  • 2.5 week old baby - what are these spots?

My newborn has just developed lots of little pinprick sized spots all over his face and upper neck- some are white and some are red. He doesn't seem to be in any pain, and I haven't used anything perfumed or scented to wash him with - do any experienced parents know what this is?

  • What were your feelings when you saw your baby for the first time?

I am due in under two weeks' time, and whilst I am hoping that I will feel a surge of love immediately (I already feel it, but I am scared about what will happen when it all becomes reality) I know that it doesn't happen immediately for everyone. I am really scared that I will feel freaked out or disassociated from this little person. What did you feel the moment your baby was handed to you? Do you have any advice?

  • Do you have any tips on how to clear out clutter?

I have two garages full of junk - well, I think it is, but every time I look at it I get in a terrible state trying to work out what I should keep and what I should get rid of. We lost my mother and father in law and my mother a couple of years ago, so we have loads of stuff from their houses, and now I am 8 months pregnant and desperately need to make some space for baby stuff- but everything seems to have some sort of significance. I would love to have a tidy house and would be grateful for any tips.

  • I am 33 weeks pregnant and have had some light spotting today. Advice please!?

I haven't bled before.Today I had very light spotting, red blood, but hardly noticeable in quantity. I have a low lying placenta and fear I may have been "overdoing it" a bit around the house. Also, we are abroad at the moment.. That said, I went to the local hospital tonight, they examined me and couldn't find any blood or any immediate problems. I am going back tomorrow for a scan. Has anyone else been in this position, and what happened? I can't work out where the blood came from if it didn't come from "inside" - the midwife said she couldn't see anything. Also, I have to work out how/if it is safe to travel back home. All experiences gratefully received.

  • Suggestions for a girls' (1 pregnant) day out in London?

I am meeting two old friends for the day soon - we all live at least 80 miles + or so from each other so tend to meet up in London or M25 area. This time though, I will be 8 months' pregnant and in need of much sitting down, and no traipsing around the shops etc. I thought a spa day would be ideal but they are soo expensive - I don't feel I could ask my friends to pay £100 plus for a day out. Does anyone have any ideas about what we could do, with lots of sitting down, eating and chatting and nothing too exhausting? Thanks

  • DVD recorder (UK) - advice needed?

I want to buy a DVD recorder so that I can move recorded programmes from my sky+ planner to DVD. Do you have any recommendations? The Sky blurb says you can't transfer from sky+ onto DVD in high definition - but is this possible if you have an HD recorder? Or does Sky + block a transfer out in HD? Would you recommend the pricer models with HDMI cables and should I upgrade to blu ray whilst I am at it? Do the cheaper models only record in certain dvd formats (eg dvd + or - only?) thus restricting where you can play it back? We also have an old school dvd player which is part of a good 5.1 surround system and I don't want to lose that yet - can I attach the dvd recorder to sky to take priority over the playback box? Any advice from those who have bought dvd recorders and know a thing or two about them would be invaluable. Thanks!

  • 25 weeks pregnant and bad cold/flu advice please?

I think it is a bit of hayfever and a cold on top - my body aches, I've got a bad headache, sore throat, cough, sneeze - can't get up to do things - and on top of that I am not sleeping well with my bump. I know I am limited in what I can take (ie paracetamol) but it's driving me crazy - does anyone have any advice please?

  • Does your bump move at 24 weeks pregnant?

I am 24 weeks pregnant and until this week was carrying very high. I also have a low lying placenta, and the baby was quite high up. However, this week I have had some back pain (no disturbing cramps or blood loss) and on looking at myself in the mirror realise my bump is now much lower down. Is this normal? I am a bit worried. Could this be because I am growing and my placenta has moved up a bit, giving the baby more room? I have been feeling movements for the first time this week but I think these are harder to detect now the baby is further down - but I still feel the odd movement. I see the midwife in a few days, so obviously will ask then - but as this is my first baby I am not sure about what is normal and what is not. Advice gratefully received
