  • Does anyone know what song this is?

Upbeatish song, male vocalist with a young-sounding voice.

Some of the lyrics that I remember from the chorus:

    "We'll be okay"

"We'll be able to move past this somehow"

    "A little bit stronger now"

Google hasn't helped me, and it's so catchy I must find out.

  • Home made whelping box?

A dog was dumped on our property and the vet confirmed she's pretty heavily pregnant and past the point of e-spay. Since her owners can't be found, it looks like she'll be having the puppies here and we'll be responsible to find them homes.

Anyway, she is about 40 pounds but she's not a tall dog, just heavy. So I figure we need to build a whelping box for her to she has a clean/secluded area to have the puppies but I have no idea which style is the best/any tips since google turned up tons of results and I have no experience with pregnant/birthing dogs.

  • What does a Pitdoodle look like?

I heard about this mix, and it just sounds silly. I've never seen one, though, and so if anyone can dig up a picture (I already tried googling.) I'll be happy. Closest I've found is a boxerdoodle.

This all started because I have a standard poodle and a pit bull, and someone joked about them making puppies. (only a joke, people. :P The poodle is neutered, and the pibble will be spayed in a few weeks. She's only 14 weeks old..)

  • Socializing Young rats?

Today I brought home a pair of young rats. They're pretty young (I'd say under 9 weeks? Though they're about 4 inch long males, so they're going to be big guys.) and aren't really fearful, but are fairly skittish. One is more curious then the other, and is more likely to come out, and will let you pick him up.

What are some good ways to reinforce them becoming the friendly lap-rats I know they can be? What are good treats for them? How much (or little) should I mess with them?

So far I've only been talking to them when they leave their 'house', and will move my hand near their cage so they can sniff me through it. I've picked the one up a few times, but it was while transporting him from his carrier to the cage.

  • New puppy names?

    I just got a new puppy, and I'm fresh out of girl names. She's 11 weeks old, pit bull, and SO sweet. The only name I could think of was Arthemis, but no one else in my family likes it. ^^;

  • Am I being too picky?

Our family is looking to add a dog or puppy to our family. We're interested in getting a doberman, rotweiler, or some kind of 'bully' breed. (Though we're not necessarily looking for purebred, and we're looking more to rescue a pup from an unplanned litter, and not irresponsible breeding.)

We've just been floored by how much money people are asking. Someone actually said they would charge us $60 more if I wanted the puppy to go to the vet first. Am I being unrealistic in thinking that I should be able to find a (non-papered) puppy for under $80? (Keep in mind, puppy shots in this area cost about 58 dollars from the vet.)

Our price reasoning is that for $110, we can adopt a fully vetted dog from the shelter. Right now, they don't have any dogs there that fit our family so were planning on going back every other week or so until they did, if we had not found one by then.

Are we being unrealistic in the cost of puppies, or are we just being swarmed by BYB's?

  • Is my rabbit playing when he does this?

I've had rabbits before, but I've never seen this behavior in one.

I have an angora rabbit, so he needs a lot of brushing. I'm training him to be a house-rabbit, so currently he'll spend most of his day in one room. (Still working on litter training, but he's getting there!) When it comes time to brush him, he'll sometimes do this thing where he jumps up and uses his front paws to push the brush away. I can't tell if he's playing, or telling me he doesn't want to be brushed. He'll have his ears in a semi-up state, and won't be making any nose or giving off any body language that he's feeling scared.

I've only had him a few weeks, though he is an adult rabbit. In the past, my rabbits have played by pushing things and picking them up and throwing them, I've never had one 'paw' at something.

  • Hamster breeders in Illinois/ What to name hamsters?

I recently got 2 dwarf hamsters (90% sure they're campbell's dwarf, but I really don't know. ^^; ) and I am just in love with them. They're wonderful and sweet, and I'd love to get another hamster to keep separately (probably a larger breed.) I don't really want to go to a pet store since whenever I've gone and looked at their hamsters they had dead rodents in with the living, and none were very social. I want a young hamster who has had socialization. I know about petfinder, but according to it there are no hamsters for adoption within an hour's drive of my house.

Also, I haven't named my current 2 yet. Nothing seems to have come to mind. They're sisters, one with a white belly and one without. (the one without is smaller, she was the runt) Any ideas? :)
