father, brother and I bought a piece of commercial real estate in GA. We placed it in a LLC. My father was a tenet/owner at the time.

Our banker promised us that if we signed a 25-year adjustable rate loan that was due as balloon payment in 3 years that they would continue to renew the loan every three years until it was paid off. We have that in writing from an email that was sent from the branch’s now vice president.

We paid every payment for 8 years, and never missed one.

I paid out of pocket for two years when we had no tenet, and now that we have one they are forcing us into a bad position.

During the time the bank collapsed, and was bought by Sun Trust.

Real estate values dropped, the building is under water, and now they want the property off the books, and refuse to continue to lend.

Also, it maybe important to know that my dad had a business loan with the collapsed bank and defaulted on it 2 years ago.

My Dad’s credit is crap, and I think my brother’s is as well. No one wants to lend on our property so it is heading toward default.

I am considering cutting my losses rather than bringing cash to the table to reach the 25% of the property value that most lenders want to give another loan. The money required would wipe out our retirement accounts.

However, I don’t want to do this if the bank can come after our retirement assets.

What are the implications of defaulting?

Is there anything I can do to force the bank to play ball? We can pay the loan, and will continue to do so, if they change their stance.

    Any advice?

  • Homosexuals, would you please answer a question for a Christian?

I am asking a serious question, and I would like to ask you to give it thoughtful consideration.

I am a Christian who believes the Bible, and therefore I believe homosexuality is wrong. However, I see it as one of thousands of sins that humans commit. I have committed heterosexual sex sins. I don’t see it as that big of a deal. It’s just I default to what the Bible says about the matter because I believe in Jesus.

(I know that you might not value the Bible, but that is the situation I am in. Please don’t turn this into a Bible is wrong type thing. It’s not what I am going after).

However, I think that Jesus teaches us to love people. So I choose to love gays, and be kind to them when I meet them, and just be a normal guy. It’s not fake. Although, I know very few gay people, then ones I have spent time with I have really liked. Secondly, I hate the way that Christians have treated you, and I stand up for gay people when they are mocked.

If we met, and I treated you like I described above, we became friends, and you found out what I believed about the morality of homosexuality how would it change our relationship. Would it be something minor that we could agree to disagree on, or would it be a really big issue between us? If it is a big issue, why?

I have never been able to bring myself to discuss this with the homosexuals I know because I didn’t want to harm them or our relationship. Is it something I should share or is it better kept a secret. Have you ever seen a Christian and a homosexual deal with this topic in a healthy way?

  • Atheists: Why do some of you claim you can be good without God?

If God is a delusion, why isn't morality? Why not treat it as a fairytale as well? Monkeys kill, rape, and steal. Why shouldn't humans? We are animals. Why should we listen to reason and not our instincts? If survival of the fittest got us this far, why stop it now? If you are an atheists, but still believe in morality I would like to hear a logical explanation as to why. Please also give some moral rules that should be followed in all cultures at all times, and how you know those to be the case. How could someone discover them through a falsifiable experiment (just like the type, you would require me to provide as proof for God's existence)?

  • Help… I can't get my 2008!!! W2?

    Help…

I am a pastor. I worked for a church from 2006 – May 2008. In 2007, I dropped out of the social security program because pastors are allowed to. The payroll company (ADP) has failed to correct my 2008 W2. I cannot pay my taxes. The churches book keeper calls them every week. They will not talk to me because I am not their customer. I am sick of waiting. What can I do?

  • What is Christmas all about anyways?

I believe that most people would agree the Jesus was not born on the 25th of December. If you are a Christian, why do you celebrate Jesus' birthday on the 25th even though you know that he was not born on that day? Secondly, why do pastors continue to teach Christmas sermons during Christmas time, when they too know it was the wrong date?

  • How can Christians and Atheists have mutually benefical relationships?

Our typical tendency is to desire for other people to become like us. If you are an atheist, you want people to be rational. If you are a Christian, you want people to be more faithful. The reality of the situation is that in this lifetime we will never see both groups agree. Hard Core Christians don't become atheists, and vice versa. So my question is how can two group who have completely opposing ideologies have mutually beneficial relationships? How can we build each other up as fellow human beings in a way that doesn't require the other group to change their beliefs? Is that even possible?

  • Dawkins and Harris Questions for Atheists and Agnostics who have read their works?

I was wondering it there were any arguments for atheism that Dawkins or Harris put forth that you felt were poor arguments or where not logical. Are there any that you feel you could rip apart? It has been my experience that many people read books like the “God delusion,” and do not ever have a single point of disagreement with them. As “free thinkers” I would love to hear some of your critiques. Because if you don’t have serious critiques, then I think you are following them blindly.

  • Question about Atheism?

Why is it that Atheists are starting to refer to Christians as “delusional” or as having committed “intellectual suicide?” Calling someone who disagrees with you “dumb” only serves to offend them.

I would like ask why does this group of people, who considers themselves intellectually informed, use such tactics?
