  • Touching face, does your baby do this?

I just think it's adorable that when I'm feeding my baby her bottle, she feels it very necessary to touch my face and keep her hand there (my nose, chin, cheek...). It's almost a calming thing for her. Even if she's fallen asleep during her feeding, she'll still reach out her hand to feel my face. I absolutely love it! Is this a common thing for a baby to do?

  • What age did your baby start to giggle?

My baby is 5 months old, and is a very happy baby! She smiles constantly (when she's not teething). But, we haven't heard those adorable baby giggles yet. She sort of laughs by sucking in the air, but doesn't laugh out yet. I know every baby is different, but I was wondering if anyone else had a baby who was 5 months or older before the giggling started?

  • What is appropriate in this situation?

A co-worker/friend of mine just had a miscarriage after 4 months of pregnancy. We want to be sensitive to her needs right now, and we are not sure what is appropriate in showing her our sympathies. Should we as a company send her flowers? Or is there something else we could offer her to show our sincere sympathies? Also, she is from the Phillipines, and we aren't sure as far as culturally what might or might not be appropriate. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you!

  • Ideas for give-aways at a conference?

I have been put in charge of ordering give-aways for a conference being held for CEO's. We don't want to give stress balls, pens, etc. We want to give something useful. A colleague of mine suggested corkscrew/bottle openers with our company logo on it. Does anyone else have some nice give away ideas? Any help would be great! Thank you!

  • How to organize my mail and paper work?

I like to keep a clean and tidy home, but in order to keep it that way, I end up shoving things I don't want seen in empty drawers (actually, I don't have empty drawers anymore, they're all totally full), and boxes which end up cluttering my closets. What do you do when organizing your paid bills, and other paperwork that just seem to pile up. Right now I have piles of papers on my kitchen table and it's driving me insane! I've organized using a file box, and now that's full. I need organizing tips that work for a busy, working mom who doesn't have time to file! Any tips?

  • Having a hard time falling asleep?

I had a baby, and now she's 7 weeks old and is sleeping great through the night! But, now I'm back to work, and need to get up early, but I can't fall asleep. I think I'm still used to getting up and anticipating waking up with the baby. It takes me hours to fall asleep, and then I wake up somewhere in the middle, and have a hard time going back to sleep. I toss and turn, and my brain is racing with things I need to do, and just various things. I'm not depressed...but I really need to get a good night's rest, or else I'm going to get sick! I tried taking Valerian root, but it's not really doing anything for me. Does anyone have any other suggestion for some sort of sleep aid pills or something?

  • Whats up with my 6 weeks old's nap times?

My daughter was doing great and getting into a routine. I'd feed her, and then an hour later she'd go down for a nap, and she'd sleep for about 1.5 to 2 hours until her next feeding. She has been on a 3 to 3.5hr schedule for feeding. Now, she's waking up 20 minutes into her nap and it seems like she's hungry again, when it's only been about an hour and a half since she last ate. I understand babies go through growth spurts, and that she probably needs more to eat....but the problem is, she won't take more food when I try to give her more, and instead she just wants to eat more often. I hope I'm making sense. I'm just wondering how to give her more food, and spread it out, instead of feeding her every hour and a half to 2 hours. Any idea how I can achieve this?

  • Anyone know how to help relieve PUPPP?

I went to the doctor's today, and found out that I have PUPPP. All she recommended was to take Benadryl. The itching started about a week ago...and it's so bad!! I itch ALL over. I have tried oils, creams, calamine lotion, oatmeal baths, corn starch, and using my frozen vegatables to help cool the itch. These things help for a little bit...but I can't take frozen veggies with me to work! :) Has anyone who has experienced PUPPP found anything that really does the trick or am I really stuck in this itching misery until after I deliever???

  • What did you do to keep sane while waiting for your baby to be born?!?

I have just a few more weeks until my due date, but I'm just at the point, where I just don't want to be pregnant anymore! With all the pains, swelling, being hot all the time, crazy itchy belly, being tired, can't focus on work at ALL. I think I'm starting to go crazy! What did you do to keep your mind sane while you were waiting for the day your baby finally decided to come into the world?

  • Exteme itchiness and stretch marks?

I am 34 weeks pregnant...and in the last few weeks have started to form stretch marks. I know this is normal, and I know they can be itchy....but I am EXTREMELY itchy! I am so itchy that the feeling wakes me up in the middle of the night. I'm afraid that I am scratching so much that I am going to break through the skin. Is this normal? I have lotions for itchy skin, and it soothes for a few minutes. But, if anyone knows how to relieve this itchiness with any other techniques, please let me know. Thanks! :)

  • Baby hiccups?

I'm 31 weeks pregnant (not quite sure if that matters), but I find that my baby on average hiccups about 3 times every day. Is that normal or too much? I just feel so bad everytime she gets them...I wish there was something I could do.

  • question about convertable cribs?

I haven't had a chance to go out and check this out for myself yet, but if anyone has a convertable crib, could you please tell me if as a crib, does the side come down easily, just like a normal crib? My mom seems to think it's just a small opening that allows you to reach for your baby, rather than the entire side sliding down for easy access. How exactly does the crib part work, and are these types of cribs worth it?

  • Anyone else get kind of nervous when naming your baby?

I have had my baby's name picked out long before we even knew what we were having. I had people give me personalized things made with my baby's name on it. I absolutely love the name, and don't plan on changing it. But, does anyone else just kind of get a little nervous and think "what if I don't end up liking this name later on?" This is going to be my child's identity! All because her father and I picked it out. Wow, what a huge decision! :)

  • What to do when someone is having an anxiety attack?

My husband and I run a youth program, and last night one of the teens had an anxiety attack. She's been seen by the doctor and has been given meds, but she's been having them more frequently. I've never experienced someone having an anxiety attack before, so I don't know much about the problem. She was breathing very hard, and I am assuming it was making her body weak, because she needed help walking to the car, and she was either passing out, or trying to rest her eyes and head...but every time she did, her breathing would stop. I had to keep snapping her back to consciousness. So, I guess my question is...aside from bringing her to the hospital, was there anything else I could have done to try to calm her down (for future reference)? And also, what exactly causes anxiety attacks (I would just like to get a better understanding)?

  • Movement when having contractions?

My friend started having some contractions today, and they've been going on all throughout the day. She is 37 weeks, and she hasn't felt her baby move at all in the last hour and a half. Is this normal? She is on her way to the hospital, but she's very worried, and now she's making me worried. Do you remember feeling movement during your contractions before going into labor?

  • A small gift can I give a co-worker who is leaving the company?

There's a girl who has only worked with us in our office for about 7 months, and every one of us have enjoyed having her here. She is leaving because she found a job more in line with what she went to school for, and I will be sad to see her go, but am very happy for her! I want to get her a little farewell gift. What would be an appropriate gift to give a co-worker who is leaving? She is in her early 20's.

  • Cigarette smoke from neighbor's apt. ?

Is there some kind of air filter device that can help purify the air in my apartment? It seems that the only rooms I can smell the smoke from my neighbor's apartment downstairs is in the bedrooms, but the smoke is so much that I can actually smell it on my clothes! I am also 7 mos. pregnant and don't want my baby to breath in this smoke when she's born. I live in a very expensive area, and can't afford to leave this apartment at this time, so I am just wondering if there is some kind of device that can help purify the air in my apartment, or at least in the baby's room?

  • Questions about the Dyson DC14 Animal HEPA Vacuum?

I am thinking about buying this vacuum to suck up all the cat hair from my furniture. I'd like to know if it's worth the $500+ and also if this product works well on hard wood floors. I've heard how well it works on carpet, but does it clean easily on a hard wood floor as well?
