Can Liberals and Conservatives agree on the 28th Amendment?
Proposed 28th AMENDMENT TO THE U.S. CONSTITUTION
"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States."
An idea whose time has come
For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.
The answers from both sides should be interesting.

The Federal Reserve Transparency Act has been introduced into Congress by Congressman from Texas, Ron Paul. He has already found 28 Co-Sponsors for this historic legislation. If your Congressman or Congresswoman will not support this Bill, ask them for a detailed, logical explanation. The Fed. has been accountable to no one for 96 years. Here's a list of the Bill's Co-Sponsors. If your Representative is on the list, they are heroic, and deserve your thanks. If they are not on it yet, ask them why, and demand they actually give you an answer.

8 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWho's telling the truth; Japanese scientists, or Al Gore?
As our Democrat President and Democrat Congress prepare to break the back of the American middle class with one or more forms of carbon tax, (that will radically increase the cost of energy and radically decrease our level of prosperity), comes even more evidence that the global warming threat doesn't even exist.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/02/25/jstor_clim...
In fact, each day, more scientists go public with their concern that the earth is actually cooling, and has been for the past decade.
http://www.odu.edu/ao/instadv/quest/Greenhouse.htm...
I contend that the threat of global warming has been "made up" in order to justify the leveling of the economic playing field between "have" and "have not" nations, and to personally enrich the bank accounts of elitists on both sides of the imaginary "political aisle".
Our economy is already in a state of collapse: Are you willing to pay double, triple, or more, for the price of cool, heat, and transportation, when it is likely that the threat isn't even real???
11 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoDoes it seem to you that the political left favors limiting freedom of speech?
Seems to me they do. I suspect Yahoo does it on this very venue. It appears that, perhaps, drawing a connection between certain politicians and the word "Communist", or "Marxist" can cause a question to be either removed, or displayed only to the "asker's" contact group. Nothing mean or reckless, just honest comparisons of stated policy compared to the Communist Mannifesto, and backed up with a a link to an ABC News story. If I'm incorrect in this, may Yahoo forgive me and not send men to knock on my door at 3 a.m. To understand the last sentence, read something by Solzhenitsyn.
As well; for thirty five years I held the distinction of having every single letter to my local newspaper (city of 150,000) printed on their Editorial page. My streak ended however when I pointed out some of the stated policies of a certain Presidential candidate and those same ideas stated as the means to an end in that popular book by a guy named Marx. Repeated submissions after rewording didn't help. Seems the one thing I wouldn't change in this letter was the link between the candidate's policies and Marxism.
We seem to be free to say most anything; except that.
I think the left doesn't like for this to be brought out into the open.
Anyone else notice this? Agree? Disagree?
3 AnswersCivic Participation1 decade agoOh; here it is, is this the "change" we wanted?
Here's a link to a very revealing interview of President Elect, Obama, by former Clinton staffer, George Stephanopoulos.
http://blogs.abcnews.com/george/2009/01/obama-call...
There are some interesting revelations here, especially this question from Stephanopoulos, and Obama's simple answer, "Yes". The question was: "That you have tax reform, healthcare reform, entitlement reform including Social Security and Medicare, where everybody in the country is going to have to sacrifice something, accept change for the greater good?"
"For the greater good?" Hey, I know who wrote that, it was Marx.
So here you have it, the meaning of "change". It means what it has historically meant throughout the world's horrid history of Marxism. It means a transfer of wealth from the middle class to the Elite rulers. It means two classes, the ruling Party Elite, and the peasants. "Fair", we are told, because "everyone" is equal.
Since leftists FDR and LBJ introduced welfare-ism to America; DC has become a giant cesspool sucking down our tax dollars into a void that has produced nothing but a dependent class, the destruction of our culture, and a debt that cannot be repaid without the total sacrifice of our freedom and prosperity.
You leftists gleefully elected a man who's never earned a non-governmental salary competing in an open market. How much of his 400k salary will he be "sacrificing"? Why doesn't he "sacrifice" his self-adulating 50 million dollar inauguration ceremony, take the oath quietly on the steps of the Capitol building, give a speech, and use the difference to pay for health care for one year, for over 20,000 Americans?
Do you lefties understand that deficit spending by Democrats and Republicans caused our economic catastrophe? Do you realize that Obama's remedy is to repeat, times three, in one year, what brought us to ruin over the last sixty years? Its like thinking that the anti-dote to a cobra's bite is three more cobra bites.
By the way; to date, "W" has been the worst President in American history, and yes, McCain was just as bad a choice as Obama. The "two Party system" is an illusion.

To a constant flurry of thumbs down; throughout the election campaign I kept making the point that there IS NO TWO PARTY SYSTEM. "Change", could only have come through a THIRD PARTY candidate.
You voted control of both chambers of Congress to the Democrats in '06 because you hated the war and the Patriot Act. What happened? We still have the war and the Patriot Act. Seems that taking away our Fourth Amendment rights is only a good thing if Democrats are in charge; right? Continuing the War in Iraq is only a good thing if Democrats are in charge; right? Expanding the War in Afghanistan is only a good thing if Democrats are in charge; right?
Wait until the military draft is resurrected. Boy, remember how all of you peace-nik Democrats hated the draft during Viet Nam? But - - - gee; Obama's draft will be a good thing; right?
There will be no change as long as the Republicrat / Demopublicans are in charge. Think about it - - - - why is there really no change. Here's why - - - - the two parties are a delusion; you think you voted the bums out, but nothing really changes because the bums are still in power. This is a trick, designed into the system. For gosh sakes - - - think. I'm just pointing out the facts in hope that we will do better in 2012; if, by then, we are allowed to vote at all.
16 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs this what we wanted when we voted?
I think Obama voters will eventually fall into three categories. They are:
1. I know he is a Marxist and think that the Communist model of government works best.
2. He is not a Marxist, but I'll love him whatever he turns out to be.
3. I don't think he is a Marxist, and I'll be bitterly disappointed if I find out that he is leading us down that path.
Which are you?

17 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhy isn't the Patriot Act an election issue?
The Patriot Act, championed by President Bush effectively ended our Constitutional rights under the 4th and 6th Amendments. The Democrat Party, and a few Republicans like Ron Paul objected to the Patriot Act and voted against it. During the 2006 election campaign, the Democrats promised to overturn the Patriot Act and restore our rights. Now, two years after winning both Senate and House majorities, the Democrats have never even mentioned it again. My guess is our new President Obama will be pleased to have the legal right to search and seize the property of every American (ask Joe the Plumber), and then arrest them and hold them without charges, indefinitely.
During the coming Obama Presidency; you Republicans will rue the day you thought the Patriot Act was a good idea. This is your reward for having no principles.
Democrats: Why aren't you screaming to get our Constitutional Rights back? Mmmmmm? I'm guessing, no principles.
Don't any of you Obama / McCain zealots get it yet? They are one NWO Party, dedicated to taking away all of our rights, once granted to us under our Constitution..
5 AnswersElections1 decade agoDo we have a two Party political system in America?
No, we do not; we have a one Party system. The evidence of this is overwhelming. Americans get so worked up over throwing the other bums out, that the real issues that need to be addressed, are overlooked entirely; and that is the purpose of the "Two Party Illusion."
Challenge: Look at the links. Here's a quote you should find interesting. If you are sincere in your question, then followup on this quote:
"The two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can 'throw the rascals out' at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shift in policy." Quote by Georgetown Professor, Carroll Quigley from his book "Tragedy and Hope" referring to the secret network that started the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), America's true ruling establishment

Addressing a large crowd behind a podium with a Nation of Islam Saviour's Day 2008 sign, Farrakhan proclaims,
"You are the instruments that God is going to use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth. And he has involved young people in a political process that they didn't care anything about. That's a sign. When the Messiah speaks, the youth will hear, and the Messiah is absolutely speaking."

15 AnswersElections1 decade agoWill you waste your vote on Nov. 4th?
I’ve voted in every Presidential election since 1968. My desire to get out of bed early to go to the polls on the way to work, was driven by my desire to live in a nation that will continue to grant my personal, individual freedom through the authority of our nation’s Constitution.
This November 4th, things will be different for me personally. I can now clearly see that no one in the either of the major Parties has any love of freedom, prosperity, or capitalism. As well, neither Party has any respect for our Constitution.
Ten times, I have wasted my vote in the Presidential election just as sure as a citizen in a dictatorship wastes his vote every time he votes for the only candidate on the ballot. We do not have a two Party system, only the facade of one used to divide us.
Will you waste your vote on them again? Vote Third Party.
7 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs our Republic still intact?
I don't think that it is. We live in a representative Republic. If so, should 97% of the Representatives vote against the clear wishes of 97% of their constituents?
It appears that, phone calls, e-mails, faxes, and letters; are running 34 to 1, that is 97%, against any form of bailout of the guilty financial institutions and borrowers. However, it also appears that approximately 97% of the House, save for a couple of fine Americans, one of which is Ron Paul, are "blowing off" the opinions of the people they represent and are going to do the dirty deed anyway.
Looks like my Congressman, and both of my GA Senators are in the tank.
What do you think we should do?
5 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoDo you know that your rights under the Constitution will be lost when the "Bailout" package passes?
Here's the truth that the media isn't telling you. This is the most sinister act in American history. Don't let them do it!! We don't need the bailout!
Quotes below were furnished by the Libertarian Party:
Section 8 of Treasury Secretary Paulson’s proposal states “Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.”
Stop and re-read that sentence. It gives the Treasury Secretary unlimited power to do whatever he wants, without fear of a court looking over his shoulder. Because it violates the Rule Of Law by prohibiting judicial review, it gives the Treasury Secretary permission to ignore the US Constitution. The limitation implied by “pursuant to the authority of this Act” is a sham, because no court will be permitted to dispute the Secretary’s idea of what that phrase means. At the least, the US Government will be able to seize private property without just compensation. At the worst it permits suspension of all civil rights, including the ability to speak out against the act once it is enacted. There is no limit to the authority given the Treasury Secretary in this proposal.
Another part of Secretary Paulson’s proposal nationalizes the American financial sector. This is not hyperbole. Section 2(b)(3) authorizes the Treasury Secretary to be “designating financial institutions as financial agents of the Government, and they shall perform all such reasonable duties related to this Act as financial agents of the Government as may be required of them.” The word “reasonable” is designed to calm people’s fears, but it will not limit government action in the least. The word will mean anything the Secretary says it does, because courts will not be permitted to question his definition. This section gives the Treasury Secretary dictatorial power over all financial institutions.
Section 9 is a sunset provision. I expect it will be as effective as those in the Patriot Act were.
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoAre Environmental issues exclusively for the purpose of crippling America?
Environmentalism is the direct cause of our dependence on foreign oil and $4 / gas. Environmental groups sue oil exploration companies at every drill site and cause a two year process to take ten years. Further, Americans are constantly losing the individual rights to use their own property as they see fit due to a U.N. Treaty called Agenda 21 (look it up). Even the border fence, mandated by Congress, vital to our security, was held up because environmentalists sued over a miniscule amount of habitat for some breed of cat. Global Elitists are behind all of these efforts.
Global Elitists are pushing for a “Trans America Corridor”. This is a planned multi-lane international freeway from the Mexican border in Texas, to our border with Canada in the north. The highway is planned to be at least 1,300 feet wide, and will be approximately 1,500 miles long. Mmmm, let’s do the math. That works out to be somewhere near ONE QUARTER MILLION SQUARE ACRES.
Global Elitists (all of the Democrats and the “Bush” wing of the Republican Party) get what they want. If they want to stifle our energy production, bring on the screaming Environmentalists. If they want to destroy American sovereignty with open borders and an International Highway, Environmentalists say NOTHING about a 250,000 square acres slab of concrete.
Why is this not the biggest Environmental issue in history? Connect the dots.

5 AnswersConservation1 decade agoThe Climate Catastrophe has been canceled. Can we relax now? ?
Sometimes it isn't easy to give up a cherished belief system. However; paying global taxes, paying for carbon credits, giving up air conditioning, abundant food, as well as the privacy of traveling in our own automobiles, is just too doggone much for the rest of us to have to pay in order to indulge a group of liberal politicians and pop-culture types in a solution to a non-existent problem. (Yup, that was a "run-on" sentence, but I liked it.) Since this issue is vital to our future; please invest 10 minutes of your life in this video. Thanks.
5 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoIf someone convinced you that global warming is really no threat; would you be relieved, or disappointed?
Advocates of carbon credits, global taxes, and a radically reduced standard of living; appear to avoid public debate with the scientific community by claiming the matter is already settled. Americans are divided 50 / 50 on this issue. I find that believers have no interest in hearing from thousands of scientists who think otherwise. Why is that? Is it because this isn't about climate change at all? I think it is more about social and economic change. Here's a great link. What do you think? http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2008/03...
21 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoWhy was the story on the Columbia University developed CO2 Scrubber buried by the Mainstream Media?
This very plausible solution to the dubious problem of man-made global warming was quickly buried when Environmentalists objected to the technology on the basis that it would not end our use of fossil fuels. Wait a minute; I thought we were seeking an end to using fossil fuels because they add to greenhouse gases?
A careful look at this story and the reactions from both the media and the caring environmentalists; provide proof positive that Global Warming and Environmentalism have everything to do with political control over your life, and nothing to do with the environment.
Believers in GW, the ones who label skeptics as "Deniers", aren't at all interested in facts and science; only the defense of their "Political Position / Religion".
