  • What color purse/bag looks good with a brown coat?

I have a chocolate brown pea coat and I was wondering what color purse would complement it best. I'm thinking something neutral so that it won't clash with the scarves/hats I might wear (mostly blues or greens). Any suggestions?

  • Why won't my Inspiron E1505 laptop read my SD adapter?

I got a 2 GB microSD for my EnV2 today, and I want to put music from my computer on to it. I put it into the adapter and then put the adapter in the slot on my laptop that says SD/MMC/MS/Pro/XD but nothing happens. Is there something I'm doing wrong? It didn't come with any special software or anything and the salesperson made it sound like you just stick it in and you're all set.

  • Atom size clarification?

Am I correct in saying that V+2 is larger than V+4, Cl- is larger than Cl, and Na is larger than Na+? That is, the more electrons, the bigger the atom? (Sorry, I don't know how to do superscripts on here.)

  • Who is the artist of this song?

I'm almost certain the title of the song is "Better With You", but it is not by Five Times August or by Elin (the only ones that came up when I searched for these lyrics). It's sung by a woman, if that helps at all.

This is the only part I know:

    I'm good on my own

    And I'm good all alone

    [something I can't remember]

    [more stuff I can't remember]

I'm good that way, but I'm better with you

  • Bertrand Russell's writings?

I'm going to be writing a paper on Bertrand Russell for my Intro to Philosophy class. I'm interested in his social/political views and his thoughts on religion. I'm not very mathematically inclined, however, and I don't want to bite off more than I can chew. Which books and/or articles of his would you suggest reading?

  • Is this site credible?

    http://www.caninehearthealth.com/ingredients.html

My dog is in the late stages of heart disease and I have been scouring the internet for information on alternative therapies and also info on nutrition and heart disease. I would love to believe that their products work like the testimonials say but the skeptic in me has serious doubts about their credibility. I honestly can't afford to be shelling out $200 for something that may or may not work, or may even bring harm to my dog. Also I would have concerns about the interactions of the herbs and her medication (enalipril).

    Thoughts?

  • Transferring in as a junior?

I will be transferring to a new college next fall as a junior. Right now I'm at community college getting general education requirements out of the way and working part time.

Anway, I'm curious to see if anyone else on here has done this, and what your experience was like. Did you find it harder to make friends, or was it a pretty smooth transition?

  • Is there a term for this?

Is there a scientific term for the dark outer ring found around some irises?

Sorry if this question is not in the right category; I wasn't sure where to put it.

  • How do you determine the most common oxyanion of an element?

I've been studying for my chemistry quiz tommorrow and i just cannot figure out how I'm supposed to know the difference between -ites and -ates. I know that the -ate suffix is used for the most common oxyanion of an element, but how do I find out what that is? Do I just have to memorize which oxyanion is the most common for each element?

Also any other tips for remembering nomenclature would be appreciated. The quiz will be on naming anions, cations, ionic compounds, acids, and binary molecular compounds. Thanks!

  • Bone marrow donor registry?

I'm turning 18 soon and I want to get on a bone marrow donor registry. I know there are several organizations around and I'm not sure which one I should register with. Which do you think is the most reputable and most often used? (I'm in the U.S. by the way) Also if you have been a donor I'd like to hear your experiences. Thanks!

  • For the dog groomers out there?

Have you ever used a stripping/lava stone? I'm thinking of using one on my Lab. I had been thinking of getting a furminator, but they are so expensive. Now, I realize that stripping stones don't last forever but I could go through like 25 of them for the price of 1 Furminator.

Would an undercoat rake and finishing off with a stripping stone essentially give me the same result as using the Furminator (aside from the price I also worry about cutting up the topcoat)?

  • I need reassurance?

My 4 y/o Boston is going to be undergoing surgery to remove a broken tooth soon, and I am scared to death. She has been under anesthesia twice before and has been fine, but now we are at a new clinic, which is adding to my nervousness. I have a list of questions that I am going to ask the vet (about the type of anesthesia/monitoring) but I know no matter what I will still feel nervous. She is otherwise a very healthy dog and if something happens to her I don't know if I'll be able to forgive myself. I guess I just need reassurance that I am doing the right thing. The pulp of the tooth is exposed so it really does need a root canal or extraction to prevent infection and pain.

    Thanks.

  • Putting up garden fence?

I am so sick of having animals get into my vegetables - I've tried pie plates on string, and scarecrows but to no avail. I know that fencing probably won't help with the deer but at least it will keep out the woodchucks and rabbits. We've got a couple rolls of fencing (the wire garden kind), but I've never put in a fence before. Any tips? Like how closely spaced do the posts have to be, and how deep do they have to be? I want to be able to take it up relatively easily, but obviously I don't want it to be falling over either.

  • English translation of Polish song by Kasi Kowalska?

I'm curious about the translation of the song Jak Anioł by Kasia Kowalska. Counting to ten is about the extent of my knowledge with the Polish language, so I'm hoping that someone who speaks Polish will come across this. I like the sound of the song so I'm interested in knowing what she is actually saying. Here are the lyrics:

  • Least-squares regression line help?

Okay, at any point correct me if I'm wrong.

    y = mx + b, correct?

    m = r (sy/sx) and b = y-bar - m(x-bar).

Does the r mean residual? If so, according to my book, the residual is observed y minus predicted y.

Well, the problem I am trying to work through gives height (x) [27.75; 24.5; 25.5; 26; 25; 27.75; 26.5; 27; 26.75; 26.75; and 27.5] and head circumference (y) [17.5; 17.1; 17.1; 17.3; 16.9; 17.6; 17.3; 17.5; 17.3; 17.5; and 17.5]. They want me to find the least-squares regression line, but how am I supposed to do that if I don't know what the observed y and minus y are? (I'm using Minitab, by the way.) Now, the answer in the back of the book is Head = 0.1827(Height) + 12.4932. But it doesn't say how it got the answer (specifically, how to get a residual from those two sets of numbers) and I need to know.

Any help would be much appreciated, particularly explaining this stuff in a way that a non-mathemetical person would understand.

  • Sony Handycam editing?

I had to borrow a camera to make a video as part of a scholarship application. It is a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD 205.

I've been reading around and I guess it's next to impossible to edit Sony Handycam video on the computer. But I can't even figure out how to do it on the camcorder itself. All I want to do is delete scenes and make title pages.. it is really stressing me out so if anybody out there knows how to edit video from a handycam I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

  • Anyone out there familiar with Anna Akhmatova's poetry?

This is kind of going out on a limb, but I remember several years ago reading a poem of her's in an anthology. I can't really remember much of it, so sorry that I can't be more specific. From what I remember it was about memories. They compared something to a cat's emerald green eyes. That is all that I remember. Anybody happen to recognize what I'm talking about? Or am I just crazy, lol..

  • Urgent! Dog lovers in Columbiana Co. Ohio, or surrounding area?

Does anyone know a dog rescue, or an individual who can help save these dogs?

I was looking on petfinder and I came across an adorable American Bulldog shepherd mix from the Columbiana County dog pound. If the petfinder listings are accurate, he, along with 10 other dogs (7 of which are puppies), are scheduled to be euthanized in a gas chamber tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. It broke my heart to see. As I am too far away to directly help I am spreading the word as best I can around the internet in hopes that someone who can help will see this.

If you know of a rescue in the area please pass this on to them, or if you can take one of the dogs yourself call the pound at 330-424-6663. Thank you.
