3m dry guide coat ruined by water?
I like to tinker and paint cars in my garage. Well i just bought some of the dry guide coat with the foam applicator. It rained here last night and of course the only leak in my roof was right above the little tub of guide coat and it got water in it. Will this stuff dry out and be useable? or am i out almost 50 bucks for the tub?

A friend of mine has asked me to help with her car. It has been at a local mechanic shop almost a year and he has finally given up on it. The problem is no power to fuel pump. He replaced fuel pump and fuel pump relay and says he checked the wires in between. I tried my engine scanner but it failed to link to the vehicle. i also checked every fuse in the dash and under the hood with an ohm meter. Through my internet research i should now check the ecm relay and then move on to the ecm itself. only problem is no fsm in the car and nothing on the fuse panel covers to let me know whats what in the fuse and relay boxes.any ideas?

I am helping a friend change the water pump on his 2000 olds alero 2.4 while i changed the pump he installed a different aftermarket radio in it also, it already had an aftermarket radio before though so he pretty much just swapped the wires. Anyway after we got everything put back together it starts and runs fine but when you turn on the key the only warning light that comes on is the check engine light for a few seconds. the speedometer is pegged out and the tach is pegged also. the odometer doesnt light up either. everything alse seems to work like dash lights turn signal headlights etc. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks john.

I have a mud racing truck, and over this summer i will be installing a new th400 tranny with a transbrake in it... only thing is ive never actually driven a vehicle with a transbrake before. I know how they lock first and reverse together at the starting line, but do i put the tranny in first and shift up manually as i go down the track or do i start in 3rd and let the tranny shift automatically? Or could i choose whichever i prefer and be fine?

a friend of mine brought me his truck to check out on my little handheld code reader. it read all four oxygen sensors as bad. I cleared the codes and had him bring it back a week later. it then only read 1 bad o2 sensor so i replaced it. Now the only problem he is having is what almost feels like the tranny is slipping at about 40 mph just slightly though. everything is fine at slower or faster speeds though. any ideas?

It all started last spring. I developed a rash on my belly below my bellybutton. It kept getting worse and worse, I tried everything to get rid of it. Some things helped a little but nothing cured it. Finally when winter came i changed jobs and my rash healed within a week or so.. hmmm. well i started up in my spring summer job and bam! the rash came back! Searching for rash near my belt buckle i came across the nickel allergy possibility. I stopped wearing my belt and the rash disappeared within a week.My winter job required me to wear a uniform with a tucked in shirt. Anyway does this sound like nickel allergy to you guys? i don't have a rash from the buttons on my jeans though. Is this a problem that might develop later on? I really cant afford to go to a doctor unless its life threatening. thanks for ANY info John

I'm trying to figure out a 1991 mazda b2600i truck with the fuel injected 2.6 engine. The problem started out that after it ran a while it would die and quit getting fire out of the coil. after a few days it started only running a minute or 2 then no fire. now the coil only fires about 3 times before it stops sending fire. You have to wait several hours before you can repeat this and get the coil to fire again. Any ideas? several mechanics have looked at it with no luck yet. Trying to narrow down the problem as all the parts on this truck are quite expensive. only thing that has been changed so far is the ignitor. and the coil passed the tests outlined in the service manual.

At the job i am working at we have to move large quantities of sand through pvc pipe using compressed air. Pvc is the only material we have found that has the flexibility and wear resistance we need to make our job productive. The only problem is that since pvc is an insulator it builds up huge static charges! We have to be real close to the pipe to perform our job and somebody gets shocked on average at least once a week sometimes more. When the weather is right i have seen the sparks bridge almost 2 feet of air! Anyway enough about the problem, and on to the solution. we have tried grounding the outside of the pipe..No luck tried rubber gloves...no luck.. Well i sorta have a new idea. Is it possible to build my own pvc extruder and mix some compound in with old pvc pipe and make new pipe that is conductive? Our job only uses a few hundred feet of pvc a year and i havent found a pipe manufacturer willing to make the effort for such small quantities. any ideas all welcome! thanks John!

About a year ago i was working on a car part on a hydraulic press when it slipped out of the press while i was holding it. It happened so fast that it spun my hand in a circle (not all the way around but you get the point) Causing immense pain..! well i figured i just dislocated my wrist and bought a cheap walmart wrist brace, And after a few weeks it felt better. Or so i thought.. About a month ago i started getting pains when i do any strenuous work with that hand and its been getting worse and worse. Its to the point now that i can barely use a 2 pound hammer. I Know i need to see a doctor but i don't have any health insurance so it has to be really important before i go in.
Any ideas on what my problem might be? Time i'll have to miss work? Cost of the different procedures? thanks in advance John

Ok heres what ive got I just bought a 1993 chevy half ton 4x4 pickup with a 5 speed manual transmission. the problem with it is when you first pull out in first gear the transmission makes a grinding sound at first untill you get rolling then goes away. it will also make the same sound in second or third if you arent going fast enough when you shift into those gears. And finally reverse is REALLY hard to get into gear it grinds bad and only engages if you let out the clutch super slowly, but once it gets rolling in reverse its fine but you have to hold the shifter or it will pop out of gear. Any ideas on what part of the tranny needs to be fixed? This is just gonna be my woods truck so i'd like to just replace the bare minimum of parts to get it rolling for now instead of a complete rebuild if i can avoid it. Thanks! John.

Hello all, I am working on a project to put a chevy 350 v8 into a pontiac fiero, and i need a 4t65e hd transmission for a core to send to the tranny shop to get beefed up. Could you guys help me figure out exactly which cars to look at in the salvage yards to find one? My research so far tells me they were usually in the factory supercharged and turbocharged engines, but i dont know exactly which models. Thanks! John.

I am thinking of buying a 93 Chevy 4x4 truck with a manual transmission. The only problem with it is that when you put it in reverse you have to hold the shifter in place or it will pop out of gear. Any ideas on what may be causing this or how to fix it? thanks John

My question is this block machined to accept a roller cam? I am planning on building a 383 stroker out of it this spring for my mud truck. Untill recently i owned an alignment shop in a small town. well one of my past customers stopped in and said " you didnt change the struts on my car like you said you did" Well of course his approach upset me, and i said if i said i did the work then it was done. He tells me that he brought his car to a local tire shop and his struts are leaking and i didnt change them. he now says he is going to take me to court over this. What should i do? P.S. he supplied the struts and i specifically remember doing the work.

I own an alignment shop and a friend of mine brought me his 2000 concorde with a 3.2 engine. It had a broken heater hose from the thermostat to the heater core. this was a metal pipe. I replaced it , but when i took it for a test drive it overheated. so i replaced the thermostat. took it for a test drive overheated again. replaced the radiator cap, replaced the water pump. all with the same result. I let it sit in the parking lot for 2 hours idling and it does fine, but as soon as you drive it on the highway about 3 miles the heaters go cold and it begins to overheat. have i missed anything? i know its possible that its a head or head gasket problem but i want to eliminate all the cheaper possibilities first.
P.S. when i have been filling with antifreeze i have been opening the bleeder on the top of the intake and filling slowly untill coolant comes out of the bleeder i hope thats the proper way to do it , the manual isn't very clear on proper filling techniques. thanks john

I am working on a 95 pontiac transport, trying to remove the harmonic balancer. only problem is there are no bolt holes to mount the puller with... there are 3 small oblong slots but thats about it. is there another type of puller out there that i'm not aware of? am i missing something? ..

My friend asked me over to take a look at their computer. Its an xp machine. It takes about 8 minutes just to boot up, aqnd when it finally does boot all you see is the desktop background. when i boot into safe mode under administrator the start button and icons are there. i tried making a new user account and booting but still no luck in regular startup. tried system restore, in regular mode the only thing i can get to come up is task manager and when i try to run programs a few of them will work like the games and such but system restore wont even open. and internet applications wont run even though it shows a connection. Any ideas on what action i should take next? I can find my way around a computer fairly good but i'm no expert.
