A friend of mine has sent me gifts three times now from Incredible Edibles. Frankly, while the presentation is nice, I find that the fruit is merely pretty and basically inedible and I end up trashing the whole thing. I was taught to always accept gifts graciously, but these baskets are not cheap and I don't want him wasting his money.

I am on an older Mac (4 yrs old) and recently purchased an ebook for a course. When I try to download it from Simon & Schuster the message reads: You have chosen to open filename.acsm which is a Hyper Text Markup language. What should Firefox do with this file? Apparently my adobe is older as well. Any suggestions for accessing this book? Many thanks!!

I have an imac & my daughter has the same imac. I had someone network the two computers so that she could share my internet connection & it has worked out beautifully - except that we cannot work on Microsoft simultaneously. My student/teacher edition of MS Office is SUPPOSED to have 3 separate product keys so I thought that I could uninstall my Office & reinstall it w/ another key so that we could work simultaneously. I have a home biz & she is in college so this is getting difficult. Any recommendations?

I am a 52 year old woman who was always gainfully employed until last August when I became ill from a recurring gastrointestinal disorder and went on leave at my job. I was then laid off and have been collecting unemployment. However my health issues (I also have arthritis) preclude me from working full time. What are the steps to be declared unable to work?

A friend burned me a disk of a few programs. One of them was zipped. When I opened the disk and tried to unzip the file, I get an "Archive Utility" box & it tells me that it is "unarchiving" the program, yet it is hanging indefinitely & I cannot eject the disk or get the Archive Utility program to stop. HELP!

I have a website selling a product. About a yr ago a friend referred me to someone who offered to help me out by making needed changes. He also offered to host the site on his server for free. Now this guy has disappeared. I cannot reach him either via email or phone. I do not know the ftp information. How do I get my site back?

My yellow tabby, Ned, has gotten heavier and heavier. I moved to a home with 3 stories and plenty of stairs hoping that he would get more exercise, but am finding that he stays on the third floor. He spends most of his time sleeping. He is the only indoor cat I've ever had and I know that that contributes to his weight.

Meaning no disrespect - and I like dreadlocks on African Americans - but I think that they look silly on white guys. Aren't they incredibly time consuming?

I had noticed in the past that when my daughter would visit and would take off her rubber flip flops, my male cat, Ned, would snuggle up to them. I just figured that he liked her scent. But I had a pedicure yesterday and wore the flip flops home and Ned has been going nuts over them, snuggling up to them and rubbing his face on them. I have another pair of flip flops & he doesn't bother with them ... it seems to be the scent of fresh rubber.

I have a two year old imac. Still runs magnificently despite having loaded it with quite a bit of software. Lately I have been shutting it down at night instead of just letting it sleep - and I've noticed that when I start up, it immediately opens Safari. Could my imac have a virus?

After all, we seem to be in the practice of bailing out corporate criminals. Our government tries to demand that hardworking auto workers take a $20 an hour cut in wages, pension and health care, but give BILLIONS to Wall Street hucksters and criminal investment bankers -- billions with no strings attached and, as we have since learned, no oversight whatsoever. Might as well bail out Bernie Madoff. Let the decent folk go to a shelter.

Several months ago (don't ask me how) my daughter accidentally deleted my entire itunes library on my imac. Since then, I have created a new library, however the old songs still show up in the library and it is annoying. Is there a way to do a mass delete of them (they are inaccessible) or do I have to delete them one at a time?

I see soooo many questions on these boards from people, especially teenagers, about different pharmaceuticals and "mental disorders." In the health section countless people ask about different prescriptions that they are on.

Does it ever occur to you that medical students are TRAINED in pharmacology - with very little attention given to diet or exercise? That once they graduate and become doctors, they establish close ties to drug manufacturers?

Why do individuals put such blind trust in these professionals - rather than taking control of their own physical and mental health? What is so difficult about taking a walk every day, eating your fruits and vegetables, volunteering for your community or learning how to FIX what ails you?

Like him or not, Obama ran one hell of a campaign. Two years ago, would you ever have imagined a man with the name of Barack Hussein Obama would be elected President? Yet he ran a cohesive, intelligent campaign that used the internet masterfully. Now, word is that Obama will deliver a weekly "radio" address similar to the fireside chats given by FDR - and that they will also be broadcast over the Internet. It looks as though Obama will take his Presidency directly to the people - bypassing the media altogether. What does this say about the media, particularly outlets like Fox News, and how they will represent politics in the future?
