Kathryn™
I am an "evangelical" atheist; evangelical in the sense of having an ardent or zealous enthusiasm for a cause. My cause is to bring science and reason to the forefront of people's thought processes. I hope to do this by encouraging others to read, study and to share ideas which may challenge their present "truths". My goals in this are to encourage scientific inquiry, as well as to protect our separation of church and state affairs. I know that as an atheist, I am part of an unpopular minority. So be it. As Popeye so eloquently said, "I yam what I yam."
Do you think that Jesus suffered terribly?
Compare "the passion" with this crime, the rape and murder of this man's wife and two young daughters. What about the suffering that the husband is going to have to live with for the rest of his life? I think Jesus got off pretty easily.
Your thoughts?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoGod wants to make himself known, right?
Then why make it IMPOSSIBLE for so many to know him? Free will doesn't explain why the aboriginal people in New Zealand don't believe in God. Why didn't God make himself known to the Native Americans until the Christian settlers arrived and showed them their brand of Christian "love"?
Please be logical in your answer and refrain from biblical quotes. I have already read the Bible. If your only answer is, "God works in mysterious ways," then don't bother.
35 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo you agree or disagree with this quote?
Man's inhumanity to man will continue as long as man loves God more than he loves his fellow man. Joseph Lewis (1889-1968)

With no medical treatment whatsoever?
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat does the phrase "Christian values" mean to you?
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoExplain this too me as if I'm stupid - How is this "not for religious reasons" if Hindus are specified?
Hindu widows are shunned from society when their husbands die, not for religious reasons, but because of tradition -- and because they're seen as a financial drain on their families.

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI asked Mom about being born-again?
She said there was no possible way I was gonna fit back in there, and that I was born right the first time anyway. What do I do now?
19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoA challenge for theists - Pascal's Wager in reverse?
Try this:
1. Read the God Delusion by Dawkins, The Demon-Haunted World by Sagan and Atheist Universe by Mills
2. Read the Old Testament
3. Study everything you can about evolution and physics
4. Go to the web-site called the Skeptics Annotated Bible
What do you have to lose? Is anyone willing to take the challenge?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCurious here - how many are home-schooling or are home-schooled and what is your religion?
or philosophical belief?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoRegarding the question about an atheist teacher?
My word, people, I am an atheist and a former teacher (currently a private tutor.)
I was just curious as to what others thought and I wondered if there were parents who would have their child removed from the class. Geesh, no need to get your panties all up in a bunch.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf you found out by chance that your child's teacher was an atheist?
Would you take any sort of action? If so, what would you do?
Important - remember that you just found this out by chance; the teacher made no mention of this in the school setting.
50 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes everything really have a purpose?
Are you able to name anything that has no purpose?
21 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI challenge you to answer 100% honestly?
Do you "award" a thumbs up or thumbs down based solely on the "identity" of a person, or do you actually read the answer with an open mind, letting prejudices go by the wayside.
For instance, if you are an atheist and you see that someone has Jesus in their name, do you automatically give the answer a thumbs down? (Take this same "for instance" and reverse the roles now.) Thanks in advance for your answers.
58 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAtheists and believers - what are your thoughts on this quote by John Bice?
"A belief in the afterlife has the unavoidable effect of making this life less unique and precious....Good luck finding an atheist willing to strap a bomb to his or her back, or fly a plane into a building...."
So who values this life more, the atheist or the theist? Who is willing to kill or to die for his or her beliefs?
40 AnswersBologna1 decade agoHow many theists/Christians here were once atheists, and how many atheists were once believers?
What was the reason, if any, for your "conversion"?
28 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo you know anything about the atom as an Atheist symbol?
If not, here is a link.

Now for my question. What other symbols might represent atheism? I know about the IPU and FSM. Any other ideas, or should we scrap the symbol idea all together?
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAtheists - are you in or out of the proverbial closet?
Are you open about your atheism, or is it a secret?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoShould we rewrite the Pledge of Allegiance to read?
"one nation under Christianity"? Should we do the same thing for our currency. Your thoughts?
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoFaith is...?
