Okay folks. When I was answering this following question:

alpha (who doesn't let user contact him anymore, I think) provide this following method of converting rational numbers to fractions:

0.3333... = 3333/9999 = 1/3

0.1666... = (1666-1)/9990 = 1665/9990 = 1/6

This method still works some other rationals:

0.5555... = 555/999 = 5/9

0.0909... = 909/9999 = 1/11

but the process completely breaks down when I tried to figure out how to do it for other rationals:

5/6 = 0.8333... = (8333-1)/9990 = 4166/4555 ≠ 5/6

I have no clue how to apply the process for crazy irrationals:

1/7 = 0.14285714285714... (with 14285714 repeating)

Anyone else knows about this method and explain dealing with all rationals will be great.

Well, folks. Time has finally come for me to ask my first question since I started using Y!A since I join 6 months. It's not a question per se, but it's more of gauging people's opinions. Will try to pick a best answer, but I think people should get more out of my question than the answers that are listed.
