  • Harry Potter Nextgen Question?

Does J.K. Rowling ever mention the fates of the next generation? I've heard some stories, but the sources I've heard it from are unreliable, and I've spent some time exploring interview transcripts and the J.K. Rowling Web site, but I haven't found anything.

I'm not trying to be obsessive or anything. I just heard some rumors that sounded disturbingly like fanfiction, so I wanted to make sure they weren't true.

  • She Threatened To Leave?

Here's what I heard, and I need someone to help me understand if it's just letting out some extreme frustration or an actual suggestion.

My parents were fighting earlier today, and my dad said, "Things go so much smoother when you're not around!"

Later, my mom replied, "If you're insinuating that I should leave, I can do that! Is that what you want?"

I walked into the room, and it made my mom stop talking about leaving, but it gave my dad more to say. "I know it, even your kids know it..." blah blah about her faults.

Does my dad want my mom to leave? Does my mom want to leave?

And I know every kid says this, but I think that I am part of the problem. Some of the things my mom brought up that she blamed on my dad were actually my fault. I know it's a personality thing that they both have to come to terms with, but the stuff I did/didn't do isn't helping either one of them.

    Please answer.

  • Recipes for a 14-year-old?

I'm 14 years old, and I make dinner for my family on a regular basis because I got tired of the same old recipes. Now, however, school has started, and I have homework, so I need to be able to pull something together in 30-45 minutes OR LESS.

My problem is that I can't seem to find good recipes that are quick. I enjoy using fresh produce and all-natural ingredients, but the recession we're in is preventing me from having access to much of what I want.

I need new recipes, low-calorie and high-nutrition (my mother is on a diet, and I want to eat healthy), big on taste, and summery (seriously, it was freezing all throughout August, and now we've got hundred-degree heat. What's with that?). All canned beans, vegetables, etc. are in, I am open to any fish recipes (excluding cod or any expensive fish), and the only thing I absolutely will not use is Velveeta.

  • What does "divine revelation" mean?

I'm (re-)writing a thesis on the five major world religions, and a website I visited mentioned that the Jewish view of the role of God in salvation is "divine revelation and forgiveness." I think I understand what the "forgiveness" part was referring to (unless there's some underlying philosophical, grammatical, or otherwise thing I'm somehow missing), but I'm not certain what divine revelation means.

Please only give me facts and a definition. Religious beliefs do not count as facts unless they give me an understanding of the belief. Example: "God will give us all divine revelation and (insert long useless religious rant here)." Please only give me something that will help me with my research.

  • What is the focus of Judaism?

I'm doing a paper on the five major world religions, and I'd like a brief description of the focus of Judaism. For example, Buddhists meditate and follow the Eightfold Noble Path to liberate themselves from suffering in life on Earth, and Christians aspire to go to heaven after life on Earth. What (and where) is the focus of Judaism?

  • SparkPeople and SparkTeens!?

I advertised this so much in the past hour and a half, I think I'd better just dedicate an entire question to it. It's not really a question.

SparkPeople and SparkTeens, found at http://www.sparkpeople.com/ and http://www.sparkteens.com/ are sister Web sites which help adults and teens achieve healthier weights and get in shape. It's not a diet; it's a lifestyle change.

So, here's the deal. You sign up, and you get a personalized nutrition plan. Eat what you want, and enter it into the Nutrition Tracker, which has over 10,000 foods listed in its database. You will get an estimate of how many calories, carbs, fats, and protein you've consumed during the day, along with other things such as iron, fiber, and sodium. There is also a Fitness Tracker for your calories burned, and message boards for support and advice from the Spark experts.

So, here's my question, I suppose. Would you like to help me spread the Spark?

  • Attention All FEMALE TEENAGE DIETERS!?

Hopefully, if you're reading this, you are a girl, an adolescent, and on a diet or thinking about going on a diet. If you're not, I think you may be pretty bored reading this.

So, girlies. Thought about going on that 3-day diet? Maybe you'll just reduce your calorie intake to 700 a day, and up the exercise. Want to go on that new diet everyone says works? Well, let me tell you something, honey. IT DOESN'T.

Achieving healthy, slow weight loss is about a complete lifestyle turnaround. No fad diet or starvation period is going to help you lose weight for good. To lose weight, follow this simple equation. Calories out > Calories in. See? Easy.

Your body burns about 1300 calories just existing. Add to that the "daily grind," and you've probably already burned around 1600 calories. Check out http://www.sparkteens.com/ for articles, nutrition plans, and tips for HEALTHY weight loss.

Yes or no: Would you like to lose weight and keep it off?

Who's your favorite Death Note character M/F? My favorite male character is Mello, though Near comes in at a VERY close second (they're almost interchangeable. Almost.), and my favorite female character is Misora-san.

  • Judaism's Rise to Power?

How did Judaism rise to power? I'm doing a summer assignment for Honors World History on the origins of the five major religions and how they came to be major religions, and I need to know how Judaism got to be so big.

For example: Christianity only became popular when Constantine converted. Buddhism only became popular when King Asoka converted. Islam only came to power when some political thing that I forgot but will look up again happened. I don't know anything about Hinduism or Judaism.

    So...Judaism's rise to power?

  • Gay Marriage?

What are your thoughts on gay marriage? Should it be allowed? Should it be banned? Should sexual orientation matter in these contracts? Is being gay a sin, or should it be accepted openly into society?

Personally, I am all for gay marriage and am ecstatic that it is now legal in California. No rudeness, please. This stuff is touchy, and some people have strong beliefs. I respect that. Don't insult MY belief, or anybody else's, and don't give reasons why another belief is wrong.

  • What do you believe happens in the afterlife?

I don't just want Christians preaching about God and Jesus and how if you believe in God you're going to heaven, and if you don't you rot in hell. I want variety, something OTHER than your stereotypical "ZOMGIT'SHEAVEN" reply.

No snobbishness, either. No "this is the way it is and the rest of you who don't believe it's THIS way can all go screw yourselves because you're DEAD WRONG." Please. Don't be an @$$hole.

Actually, if you believe in God and heaven and all that jazz, don't reply. I know that belief. I want to see other, unique beliefs. I want people who think outside the box (or book, as it may be). I want to hear from the people who aren't quite sure, and I want a kind of debate, if you will. Not a "I'm right, you're wrong, here's why" kind of debate, but just...I don't know. Give me your answers, but don't preach to me. Or anybody else. Because I've heard it enough times from everybody else who's just like you.

  • Man, That Sugar Is Sweet?

    ...Man...that sugar is...sweet!

So, who liked the movie 21? Anyone going to practice counting cards? I know I sure am. I personally liked the book better than the movie, but I appreciate that they didn't attempt to follow the book's storyline, because that would've been disastrous. Any thoughts on the movie?

  • Cosplay Diet?

Okay, so on Aprile 20th, I'm going to a cosplay parade called the Cherry Blossom Festival. That's irrelevant (except the date). My character is extremely skinny and anorexic-looking (more so than other anime characters). Unfortunately, I'm at a healthy weight. This means that to get in character, I have to drop off a few pounds, at least.

I'm doing this for my own amusement, but still. It's important to me. Don't go giving me that "You're NOT fat" crap, because I know I'm not fat. I'm 5'2", and 111 lbs. I also happen to be a teenager, and teens tend to act rather impusively. I've been on a crash diet since the 3rd, and it's working, but I want to know if there's a better way. I want to be efficient with my L ritual.
