  • are the police just serial killers in uniform?

Families and friends of those who have died in police custody took part in a silent funeral procession to Downing Street on Saturday to demand justice for their loved ones.

United Friends and Families campaigners carried a coffin bearing the names of relatives who died in police custody, in prisons or in secure psychiatric hospitals.

They stopped outside the gates leading to No 10 where they gave heartfelt speeches in honour of their dead loved ones, chanting "no justice, no peace."

Among those present was Kadisha Brown-Burrell, whose brother Kingsley Burrell died in hospital days after being sectioned under the Mental Health Act when he called police saying he felt threatened by a group of young men.

Stephanie Lightfoot-Bennet, twin sister of Leon Patterson, fought back tears as she said how much she missed her brother who was found dead in a police cell in 1992 after being left naked on a concrete floor with more than 30 injuries for hours before his death.

Marina Schofield said her son Anthony Grainger was shot dead in his car by police who claimed he and two friends were on their way to commit an armed robbery. No guns were found in the car.

The family of Roger Sylvester, a mentally ill black man who died after being detained outside his home in Tottenham by eight police officers, also attended.

Carole Duggan, aunt of Mark whose shooting sparked mass riots across Engand last summer, said: "Our children are still being persecuted and murdered in cold blood by police officers. They are serial killers in uniforms.

"Deaths in custody has got to stop and the buck stops in there," she added pointing to Downing Street.

They handed in a letter for the PM demanding justice and calling for the scrapping of the Independent Police Complaints Commission in favour of a more robust body that could carry out more thorough investigations and punish those responsible for custody deaths.

There are more than 3,000 known names of those who have died in such circumstances since 1969 but no police or prison officers have been convicted.

Campaigners argue there are likely to be thousands more victims.

  • Blind man who was shot with a 50,000-volt Taser stun gun by moronic blood thirsty scum police maggots?

Campaigners warned the government to rethink plans to roll out Taser use today after police hit a 61-year-old blind man with the potentially fatal weapon.

Lancashire police apparently mistook stroke victim Colin Farmer's white stick for a samurai sword last Friday, firing 50,000 volts into his back as he walked to his local pub in Chorley.

Police had received reports of an individual in the area brandishing a sword.

An officer is said to have shouted for Mr Farmer to stop and when he failed to do so discharged the Taser.

The incident comes following a marked increase in Taser use by British police forces and the government plans to extend their use to non-firearms officers.

But Green London Assembly Member Jenny Jones said an urgent review of the plans was required.

"The Metropolitan Police Authority put real restraints on the police use of Tasers as it recognised the danger of every officer being armed in that way.

"Sadly, Metropolitan police commissioner (Bernard) Hogan-Howe has made clear his intention to expand their use, but this case, along with many others, shows the problems of their widespread adoption."

Amnesty International arms programme director Oliver Sprague said the weapons should only be used "in the strictest set of circumstances" involving a threat to life or serious injury.

"It also shows that officers must undergo intensive, rigourous training which takes into account how to respond to people in vulnerable groups, including the visually impaired," he said.

  • so the jews at the bbc and the jew police decided to let jew jimmy saville molest little girls for 40 years?

it seems like all the jews clubbed together to protect their favourite paedophile, we have already seen how 200 police jews freemasons lied and falsified statements to protect other jew policeman after the hillsborough disaster, now it seems that paedophilia as well as murder is swept under the carpet by bbc (and all right wing media) and police forces.

SAVILLE WAS INVESTIGATED OVER ABUSE ALLEGATIONS AT LEAST HALF A DOZEN TIMES OVER SIX DECADES BUT EACH TIME HE EVADED JUSTICE, DATING BACK TO 1958

now we all see the ugly jews on bbc news and think to ourselves " why on earth would someone give a job to this hideously imcomprehensible miserable looking jew" but then you remember that the bbc is owned and run by jews, and all jews get a job for life there, INCLUDING PAEDOPHILE SCUM JEWS LIKE JIMMY SAVILLE ,PROTECTED FROM PROSECUTION BECAUSE OF HIS POWERFUL JEWISH FRIENDS.

WHEN THE JEWS ASK ME FOR MY 140 QUID TV LICENSE, ILL REFUSE AND ILL SAY, " I DONT GIVE MONEY TO PAEDOPHILES AND THEIR PROTECTORS"

  • isnt it interesting how the right wing media is ignoring hugo chavez's historic victory in venezuela?

after hearing and seeing lots and lots in the media about how hugo chavez was going to lose , i am surprised to see the lack of reporting about this historic and magnificent victory.

it seems they dont understand why chavez would want to spend his countries natural wealth to provide houses, education, subsidised essential foods, health care and welfare benefits for the population rather than see oil profits creamed off by a rich oligarchy.

  • kelvin mackenzie ?? your thoughts please (especially scousers)?

Kelvin MacKenzie's attempt to paint himself as a victim rather than accomplice of South Yorkshire Police vilification of Liverpool football fans after the 1989 Hillsborough disaster would have most decent people reaching for the sickbag.

He overruled his editorial staff to impose the headline The Truth. That was his responsibility, not that of the police.

MacKenzie must see a pay day on the horizon. He's already back in the news and copped a fee for writing a self-justification in the Spectator.

Anyone with a modicum of decency would offer the fee to the Hillsborough families, but they'd probably choke on it.

If Murdoch's mouthpiece wants to know what the people of Liverpool think of his latest publicity stunt, he might peruse the local Echo newspaper, which carries readers' comments.

One of the more printable tells him: "Go on, take the police to court if you think any jury in this country would find on your behalf. And a good judge would take you to the cleaners for the costs.

"What part of checking your facts before going to press don't you understand? You're a cretin and I suggest you crawl down some hole and we'll fill it in after you."

It's difficult to add anything to these noble sentiments.

  • are all police rapist murdering corrupt scum? or just most of the filthy maggots?

The police watchdog condemned levels of sexual exploitation and assault of vulnerable individuals by corrupt police officers today as it revealed there have been 54 cases in the last two years alone.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) called for more vetting of officers in specific situations, such as those dealing with vulnerable people, and for a code of conduct to set out the behaviour expected of officers.

In its report Abuse of Police Powers to Perpetrate Sexual Violence the IPCC found 54 cases of officers or staff trying to form sexual relationships with people they ought to have been helping between April 2009 and March last year in England and Wales.

It went on: "There is no evidence to suggest it is commonplace, but nor can we be confident that all such cases are reported.

"There are considerable inconsistencies in the referral of corruption cases in general to the IPCC by different police forces. It is therefore possible that the true figure is higher."

Allegations about colleagues were excluded from the figure, as were complaints after a police search in custody, it said.

The report comes after a Northumbria police officer was jailed for life for raping and sexually assaulting vulnerable women last year.

Stephen Mitchell was ordered to serve two life sentences and warned he might never be freed from prison by a judge at Newcastle Crown Court.

Mitchell, formerly of Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, raped and sexually abused female heroin addicts, shoplifters and a disabled teenager by offering them help while in custody, then demanding sexual favours afterwards.

The cases studied by the watchdog also included one involving an officer who was accused of rape by a woman with mental health problems, who had called for help as she felt suicidal.

Another officer was sacked after using the police national computer to carry out 176 unauthorised checks on women over three years.

IPCC chairwoman Dame Anne Owers said: "The abuse of police powers for purposes of sexual exploitation, or even violence, is something that fundamentally betrays the trust that communities and individuals place in the police.

"It therefore has a serious impact on the public's confidence in individual officers and the service in general."
