1 AnswerAbuse and Spam8 years agoHow many of you religious people watched Pastor Rick Warren 'Civil Forum' last night?
Did any of you religious people watched Pastor Rick Warren civil forum last night? Which question/answer impressed you the most? I watched out of curiosity so see how far Pastor Warren was going push the evangelical agenda. I believe in the separation of church and state and feel this forum was unnecessary. How do you feel about the whole 'show'?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoThis is about cloned meat?
Does anyone know why they (whoever) have to clone the animals (cows) that will ultimately produce the meat we eat? Can anyone explain this process to me? Who is going to take the eggs from the cow to be fertilized in a lab? A scientist or a farmer? How many labs and scientists will be needed to fertize all the eggs needed to start mass production of the clones? Who is going to go the farms to individually impregnate the remaining real cows with the eggs that were previously fertilized in the lab? A scientist or the farmer? Can they (whoever) guarantee that all the cows will get pregnant?
Whatever happened to genetic diversity? What is going to happen when we end up with a genetic pool of clones? Will the 'real cows' disappear? I am asking all these questions because it appears to me this process has to be much more expensive than the 'good ol' fashion way'..This sounds outrageous to me even more so when the government will not even tell us if we are eating a real cow or a clone.
2 AnswersBiology1 decade agoI'm feeling lazy too, about sin?
Can anyone do a research about the origins of the concept of sin? I do not want the Judeo-Christian account or version, I know that one. I want to find out if the concept of 'sin' exists in any other ancient religions prior to the Abrahamic religion.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoOrgan donor question to all?
Just heard in the news about proposed changes in the UK's organ donor system . How many of you in R&S are organ donors? What are your arguments in favor or against donating your organs?
If you are in favor is your argument religious, moral, altruistic, totally logical?
The same if you are against, is your argument strictly religious, do you consider it immoral or a desecration of the body, do you consider it illogical and useless because people have to die anyway?
23 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoQuestion about the Trinity, serious answers only?
I'm not a Catholic, however on Christmas Eve I was invited to a midnight mass and the priest greatly impressed me with his message. He spoke about the mystery of the Trinity and he mentioned that in the early years of the Church the Greeks defined the Trinity with a word which meant 'the eternal merry-go-round', does anyone know what this greek word is? Serious answers please.
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAtheists and Christians, question about the movie Iam Legend?
I just finished reading the book I am Legend the day before I went to the see the movie. How many of you have read the book? Just for entertainment's sake I was happy to overlook the discrepancies between the book and the movie, such as that Neville was not a scientist in the book, Neville didn't have a dog in the book, Neville didn't find the antidote in the book. But I was not ready for the overtly explicit Christian message at the end of the movie. So at the end we find out that God allowed Anna to hear Neville's message over the radio, that God directed her to find Neville, that God allowed Neville to find the antidote, that it was God's plan for Anna to take the antidote to the survivor's colony. Let me know how you feel only if you have watched the movie. I am still in shock!
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHas anyone read the book 'Eat, Love, Pray'?
After all the hype about this book I finally bought it and halfway through the book and Iam having to force myself to continue reading. I honestly think the author has lost her mind. She starts a 'spiritual journey' in Italy and eats like a pig for four months. Then she continues to India where all she does is meditate and dream about her ex-boyfriend for four months. I don't know if I will make it through the next four months of her 'journey'. And then I saw her at Oprah and all the women at the show talking about how inspirational the book is, and I asked myself what about the men? Is this 'inspiration' only for women? How many men have read this book? Opinions, please help me finish this 'nightmarish journey'!!
3 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoA question about the UK ?
Somebody sent an e mail several months ago saying that in Great Britain they will remove the Holocaust account from history books in schools and universities to prevent the resurgence of antisemitism. There was no date on the 'alleged' news release and I have unable to unable to find any information on the internet. Has anyone heard of this?
2 AnswersOther - News & Events1 decade agoNursing Home question?
I would like to know how many readers have had a relative pass away in a nursing home. A few months ago I had a relative pass away in a nursing home. Funeral arrangements had been made but to make a story short it took the funeral home four hours to pick up the body. I asked the nursing home if they had a room reserved to place a deceased person until the funeral home arrived. I was shocked when they told me they didn't have any place to put the body. Because of privacy 'issues' they were also not allowed to tell my relative's roommate about the death so I had to inform this other lady there was a dead body in the room. After four hours flies were buzzing around the room. It was a horrible experience. For the past three days I have been calling different elder affairs agencies to complain about this. I get recordings all the time saying they will call me back. Aren't nursing homes required to have a special room for situations like this?

9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHanukkah question for practicing Jews only. Serious answers please.?
I have placed a menorah on a window sill and it can be seen by passerbys on the outside. When I lit up the shamash and the first candle to the left of the shamash the people outside will see the first candle to the right of the shamash lit up. Is that correct?
5 AnswersHanukkah1 decade agoChristians, why is Santa Claus the person to bring presents for 'Christmas'?
According to the Bible it was the 'Three Wise Men' who followed the Star and brought presents to the Child born, then why do you completely ignore the narrative in the Bible and prefer to embrace the Santa Claus figure? The Three Wise Men would make 'Christmas' more 'Christian-like'.
