  • Baby (nearly 5 months) has begun waking three/four times a night - help?

My baby is exclusively breast fed. She was waking only once through the night until 3 weeks ago and now is up 3 or 4 times for a feed. We consulted with the doctor who said she is probably going through a growth spurt but not to give her food e.g rice cereal until she is at least 5 1/2 months old. I spoke to a midwife and she said she though our baby was ready for food (along with every other mother we spoke to!) We have been giving her a couple of teaspoons of rice cereal per day mixed with breast milk along with all her normal feedings for the last four days and have seen no improvement in her sleep patterns. (I should add that we tried giving her expressed milk all day including the night to see if she was just snacking at night or for comfort and found she was still consuming the usual amount of milk she drank in a sitting).

I would be grateful if anyone could give us any insight or suggestions to help us get a better night sleep. Thanks

  • Baby seat for a Peugeot 206 cc ?

I'm trying to find if there is a baby seat available for the Peugeot 206 cc (mine is the 2006 model). I need to know if anyone can recommend a car seat to me. I would prefer that you have actually had experience with this car and the baby seat and know for definite that it fits! If anyone can recommend (based on experience) a particular car seat (and hopefully a place to buy it online) I would be very grateful. Thanks

  • What are the essentials I need to buy for a newborn baby (first time mommy)?

Hi, could any experienced parents please help me to decide what to buy in preparation for our new baby. I have looked at the 'what to expect in your first year' and its quite useful. However I would appreciate any advice on clothing, etc, anything you found essential or useful. Thanks!

  • What specifically causes a risk to the fetus if you eat sushi?

I have been doing some research and can not find a plausable reason to why some books state pregnant women shouldnt eat sushi.

I accept that home made sushi due to uncooked fish may cause food poisioning which may make the mother sick, however reputable sushi restuarants usually freeze the freshest fish before hand to kill parasites and chill the fish.

In Japan many doctors actually encourage pregnant women to eat sushi. I actually asked my doctor and he said he didnt know of any parasites that could effect the fetus.

Can anyone give me a sensible scientific or medical reason why sushi should not be eaten when pregnant.

  • Few pregnancy symptoms at 10 weeks - Has anyone else experienced this and had a normal pregnancy?

I am currently 10 weeks pregnant. I have had 2 episodes of vomitting once at 2 weeks and once at 6 weeks with a little nausea. I haven't put on weight or noticed any waistline expansion. I have had very little symptoms since then except for moderately sore breasts and an urge to sleep as soon as I come in from work. I have looked on the internet and found that some people are lucky and don't have sickness, but I am still a little worried. It would help if anyone could tell me about similar experiences. Thanks

  • No missed period, HCG of 250 - how pregnant am I?

I'm wondering if anyone can help with this;last week I was vomiting. I had my period approximately 2 and a half weeks before hand. I did a test to rule out pregnancy, being sure it would be negative - however it was not and neither was the second test!

The doctor confirmed a pregnancy and I had a ultrasound and TVS to see how far along I was. The radiographer couldnt see anything and said that the pregnancy was probably under 4 weeks. A blood test again confirmed the pregnancy one day later with a value of 250. My doctor says this means it is very early with an estimate of 2-3 weeks?. I am still unsure how I have not missed a period and can be 2 or 3 weeks pregnant. The doctor also mentioned there is a chance it may be ectopic but as I have not had any pelvic pain it is difficult to know whats going on. Can anyone enlighten me?
