  • Dance Studios In Ithaca, NY?

Does anyone know if there's any dance studios in Ithaca, NY that offer classes in ballet (with pointe), tap, jazz, and lyrical for people in their late teens? I'm a student at the college there, have taken dance classes since I was eleven years old, and would love to start up again. I would preferably like to find a studio not too far from the college with reasonable tuition fees. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Accepting A Role Question...?

I was just informed that I got cast in the lead of a student written production called "Salome/Hamlet." I'm really excited...only there's one thing I'm not so sure about; I may or may not have to be naked onstage. It's not a definite yet, but I want to be prepared if that comes into play. Either way, I'm feeling very uneasy about it. I really want to do the role, but I'm torn. Anyone out there, can you help me make a decision? Offer any similar experiences and insights that you can. Thank you!

  • Copyright Authors Question?

I'm currently in the process of copyrighting a book of mine. The problem is, I'm not sure about one thing.

The book is a collection of all of the poetry I've written. I am the author of all of my poems, except one. The poem mentioned was a collaborate work between myself and a friend, so I'm unsure as to whether or not I need to fill out his name as one of the authors of my book or just leave it as is.

Should this book be published, I would give him all the credibility for our duo poem and mention that he wrote it as well. I'm just not sure if it's necessary for me to include his name on the copyright form before I mail it. If anyone out there can tell me whether or not I need to do this as soon as possible, that would be wonderful. Thanks!

  • Love/Music Poem Question?

I'm working on a poem that uses references to stories about people using music as a means of expressing their love for someone. I'm using both fictional and actual stories in this poem. So far, I have references to:

    *Orpheus and Eurydice

    *Pierrot and Pierette

    *Beethoven's "Fur Elise"

    *Berlioz's "Symphonie Fantasique"

*The Phantom of the Opera and Christine

I was wondering if anyone out their knew of other famous stories or characters, either real or fictional, that use music as a means of trying to get someone's love. If you do know of any (again, factual or made up) then please don't hesitate to tell me. Thank you!

  • Singing With a Cold Question?

I'm in rehearsals for a musical right now, and our performances are at the end of next week. Unfortunately, I also have a cold. It's mainly the coughing up phlegm kind of cold with the occasional stuffy nose. I can normally sing fine with it...until I go up into my head voice. Chest voice is fine; no vocal cracks or trouble. Head voice however...crack city. :P Anyways, I was wondering if anyone out there has any tips or tricks that could help me out. How do I avoid straining my voice/making it crack when I sing high? Also, if any one has any really good home remedies to get rid of a cold (mucus in chest/stuffy nose, etc.) please share. Thanks.

  • Gymnastics/Tumbling Question?

Hey all you gymnastics people and tumblers out there! Here's my question:

I'm going to be in a play where I do a lot of acrobatics. For it, I want to be able to do as much as I physically can, and I need help on perfecting a few things. Those would be:

*Cartwheel on my left side (close, but not there yet)

*One handed cartwheel right (close, but not there yet)

*One handed cartwheel left (not attempted)

*Standing somersault (close, but not there yet)

*Handstand (I can do it, but I need advice on holding it)

*Walking on my hands (see above)

*An aerial right (again, I'm close with this)

Basically, I would like to know how I could improve these things. What body parts should I strengthen to do these moves, and how can I improve upon them. Is it a matter or just kicking my body/legs higher, or is there more I should know? Please help, as I really need it. And I'm sorry if I sound ignorant, I'm still fairly new to this. Thanks. :)

  • The Sims 3 Disc/Playing Question?

So I received my Sims 3 disc today that was ordered online, and I was able to download in onto my computer without any problems. However, when the game play menu comes up and I click the button that's supposed to start the game, a message comes up and says that no disc is found. I've already tried ejecting the disc and putting in back in, and I also checked to see if my computer recognizes that I put a disc in (which is does). But I'm still have this same problem. Anyone have ideas what's wrong and how I can fix it? Thanks.

  • Balancing/Pulling Up en Pointe Question?

I'm having trouble balancing on pointe. It's not a problem with two feet, such as doing bourees or releves or turns that require the use of both feet. But when trying to balance on one foot en pointe in arabesque or during a developee, I'm at a loss. I can't seem to hold myself up for more than a few seconds. My teacher has told be my legs and feet are strong enough, so I don't think they're the problem. Does anyone have any advice as to what to do about this?

Also, the same issue applies in a different way when it come to pulling up on pointe. Two feet, no problem. However, relevee-ing on one foot to do something like a pirouette or a developee en pointe is another story. I can't seem to get over my box, and if I can it's only for a brief moment. Any ideas on ways to fix this, and the other problem?

    Thanks!

  • Relationship Issue Question?

I've been going out with this guy for about a month now and I really like him. He's sweet and fun to be around and everything that I've wanted in a guy. However, I can't help but notice something that bugs me while we're together. I think because I'm older, I want to have a little bit more physical intimacy with him. I'm not saying I want a ton pf physicality, but I wish that there was just a tiny bit more. (Maybe that we could kiss more; that's all really). I know I shouldn't base my relationship on physicality, but I would like to have just a little bit more of it. The problem is, I don't know how to tell him that. I don't want to hurt his feelings because I really do care about him, but I also want to share my feelings with him. Does anyone know of a nice way I could tell him that I want a tiny bit more physicality without making him angry or hurting him?

  • Dancing en Pointe Question?

I have been en pointe for a while now, and I've had the same problem with it for years. No matter how hard I try, I can never get the weight over my biggest toe, therefore sickling in the shoe. I keep trying to use my muscles to pull up and keep trying to pull my weight over, but nothing seems to be working. My teacher has told me that I am strong enough to do pointe, so it's not a strength issue. Please. Can someone please tell me ANYTHING I can do to fix this problem? Stretches, etc. ?

  • Text Message Fan Page On Facebook?

Normally I wouldn't waste points on a question like this, but I'm curious to know.

On Facebook, there is a fan page that says as followed:

When this TEXT MESSAGE is sent, he/she always replies "Will you be my gf/bf?"

Of course, this fan page turned out to be one of those "like this page to see" things and you have to take a stupid survey to get the answer. I am curious to know if anyone out there an please tell me what the "one text message" is.

    Thanks.

  • How To Treat/Get Rid Of Acne Scabs Fast?

Recently, I've gotten two cysts of acne; one right about my left eyebrow and one right on my chin. They've gotten better over the past few days, but right now they're very red and mostly scabs. I've been washing my face everyday with Dove soap and using the medicine my dermatologist has given me, but they're still very red and icky looking. Anyways, here are my questions:

    1. How can I make the redness of the zits go away fast? (I have a show coming up in about a week and I'd like the redness to go away by then.)

    2. Are there any other things (such as home remedies) that I can use/do to make them go away faster?

    3. By any chance if they don't away by performance, is there any way I can hid them really well?

    4. Since the zits are mostly scabs now, will they go away faster?

Remember folks, I only have about 6 days to make them go away/be fixed as much as possible, so any quick fixes or anything along those lines would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • I Need Acting Help Please...?

I was cast as The Witch in my high school's production of Into The Woods and the performance of it is coming up soon. The problem is, though, I'm having a lot of trouble with copying Bernadette Peters when I rehearse my scenes no matter how hard I hard I try. Also, a lot of things my director has me doing feels too foreign, meaning when I act out the scene the way I think it should, she changes it to something that I don't think connects at all with how the character feels in the scene (I'm not trying to be disrespectful at all to my director, but I can't do what she asks of me because it feels too strange.) But moving back to what I originally said, here's my question:

How can I truly make this role my own while not straying too far from what the original was while also incorporating what my director wants me to do and what I want?

  • How To Stop Constant Worrying?

(I'm posting this for a friend who does not have the internet)

My friend has worrying about something (she's asked me not to say what) constant lately. She's worried about this thing before, and has able to get herself out of the funk for a good amount of time, but lately it's become harder for her to do so. She knows that it's pointless to be worrying about the thing she's scared of, because she knows it could never happen to her. She also knows that it's not something she wants to happen and knows it's silly to be worrying about it. She's tried a lot of methods, such as telling herself to stop worrying and focus on what's going on right now, but that only works for a little bit. And when she's worrying, it gets bad. Her chest gets all tight and she can't focus or do anything to the best of her abilities.

My question for her is this: How can my friend once and for all get out of this funk and just move on. Also, are there any good ways you could suggest for my friend that might help her out if she worries like this again in the future?

  • French Translation Question?

I'm in a bit of a "Moulin Rouge" mood today, and I was just wondering how some one would say "The Sparkling Diamond" in French. I don't mean like an actual sparkling diamond, however. I mean if someone were to call someone else "The Sparkling Diamond." Yeah...so anyways, if someone could translate the phrase into French for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks. :)

  • How To Get Over Post Break Up Feelings?

I recently broke up with my boyfriend 2 days ago. My reasons were for the simple fact that we were fighting a lot and we couldn't really solve anything without fighting again. We were both so stubborn and we both became a worse version of ourselves when we fought. So I thought it was for the best that I ended it.

But there's a problem. Ever since I broke up with him, I've woken up crying and thinking about how much I miss him. I don't understand why I feel this way, considering the fact that I broke up with him and wanted all the problems to end. Last night we got to talking and we both told each other that we still love each other but agreed that we shouldn't get back together any time soon.

But to be honest, I'm not sure if that's what I want. I know that if I get back together with him we'll probably go right back to fighting, but I'm not sure if I can go on without him.

    So here are my questions:

    1. Is it bad that I feel this way even though I broke up with him?

    2. We both know we love each other but don't want to get back together. We also both want to be friends. How can we be friends even though we still have those emotions inside of us?

    3. Is there any way I can stop feeling this upset? I know time heals wounds, but is there any ways to help time go faster?

    4. I don't want to get back with him any time soon, but after time passes and everything settles down, do you think it's a bad idea to try our relationship again?

    Thanks.

  • Should I Break Up With Him Or Not?

My boyfriend and I have really hit a rough patch in our relationship. We've constantly been fighting over stupid things (I won't get into detail, but trust me they're stupid.) Anyways, usually right after we fight, we mend things and say that we won't fight over what we fought over anymore. But of course, that doesn't happen and the whole cycle continues again.

To be honest, it's bothering me insanely. I know the main reason for our fighting is because we both have very strong attitudes and opinions towards things but neither of us want to change completely just for each other. And we when we try to compromise we end up dissatisfying each other. I really honestly think that this sort of problem isn't one that can just be solved between us anymore and because of the fact that it's putting so much stress and misery on me, I want to break up.

However, each time we fight and say things will be better, I keep getting reminded of how much I really do love him. He really does care for me and tries to make me happy no matter what. And to be honest, I don't know what I'd do if I ever lost him.

So I'm really torn here. I personally don't want to split, but if we can't solve anything I think it's for the best. But I want to know what you guys think. Do you think that this relationship is worth hanging onto or is it ready to end?
