I like sports and I know a lot about sports. I'll give you a relatively unbiased answer to most professional sports questions (MLB, NFL and sometimes NHL and NBA) and college sports. I'm not an idiot. I also enjoy geography and general trivial knowledge. :) Yankees, Dolphins, Flyers, Nets, Pitt Panthers, and Tennessee Vols are my teams :)

  • How do I make a painting that has the texture of a vinyl record?

I m trying to paint a gift box black with the texture of a vinyl record. Would using normal acrylic paint and then using a fine-toothed comb do the trick? Or would I have to mix the paint with a texturing element? Any other ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Golf after hours?

I'm thinking about getting a season pass to the local golf course. I'm new to town and it's a fairly upscale course. My schedule is pretty tight and the only hours I'll have to golf are 6:30-sunset. That's plenty of time for me to get at least nine holes in but the problem is the course is closed at 6. Does anyone have any experience with their course letting them golf after hours? I know all course management is different and I'll obviously ask but I want to know if it's even a reasonable question so I don't embarrass myself. Thank you

  • What to wear the the PGA Championship?

I'm attending the PGA Championship this weekend as a spectator (obviously) and I'm not sure how exactly I should dress. I'm a male and I plan on wearing a light polo shirt and plaid shorts but I'm not sure about the footwear. Are sneakers appropriate or should I go a little more dressy? The only "dress" shoes I have that seem appropriate for shorts are my golf shoes themselves and I doubt they would want me wearing those and tearing up the course.

Also, I'm in the Navy and a few of my friends have brought up the idea of going in uniform, either dress whites or service, but I'm not sure I like this idea both for the fact that the uniforms aren't very comfortable and I really don't like the added attention I get when I wear it.

I'm willing to go out and buy an entire new outfit if necessary and I'm really not any good at fashion so any thoughts are appreciated, thank you in advance.

  • Possible to borrow a building?

So me and my friend are trying to build a Rube Goldberg machine and we don't have a space to do it. We were hoping to have some sort of large warehouse. So is it possible to find a warehouse/building for sale in our neighborhood, call the broker, and ask to borrow it for a week at little to no cost?

  • Should I start Chris Johnson against Miami?

Alright, my predicament: Chris Johnson is the best player in fantasy football this year and is almost guaranteed to put up at least 20 every week. (ESPN standard scoring). But I'm a die-hard Dolphins fan and he's playing them this week. I don't want to cheer for the other team's best player against my team. And if this was any other game for the Dolphins, I wouldn't care but, if they lose this game they can basically say bye bye to the playoffs. But on the other hand, if I don't start Chris Johnson, I can say bye bye to the fantasy football championship. I don't know at all what to do.

I've had a policy all season to sit my fantasy players against the Dolphins, but CJ is a fantasy God.

  • Hines Ward or Michael Crabtree this week in fantasy.?

Now before you laugh, let me tell you why the Tree is worthy of consideration.

He is playing the Tennesse Titans who have the 32nd ranked pass defense in the league. Furthermore, the Titans are coming off of a win which could give them momentum and keep the game close in San Fran. This could mean that Alex Smith will continue throwing until the very end.

Ward on the other hand is up against the Broncos coming off their first loss of the season. They rank 6th against the pass which is incredible considering they are always up in games and teams need to throw against them. Ward had a dud last week and I'm not too confident in him anymore.

That being said, do I take the solid, mostly consistent Ward against a tough D or Crabby who has the table set to absolutely explode?

  • Internet connection problem?

I am using a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop with vista and I continually lose my wired internet connection.

It just randomly goes from full internet access to limited so I can't use the internet. There's really no pattern to when it happens and it's really annoying.

And because I am on my universities network, I can't just reset the router I have to reset my whole computer and it takes so much time.

Any ideas to why this might happen or how I can fix it? thanks.

  • My mouth hurts when I first eat something and haven't eaten for awhile?

When I eat something for the first time each day or if I haven't eaten for a long time and then I eat something the sides of my mouth hurt, like the area right around the very back of my jaw. It's a sharp pain and it goes away fairly quickly.

I've had this problem my whole life and it doesn't really bother me, I'm just curious what it could be. My dad says the same thing happens to him.

  • What do hockey players say to each other during a fight or scrum?

You can always see hockey player's mouths moving when the refs are holding them back, but what exactly do hockey players smack talk about when teams get into a scrum? Do they brag about who's winning or make fun of a bad play the other player had or talk about their mothers? Just wondering thanks

  • What's up with the influx of 3D movies?

I've seen so many previews for 3D movies and television shows over the past few months. Is it just me or is there more than usual? For example, My Bloody Valentine, Coraline, and the Chuck episode in 3D. Has the technology changed or something or is it just a coincidence?

  • Who else is really excited for the start of the MLB season to watch the Yanks!?

I've been a Yankee fan for my entire short life and I can't remember a time when I was more excited for the beginning of the season. (I was a bit too young to be super excited for the most recent championship years as I was 10 in 2000).

The fact that we just brought in a multitude of superstars isn't even the half of it. We are coming off a very dissapointing season means we can and should do a lot better. We also haven't won a series in eight years and rather than be discouraged, I am excited for a chance to prove that we are, always have been, and always will be the best team in baseball.

Joe Girardi has a year under his belt and is ready for New York this year. And in light of the recent Torre allegations, I think Girardi is actually better for the Yanks than Torre. His passion for the game, managing, and the Yankees is unmatched anywhere and even if his baseball prowess and managing skill isn't that of Torre, I think he can still take this team to a Series and win it. (He's done it with a worse team before, albeit not in New York).

The talent on this team is going to be fun to watch. I think we finally have the right mixture of the young, fun-loving, players (Melky, Cano, Gardener, Duncan) and the veterans to lead them. And people like Jeter, Damon, and C.C. who play hard every play and genuinely love the game of baseball are invaluable to a franchise.

Our lineup will be as potent as always and most certainly should produce more this year than last and our rotation is absolutely spectacular on paper with the FIVE man being Andy Pettitte. Crazy.

I'm so excited I'm shaking even now, a month before spring training. I hope, pray, and expect that we take it this year. Let's go Yankees..!..

I mean who can really say they like those flavors? Why do they even make them? it seems pointless to me.

  • Fantasy Playoff Wideouts?

I need two out of three:

    Marques Colston vs. Atl

    Steve Smith vs. TB

    Randy Moss @ Sea

    __________________________________________________

Right now I'm sitting Smith just on a gut feeling that Colston will have another big game with Brees doing so well. Moss is almost a must start at Seattle. Smith has a tough Bucs team and Delhomme has been struggling mightily.

    Any other opinions/advice? thanks

  • What's the difference between the words "thaw", "dethaw", and "unthaw"?

It makes sense that the words dethaw and thaw would literally mean the reverse of thaw which would be to freeze. But they have the same definition. Ant clarification?
