  • Engine sludge 2003 Lexus LS 430?

My car began blowing white smoke when I started it up - took to dealer for 90K check up (replace timing belt, oil change, etc...) & they told me I had engine sludge & it would cost $3500 to clean & it still may not be totally cleaned. I want to keep my car! I called my mechanic & he suggested I buy a bottle of Rislone & put in the oil - that was a week ago and car is still smoking & putters when i am going up a hill or starting from a stop light...is the engine treatment working? How can I tell if it is? I don't want to burn up my engine - do i go back to dealership to have them clean it? help!!

  • College Savings?

Private school is very expensive & I woulld not be able to afford to contribute to my daughters 529 plan and also private school at the same time (she is in kindergarten) - I'm thinking of buying a house in a very desireable school district, use this address to obtain residency & rent the property for the next 12 years - upon her graduating, then sell the property - hopefully the appreciation in value of the real estate, as well as her 529 would fund her college expenses - Is this a sound financial idea?

  • Elective Lap Band Surgery - BMI 29?

My BMI is only 29 (Must have BMI of 40 to qualify for the procedure) , but I would like to have the lap band surgery..I will be paying for the surgery out of my own pocket - are the BMI minimum numbers to have the surgery written in stone? Or can I choose to have the surgery myself? I'm not morbidly obese, but have been a yo yo dieter for years, and as such my weight has gone up and down since I was a teen - (120 - 180 - 140 - 175 - 130 etc....) I'm looking for a permanent solution...I know my weight flucuations and sometimes accompanying diet pills can't be healthy....currently I am 175 lbs & my height is 5ft 5 1/2 in, and I'm a pretty healthy 39 year old female (do have slightly high blood pressure) .I would like to get to my ideal weight between 125 -130lbs and STAY THERE!

    Your guidance is greatly appreciated!

  • Does anyone here work at one of the credit bureau's? I have a general question..?

I would like to receive an answer from someone who works at one of the bureau's - I had a bad Credit Card that began to show negative on my report in 1998 - on a Credit report dated in 2001 it still showed from the CC with an open date in 1998 - then I pulled a credit report in 2003 & it showed a company called FMS (open date 06/2000) - On last years report it showed that the debt was estimated to fall off in 01/2006) - I pulled my credit report a few days ago & FMS then sold to a new collection agency with an open date on 09/2005 meaning it will stay on there until 2011!!!

I've disputed it with the credit bureau's - & tried to explain what had happened….will they delete off?
