iPhone 4 home button not working?!?
My home button does not work. I have tried the following:
(1) plugging in power adapter and holding down home button - fail
(2) restarting multiple times - fail
(3) pulling off the back of the phone and pressing on the area where the home button is (per YouTube) - fail
(4) turning on assistance buttons - temporary fix, button still doesn't work but at least I can use my phone
(5) tapping my phone lightly, like a baby - fail
(6) slamming my phone on the desk, not like a baby - fail
(7) restoring the phone and ensuring it is up-to-date - fail
I also tried to suction off the glass to pull up the connectors (per YouTube) but couldn't get it off.
I would love to send it in to get it fixed, but it is $150. Therefore, I am going to wait another two months and just buy the new one. But are there ANY other suggestions????
6 AnswersCell Phones & Plans9 years agoBroken foot, no pain?
A few weeks ago I hit my foot (really hard) on a metal door stopper. It instantly hurt and appeared a little bruised. I assumed it would go away with time, but now 3 or so weeks later there is still a bruise! My foot doesn't hurt when I walk, but when I touch it then it does.
Could I have broken a bone without it really hurting anymore? Is there actually anything I can do about it (even if I go to the doctor, they may just send me out the door with a fat bill)?
3 AnswersInjuries10 years agoIs Apple Cider Vinegar in liquid or pill form better for allergies?
My Allegra-D is ridiculously costly. I need something a lot cheaper and I know that ACV works for me. However, it makes me sick every time that I use it. Do the pills work just as well as the liquid?
2 AnswersAlternative Medicine10 years agoIs there a green, vegan, cheap option to wash my body?
I do not want to use LYE or CASTILE SOAP. One is toxic, the other is too pricey. Right now I use baking soda to wash my hair and it is great. Will this also work for my body? What are other options for body wash? I don't mind making it, I just don't want to use too many ingredients or anything that is not vegan, toxic or expensive!
4 AnswersGreen Living10 years agoDoes baking soda clean as well as bleach?
I use baking soda for so many things (hair wash, toothpaste, laundry, etc.), however I want to know if I can also use it for a skin cleanser. Does baking soda clean or just neutralize? What is it in that makes it clean?
3 AnswersCleaning & Laundry10 years agoHow to mask the foul taste of apple cider vinegar?
I know that apple cider vinegar (ACV) is good for us, and it has helped with my allergies in the past. Due to $$ issues, I must consume the ACV to function (allergies) but can't afford my prescription any longer.
Does anyone have ideas on how to mask the taste of ACV? I literally vomit when I drink it in water or alone. I have heard that honey and apple cider vinegar would work (I'm vegan, so agave nectar - which is not cheap).
Other than just getting used to getting sick when I take it - any ideas to get it in my body in a cheap way without the negative effects????

I will be riding in the Best Dam Bike Ride 2011 for the first time. I know there is a code for first-time riders to waive the registration fee. Do you know what it is??
1 AnswerCycling1 decade agoAre Bontrager Cycling Shoes Vegan?
I just purchased Bontrager Race Road Cycling Shoes and want to know if these are vegan. I do not think they are leather, although I'm not sure about the rest (glue). I have found it very difficult to find SPD cycling shoes that are labeled vegan (on-line even). So if you have suggestions for those that would be awesome!

3 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoWhat makes shoes not vegan?
Obviously a shoe with any leather, wool, fur, etc would not be vegan. But I have heard that the glue that is used is sometimes not vegan - but what is in it that is not vegan? I tried looking online but didn't have any luck. Help!
5 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoTrain for a century!?
Currently (and for the past month or so) I ride 15-20 miles a day. I also ride a "distance ride" (now at 30-40 miles) each week with one day off (but ends up being another cross-training day - I do this 2 times a week (yoga or stairs, walking, running, etc)).
I want to train for a century but need to know how! Am I doing this correctly? What can I incorporate in my training system?
I'm just dying to accomplish this within the next few months (my 25th birthday is coming soon - I'd like to accomplish this by then).
4 AnswersCycling1 decade agoHow do I Race Across America?
I am super interested in the Race Across America cycling event - RAAM.
Right now I can only ride 15-20 miles a day and I ride 30 miles (distance ride) a week, which increases 10 miles each week.
I want to do the 3,000 mile trip and make it in the fastest time. Which is about 8 days 9 hours.
Do these people make any money out of this? Or do they just get a medal? I think that my hard work to do this (I imagine training for the next few years would do it) would be worth a little cash?!
Anyone know about this?
5 AnswersCycling1 decade agoWhat should I learn BEFORE reading Animal Farm?
I realize that Animal Farm is a great piece of modern literature, however my knowledge of history is rather dim. I really want to learn as much as I can (with as little reading as I can) about Stalin and Trotsky prior to reading Animal Farm so that much of it will make sense.
I read some information about Stalin but really want a good dense (but short) summary of Stalin and Trotsky.
4 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoIs the glycerin in Aveeno lotion animal or plant based?
I have some lotion left over from before I was vegan, now I wonder if the glycerin in my Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion is animal-based or plant-based. I know that Aveeno tests on animals (bad bad bad), but does anyone know about the glycerin????
5 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoDo vegan feces & flatulence smell worse?
I would think that vegans have less smelly feces & flatulence because we don't have dead rotting animals inside us. However, it seems that sometimes it is worse! I get that we might have these issues more frequently because of fiber but shouldn't they be odorless?
Anyone else?
4 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoReverse Osmosis v. 10-stage water filter?
The city water where I live has been contaminated many times over the past 20 years - resulting in deaths and illness. I do not believe in getting bottled water when it is unnecessary since it is just filtered tap water from other states and... blah blah...
Anyways - my real question is this: I need an affordable filter that will get rid of Chromium VI and other cancerous stuff, and heavy metals, etc.... I live in an apartment and can't honestly afford a big reverse osmosis filter that is $150-200 and I can't install something like that anyways. So are there reverse osmosis water filters that are counter-top style? Any suggestions on filters that are JUST AS GOOD as a reverse osmosis filter less than $100???
Thanks!
1 AnswerGreen Living1 decade agoIs it cruel to have a worm compost inside (no yard)?
Thank you for all the wonderful answers - I failed to mention that I live in an apartment without a yard, this may change many people's minds on this...
I would like to have a compost and was told a worm compost is the best to have. I am also vegan and a stickler for animal rights - however, I am not sure how to feel about this one - keeping worms in a small space (just like a bird, turtle, rabbit, or other wild animal in a case) might be cruel... I am a strict vegan - no sugar, no wool, no beeswax... and I live in an apartment (no yard - no free to come or go)

10 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoDoes a tiny compost stink? Can I have it inside?
I am so sick of producing so much garbage! I would love to have a compost but don't really know how to start. But before I do I need to know if a small compost stinks and from how far away? I live in an apartment and would actually like to keep it inside or on my balcony - it is so stinky I should keep it outside, what about when it is freezing out?
I do not want to invest any money in a book if it is too stinky or my apartment area isnt the right space for it.
